  • Recommendation systems analyze user preferences and recommend items to a user by predicting the user's preference for those items. Among various kinds of recommendation methods, collaborative filtering(CF) has been widely used and successfully applied to practical applications. However, collaborative filtering has two inherent problems: data sparseness and the cold-start problems. If there are few known preferences for a user, it is difficult to find many similar users, and therefore the performance of recommendation is degraded. This problem is more serious when a new user is first using the system. In this paper we propose a method of integrating additional feature information of users and items into CF to overcome the difficulties caused by sparseness and improve the accuracy of recommendation. In our method, we first fill in unknown preference values by using the probability distribution of feature values, then generate the top-N recommendations by applying collaborative filtering on the modified data. We call this method of filling unknown preference values as data blurring. Several experimental results that show the effectiveness of the proposed method are also presented.

  • The demand and production for mobile music increases as the number of smart phone users increase. Thus, the standard of selection of a user's preferred music has gotten more diverse and complicated as the range of popular music has gotten wider. Research to find intelligent techniques to ingeniously recommend music on user preferences under mobile environment is actively being conducted. However, existing music recommendation systems do not consider and reflect users' preferences due to recommendations simply employing users' listening log. This paper suggests a personalized music-recommending system that well reflects users' preferences. Using AHP, it is possible to identify the musical preferences of every user. The user feedback based on the Bayesian network was applied to reflect continuous user's preference. The experiment was carried out among 12 participants (four groups with three persons for each group), resulting in a 87.5% satisfaction level.

  • The development of mobile devices and the spread of wireless network help share and exchange information and resources more easily. The bond them to Cloud Computing technology help pay attention to "Mobile Cloud" service, so there have been being a lot of studies on "Mobile Cloud" service. Especially, the important of 'Recommendation Service' which is customized for each user's preference and context has been increasing. In order to provide appropriate recommendation services, it enables to recognize user's current state, analyze the user's profile like user's tendency and preference, and draw the service answering the user's request. Most existing frameworks, however, are not very suitable for mobile devices because they were proposed on the web-based. And other context information except location information among user's context information are not much considered. Therefore, this paper proposed the context-aware framework, which provides more suitable services by using user's context and profile.

  • Recently, diverse approaches retrieval services based on social network are suggested. Although existing recommendation systems can retrieve experts of specific fields, profiles and evaluations about experts that users want to be recommended are in a system. The proposed expert recommendation system can automatize collection of evaluation to evaluate experts and experts' profiles in separate systems by using the Knowledge Base and XMDR. We also attempt to construct system which can recommend a number of experts by dynamically constructing Social Network by using diverse resources distributed 로컬ly and composed of heterogeneous data sources. To resolve these problems efficiently, there is a need to provide constructed resources between heterogeneous systems with transparency and independence and provide users with a singular interface. Therefore, the proposed system in this paper uses Knowledge Base and XMDR for extracting distributed experts' profiles and designs expert recommendation system connecting Knowledge Base with Social Network.

  • Social networking services (in short, SNS) allow users to share their own data with family, friends, and communities. Since there are many kinds of information that has been uploaded and shared through the SNS, the amount of information on the SNS keeps increasing exponentially. Particularly, Facebook has adopted some interesting features related to entertainment (e.g., movie, music and TV show). However, they do not consider contextual information of users for recommendation (e.g., time, location, and social contexts). Therefore, in this paper, we propose a novel approach for movie recommendation based on the integration of a variety contextual information (i.e., when the users watched the movies, where the users watched the movies, and who watched the movie with them). Thus, we developed a Facebook application (called MyMovieHistory) for recording the movie history of users and recommending relevant movies.

  • In mobile terminal recommend service system has general information restrictive recommend that individuality considering to user's information find and recommend. Also it has difficult of accurate information recommend bad points user's not offer individuality information preference recommend service. Therefore this paper is propose user's information individuality preference considering by user's individuality preference recommendation system using improved k-means algorithm. Propose method is correlation coefficients using user's information individuality preference when user's individuality preference recommendation using improved k-means algorithm. Restrictive information recommend to fix a problem, information of restrictive general recommend that user's information individuality preference offer to accurate information recommend. Performance experiment is existing service system as compared to evaluating the effectiveness of precision and recall, performance experiment result is appear to precision 85%, recall 68%.

  • Most systems in ubiquitous computing analyze context information of users which have similar propensity with demographics methods and collaborative filtering to provide personalized recommendation services. The systems have mostly used static context information such as sex, age, job, and purchase history. However the systems have limitation to analyze users' propensity accurately and to provide personalized recommendation services in real-time, because they have difficulty in considering users situation as moving path. In this paper we use users' moving path of dynamic context to consider users situation. For the prediction accuracy we complete with a path completion algorithm to moving path which is inputted to RSOM. We train the moving path to be completed by RSOM, analyze users' moving pattern and predict a future moving path. Then we recommend the nearest product on the prediction path with users' high preference in real-time. As the experimental result, MAE is lower than 0.5 averagely and we confirmed our method can predict users moving path correctly.

  • In general, recommendation systems quantify real-time context information obtained in the stage of collaborative filtering and use quantified context information in order to recommend services. But the recommendation systems can have problems of recommending inaccurate information because of lack of context information or classifying users into inaccurate groups because of simple classification works in the stage of quantification. In this paper, we solved the problems of lack of context information obtained in real-time by combining users' profile information used in the contents-based filtering and context information obtained in real-time. In addition, we tried collaborative filtering at the quantification stage by improving absolute classification methods to relative ones. As the result of experiments, this method improved prediction preference by 5.8% than real-time recommendation systems using context information in pure P2P environment.

  • In a flood of information, most users will want to get a proper recommendation. If a recommender system fails to give appropriate contents, then quality of experience (QoE) will be drastically decreased. In this paper, we propose a recommender system based on the intra-cluster users' item preference for improving recommendation accuracy indices such as precision, recall, and F1 score. To this end, first, users are divided into several clusters based on the actual rating data and Pearson correlation coefficient (PCC). Afterwards, we give each item an advantage/disadvantage according to the preference tendency by users within the same cluster. Specifically, an item will be received an advantage/disadvantage when the item which has been averagely rated by other users within the same cluster is above/below a predefined threshold. The proposed algorithm shows a statistically significant performance improvement over the item-based collaborative filtering algorithm with no clustering in terms of recommendation accuracy indices such as precision, recall, and F1 score.

  • Recommendation is to offer information which fits user's interests and tastes to provide better services and to reduce information overload. It recently draws attention upon Internet users and information providers. The collaborative filtering is one of the widely used methods for recommendation. It recommends an item to a user based on the reference users' preferences for the target item or the target user's preferences for the reference items. In this paper, we propose a neural network based collaborative filtering method. Our method builds a model by learning correlation between users or items using a multi-layer perceptron. We also investigate integration of diverse information to solve the sparsity problem and selecting the reference users or items based on similarity to improve performance. We finally demonstrate that our method outperforms the existing methods through experiments using the EachMovie data.
