In this paper, we derive recurrence relations for moments of lower generalized order statistics within a class of doubly truncated distributions. Inverse Weibull, exponentiated Weibull, power function, exponentiated Pareto, exponentiated gamma, generalized exponential, exponentiated log-logistic, generalized inverse Weibull, extended type I generalized logistic, logistic and Gumble distributions are given as illustrative examples. Further, recurrence relations for moments of order statistics and lower record values are obtained as special cases of the lower generalized order statistics, also two theorems for characterizing the general form of distribution based on single moments of lower generalized order statistics are given.

To obtain both of the fast and complete data entry and the acquisition of reusable data in a Computer-based Patient Record system (CPR), we are building the ontology that is used by the entry supporting agents. Our application domain is Traditional Chinese Medicine. As the tool for the implementation, we used protege 2000 which is ontology building tool and provides frame knowledge representation language. In this paper, the construction methodology of our ontology is reported.

The electronystagmography(ENG) means to measure and record CRP(Corneal-Retinal Potential) whenever the eyeball is moved by using a skin electrode stuck to the hi-temporal and the difference of CRP. Both the horizontal and vertical movement are known according to the position of the stuck skin electrode. In this paper, the variable time-constances to record the eyeball signal of the conventional EOG(Electro-Oculograph) Amplifier is chosen. The shorter the time-constance is, the worse the distortion of a signal is. But the unbalanced impedance of the electrode stuck on the hi-temporal is reduced. Also, the longer the time-constance is, the less the distortion of it signal is. But it is sensitive to the change of base line according to the unbalanced impedance. In order to solve these problems, an DC-Amplifier, the distortion of the eyeball signal is globally used. By solving unbalanced impedance problem of EOG amplifier, the distortion ratio of EOG amplifier is improved.

The spectrum of impulse response signal which is obtained from an impulse hammer testing is used for frequency response function, nevertheless it has serious faults when the record length for the signal processing is not very long. The faults cannot be avoided with the conventional signal analyzer that is processing all the signals as if they are always periodic. The signals generated by the impact hammer are undoubtedly non-periodic because of the damping, and are acquired for limited recording time due to the memory as well as the computation performance of the signal analyzer. This paper will make clear the relation between the faults and the length of recording time, and propose the way for solving the faults.

When micro data are released to users, record by record data are disclosed and the disclosure risk of respondent's information is inevitable. Statistical disclosure control techniques are statistical tools to reduce the risk of disclosure as well as to increase data utility in case of data release. In this paper, we reviewed the concept of disclosure and disclosure risk as well as statistical disclosure control techniques and then investigated selection strategies of a statistical disclosure control technique related with data utility. The risk-utility frontier map method was illustrated as an example. Finally, we listed some check points at each step when microdata are released.

Most traditional database systems exploit a record-oriented model where the attributes of a record are placed contiguously in a hard disk to achieve high performance writes. However, for read-mostly data warehouse systems, the column-oriented database has become a proper model because of its superior read performance. Today, flash memory is largely recognized as the preferred storage media for high-speed database systems. In this paper, we introduce a column-oriented database model based on flash memory and then propose a new column-aware flash indexing scheme for the high-speed column-oriented data warehouse systems. Our index management scheme, which uses an enhanced $B^+$-Tree, achieves superior search performance by indexing an embedded segment and packing an unused space in internal and leaf nodes. Based on the performance results of two test databases, we concluded that the column-aware flash index management outperforms the traditional scheme in the respect of the mixed operation throughput and its response time.

Sciaphila secundiflora occurs on Jeju Island as a second species of the genus Sciaphila in Korea. This is an important finding in relation to the flora of Korea, as species of the genus Sciaphila are concentrated mainly in Indonesia and Malaysia. Few species are found on the mainland of Asia, in Japan, Taiwan, China (Hainan), tropical Africa, Australia, and on the Pacific islands. In this paper, the species S. secundiflora is described and illustrated as a new record from Korea. In addition, we suggest that the species of the genus Sciaphila should be protected with regard to its habitat characteristics and for its phytogeographic and climatic significance.

In digital video recording, higher areal density is strongly required for realizing digital VCRs. In order to accomplish higher areal density. we have implemented a system that has a narrow track pitch and can record data of about 30 Mbps(15 Mbps per channel) with the conventional S-VHS tapes. After computer simulation using the characteristics of the experimental system, we have selected appropriate equalizer and detection method by taking into account performance and cost (including hardware complexity). As a result, the selected equalizer and detection schemes are cosine equalizer and integrated de tection, respectively. The implemented system confirms reliable operation with a symbol error rate of less than $1{\times}10^{-4}$. In this paper, We will show the performance of the implemented system together with simulation results.
