  • There are several researches on 2D gaze tracking techniques for the 2D screen for the Human-Computer Interaction. However, the researches for the gaze-based interaction to the stereo images or contents are not reported. The 3D display techniques are emerging now for the reality service. Moreover, the 3D interaction techniques are much more needed in the 3D contents service environments. This paper addresses gaze-based 3D interaction techniques on stereo display, such as parallax barrier or lenticular stereo display. This paper presents our researches on 3D gaze estimation and gaze-based interaction to stereo display.

  • Three-dimensional dynamic display system based on computer-generated integral imaging is discussed and its feasibility is verified via some basic experiments. Integrated images observed from different viewing points are seen to have full parallax and the animated 3D image was implemented successfully. Moreover, using large size Fresnel lens array was found to helps widen viewing angle and to make the system more practical.

  • One-dimensional (1-D) microlens parallaxes can be combined with heliocentric lens-source relative proper motion measurements to derive the lens mass and distance, as suggested by Ghosh et al. (2004). Here I present the first mathematical anlysis of this procedure, which I show can be represented as a quadratic equation. Hence, it is formally subject to a two-fold degeneracy. I show that this degeneracy can be broken in many cases using the relatively crude 2-D parallax information that is often available for microlensing events. I also develop an explicit formula for the region of parameter space where it is more difficult to break this degeneracy. Although no mass/distance measurements have yet been made using this technique, it is likely to become quite common over the next decade.

  • Today some many types of 3D display are developed but that are not possibly multiviewer, multiview and full parallax. Our new research work uses the Quantum optic to develop 3D display. Quantum mechanically, we can think of the first photon making a virtual transition to the second state. If the second photon appears within the lifetime of that state, the absorption sequence to the third level can be completed. When the electron, located in the third state, shifts to the first state, that electron emits one visible photon. We controlled the two invisible lights to draw a pixel in volume.

  • In this paper, we propose a new stereoscopic video conversion methodology that converts two-dimensional (2-D) MPEG-4 video to stereoscopic video. In MPEG-4, each Image is composed of background object and primary object. In the first step of the conversion methodology, the camera motion type is determined for stereo Image generation. In the second step, the object-based stereo image generation is carried out. The background object makes use of a current image and a delayed image for its stereo image generation. On the other hand, the primary object uses a current image and its horizontally-shifted version to avoid the possible vertical parallax that could happen. Furthermore, URFA(Uncovered Region Filling Algorithm) is applied in the uncovered region which might be created after the stereo image generation of a primary object. In our experiment, show MPEG-4 test video and its stereoscopic video based upon out proposed methodology and analyze Its results.

  • An exoscope, high-definition video telescope operating monitor system to perform microsurgery has recently been proposed an alternative to the operating microscope. It enables surgeons to complete the operation assistance by visualizing magnified images on a display. The strong points of exoscope are the wide field of view and deep focus. It minimized the need for repositioning and refocusing during the procedure. On the other hand, limitation of magnifying object was an emphasizing weak point. The procedures are performed under 2D motion images with a visual perception through dynamic cue and stereoscopically viewing corresponding to the motion parallax. Nevertheless, stereopsis is required to improve hand and eye coordination for high precision works. Consequently novel 3D high-definition operating scopes with various mechanical designs have been developed according to recent high-tech innovations in a digital surgical technology. It will set the stage for the next generation in digital image based neurosurgery.

  • A natural 3D image is considered by many people to be next-step in evolution of displays. This paper introduces autostereoscopic 3D of 60-view number, which is made using slanted lenticular lens array and LCD of 15.1 inch diagonal size and 3200 by 2400 pixel numbers and presents the results of our prototype. Due to its large view number, smooth motion parallax is observed and the visual fatigue is reduced.

  • The conversion of monoscopic video to 3D stereoscopic video has been studied by some pioneering researchers. In spite of the commercial of potential of the technology, two problems have bothered the progress of this research area: vertical motion parallax and high computational complexity. The former causes the low 3D perception, while the hardware complexity is required by the latter. The previous research has dealt with NTSC video, thur requiring complex processing steps, one of which is motion estimation. This paper proposes 3D stereoscopic conversion method of MPGE encoded data. Our proposed method has the advantage that motion estimation can be avoided by processing MPEG compressed data for the extraction of motion data as well as that camera and object motion in random in random directions can be handled.
