BAMA 알고리즘을 이용한 전방위 파노라믹 모자이크 생성 (Generation of full panoramic mosaics using bidirectional alignment with multi-anchor algorithm)

  • The acquisition of a panoramic image has been popular in recent years due to its large number of applications. In this paper, we deal with generation of a full panoramic mosaic. When it mosaicing consecutive frames, a simple alignment method may lead to local and global alignment errors. These errors can make a full-view panoramic mosaic to be cracked. In order to solve this problem, we propose the bidirectional alignment with multi-anchor (BAMA) algorithm with a basic local alignment formula. Experimental results show that we can create full panoramic mosaics stably through the proposed algorithm.

임상에서 촬영되는 파노라마 방사선사진의 재현성 조사 (Reproducibility of panoramic radiography in patients)

  • Purpose : To evaluate the magnification error percentage in repeatedly taken panoramic radiographs of same patient and machine. Materials and Methods : 92 panoramic radiographs from 46 patients were traced and 30 horizontal and vertical measurements were made with digital sliding caliper. The results were compared with paired t-test. Results : There was no statistically significant difference between the two measurements. The overall difference as percentage error was $6.19\pm5.60\%$. The largest error as $14.61\pm12.44\%$ was found at condylar height 1, and smallest as $1.86\pm1.61\%$ at mandibular height. Overall vertical error excluding condylar height 1 was $3.76\pm3.97\%$, and the horizontal error $6.88\pm5.92\%$. Conclusion . Repeatedly taken panoramic radiographs of the same patient and machine was reliable since there was no significant percentage error difference but the percentage error ranged from $1.86\pm1.61\%\;to\;14.61\pm12.44\%$ indicating the error depends on the measuring site.

  • This paper describes a self-localization method for the mobile robot using panoramic view images. A panoramic view image has the information of location of the objects from the viewer robot and direction between the objects at a position. Among the sequence of panoramic view images, the target objects in the image like traffic signs, facade of a building, road signs, etc. locate in the real world so that robot´s position and direction deliver to localize from his view. With the previously captured panoramic images, the method calculates the distance and direction of the region of interest, corresponds the regions between the sequences, and identifies the location in the world.   • Purpose: To compare the bone height of implant sites measured using panoramic radiography and spiral CT. Materials and Methods : The available bone height was determined for 263 maxillary and mandibular implant sites in 59 patients. Distortion was calculated using the metal bar for the panoramic radiographs. Results: Significant differences in mean bone height between the two imaging modalities were found in maxillary and mandibular anterior regions (p<0.05). The mean difference in bone height recorded by the two techniques was smallest in the maxillary and mandibular molar areas (0.8 mm), and greatest in the mandibular anterior region (1.3 mm). With the exception of the mandibular anterior region, ninety percent of all the sites showed measurement differences within 2 mm. Conclusion: A safety margin of 2 to 3 mm is called for when utilizing panoramic radiography, otherwise additional imaging modality such as computed tomography is necessary to obtain accurate measurements.

  • This paper proposes a new panoramic image synthesis method using flash and no-flash image pairs, which reduces undesirable artifacts. Generally, in panoramic images, it is difficult to determine to use a flash in indoor environment. A flash image has unwanted artifacts such as hot spots and tunnel effect whereas a no-flash image also has artifacts like glass reflection. We derive cross projection tensors using flash and no-flash image pairs and transform the gradient field of a no-flash image using them. The image reconstructed from the modified gradient provides enhanced results, which are applied to synthesis of panoramic images. The proposed method can provide a better panoramic image than the conventional method. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • `파노라믹 영상'이라 함은 관련 있는 여러 영상들을 정합함으로써 하나의 새로운 영상으로 생성하는 것을 말하는데 흔히 '모자이크 영상' 이라고도 한다. 본 논문에서는 카메라를 통해서 데이터를 입력 받는다. 따라서 카메라 파라미터의 인식을 위해서 원근모델을 이용하는데, 프레임 사이의 불일치 측정 방법을 제시하여 불일치를 최소화 하였다. 또한 파노라믹 영상을 생성하기 위하여 고정된 참조와 시간에 따라 변하는 참조를 파노라믹 영상으로 제작하는 방법을 제시한다.

파노라마-PIV를 이용한 실내기류 해석 (Analysis of Airflows in a Room with Panoramic PIV)

  • A panoramic-PIV system has been constructed for the analysis of the airflows in a room. Smoke is used as seeding particles and are visualized by a pulsed laser (Nd-Yag, 120 mJ). Panoramic images have been obtained by an image composition process using the two images obtained by the two cameras $(1k\times1k)$ that are viewing the wide measurement areas. Velocity vector fields have been obtained by the grey-level cross-correlation PIV method. Three room models $(L{\times}W{\times}H[mm^3],\;500\times500\times250,\;350\times350\times175,\;250\times250\times125)$ have been tested. The experimental results have proven that the constructed panoramic-PIV system can be used as a useful tool for analyzing the airflow characteristics in the room models.

Craniometaphyseal dysplasia: Report of 2 cases with an emphasis on panoramic imaging features

  • Craniometaphyseal dysplasia (CMD) is a rare hereditary disorder characterized by hyperostosis of the craniofacial bones and flared metaphyses of the long bones. Although some reports have described the dentomaxillofacial characteristics of CMD, including increased density of the jaw, malocclusion, and delayed eruption of the permanent teeth, only a few studies have reported the distinct imaging features of CMD on panoramic radiography. This report presents 2 cases of confirmed CMD patients with an emphasis on panoramic imaging features. The patients' images revealed hyperostosis and sclerosis of the maxilla and mandibular alveolar bone, but there was no change in the mandibular basal bone. In both cases, the mandibular condyle heads exhibited a short clubbed shape with hyperplasia of the coronoid process. For patients without clear otorhinolaryngological symptoms, common radiologic features of CMD could be visualized by routinely-taken panoramic radiographs, and further medical examinations and treatment can be recommended.

해상 환경에서의 파노라믹 영상 생성 기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Panoramic Image Generation in the Sea Environment)

  • 해상 표적을 효율적으로 탐지하고 식별하기 위해 전자광학 센서가 사용되지만 실제 센서에 입력되는 영상 정보는 센서의 뷰-앵글의 한계로 인하여 탐지할 수 있는 영역이 제한된다. 따라서 팬-틸트 카메라로부터 촬영한 연속해상 영상으로부터 파노라마 영상의 생성기법 연구는 필요하다. 그러나, 해상 환경에서는 밝기값이 전 영역에서 유사하고 시변(time varying)함으로 기존의 영상기반 모자이킹 방법으로는 해상 파노라마 영상을 생성할 수 없다. 본 논문에서는 해상에서의 고해상도 파노라마 영상을 생성하기 위한 새로운 방법을 제안한다. 제안 알고리즘에서는 팬-틸트 카메라의 단일 초점 특성을 이용하여 특징환경에서의 모자이킹 결과를 해상 환경에서 적용함으로써 기존의 모자이킹 방법의 한계를 극복하였다. 가상 실험과 실 영상 적용실험 결과에서 제안 알고리즘이 해상 파노라마 영상 생성에 효과적임을 확인하였다.
