This study was made to investigate the differences in Korean woman's perceived makeup image and self-consciousness according to their expectation level in socio-psychological effect of makeup, and to gather information needed for the better understanding of cosmetics consumers and more effective marketing activities of cosmetics industries. Normative-descriptive survey method using questionnaire was employed for the present study. The survey was conducted in August 2001 and the sample consisted of 942 women between the ages of 18 and 50 residing in Seoul and Kyungi province. Data were analyzed by SPSS package. Factor analysis, ANOVA, and MANOVA were employed for the analysis of the data. The results are as follows : (1) Six factors emerged from the data related to the category of expected socio-psychological effect of makeup. Those factors were named as "increasing positiveness", "refreshment", "covering weakness", "self-expression", "consideration for others", and "the tool for self-change". Four factors were found in the category of makeup image, and the factors were named as "refinement", "nobility", "favorable impression ", and "personality ". (2) There was a tendency that those who highly expect the socio-psychological effect of makeup have more positive self-image. Considering this differences in self-image according to the level of expected socio-psychological effect of makeup. service activities for the consumers' positive opinion and attitude to the effect of makeup are needed, and it seems that those service activities will have a good influence on the consumers' emotional health. (3) Subjects with higher level of social anxiety showed higher expectations in refreshment, covering weakness and self-expression. Considering this trend, marketers have to make an constant effort for the variety of cosmetics and makeup manner by which consumers satisfy their expectation in makeup. It seems that the satisfaction of their expectation on the help of makeup effect will contribute to lessen social anxiety, and to get emotional stability. (4) Subjects with higher personal self-anxiety showed higher expectations of the effect. "increase of positiveness". The objectives of this study were 1) to identity the living conditions of old women at rural area, 2) to inquire of the activities for extra income 3) to Provide information on the social service program development for old rural women. Data were collected by interview with the questionaire from 396 old rural women in Korea. In analyzing data, $x^2$-test has been produced by S A S program package at Rural Development Administration. The major results were as follows ; 1. The average age was 69.7years old of the subjects, illiteracy was 54.1%, widows was 58.6%, and the 18.4% of elderly have led a solitary life. Also, the degree of health care was very low. 2. The source of living costs in most old rural women lay on agricultural income. Also, because of the educational expenditure for their children, etc., they led to poverty, and then could not provide for their old age. 3. In spite of the 60.4% of the old women did farming, a lot of them wishes to have a side job. The reasons why they wish to do a side job were making money, spending their time in working, being proud before their children, etc.. 4. According as they rely on their husband, the eldest son and his wife, for the psychological, physical, economical support, their position among family was low. Therefore, only the 43.3% of old women were satisfied with their life. 5. Finally, in the result of this case study, the old women, who particpate in the extra income promoting program, were satisfied with their rural life, and their social position were high rather than elswhere.
Imaging studies using MRI, PET, and/or MEG have been primary evaluation methods to quantitatively assess cognitive function. Recent advances in computational technology and information technology may allow a novel evaluation methodology to quantitate cognitive function more cost-effectively. In this study, we developed a software package composed of a series of tests to evaluate cognitive ability combined with a user-friendly touch screen input device. This cognitive assessment tool can quantitate concentration, numeric memory, associative memory, topological memory, visual and muscular reaction, and acoustic reaction over a relatively short testing time. We performed an empirical study on eighty normal subjects aged 20 and 59 years old using the developed evaluation methods. Age-related cognitive deterioration after 40 years old was confirmed. There was no difference in cognitive ability between male and female in the same age group. This study demonstrates the feasibility of a simple but effective evaluation software tool to quantitatively assess cognitive ability. This methodology may provide improved accessibility and reduced costs to perform cognitive function studies to compare between various subject groups.
The aims of this study are to evaluate the quality of hospital food services and the evaluate the quality in selected hospitals trough the use of the questionnaires. A survey of 30 hospital food and nutrition service department was undertaken and detailed information was collected from each, including, surveys of 1, 016 patient. Statistical data analysis was completed using the SAS/win 6.11 package for descriptive analysis, t-test X$^2$-test ANOVA principal component analysis , and cluster analysis and cluster analysis. In the case of patient satisfaction with hospital food and food services, overall satisfaction scores of male and female were 3.54 and 3.45 showing higher levels than the average score(3.00) The aspect of the food and food service which received the lowest ratings by patients was 'meal rounding while dining'. After conduction of factor analysis of variables affecting the patients meal satisfaction 3 groups including the 'menu satisfaction factor', 'service satisfaction factor ' and 'nutrition management satisfaction factor ' were selected. 3 clusters were categorized by the 'service cluster' 'nutrition management cluster', 'men cluster', and 'menu nutrition service cluster' after conducting a cluster analysis with influencing variables affecting patients meal satisfaction. The overview results of patient satisfaction by cluster were : in the case of the service group, such factors as taste, portion size, dealing with complaints while dining meal rounding while dining should be managed with caution In case of the nutrition management group, such factors as taste, portion size, temperature of the food intake, and dependence on hospital food should be managed with care, In the case of the menu groups, such factors as punctuality of meal times, contaminated substances in meals and serving mistakes, cleanliness of dishes, kindness of the server meal rounding while dining should by particularly managed with importance.

The purpose of this study was to characterize the effect of Net fashion value regarding to the factors of purchase-decision at internet shopping mall and the preference for fashion design. The subjects for this sample survey, were junior high school and university students who had dwelled at pusan and ulsan in south korea. This study had 824 samples of each aged from 13 to 24 who had purchasing ability of fashion apparels at the interned shopping mal1. The sampling data in this survey was analyzed by frequency analysis, factor analysis, T-test, LSD-test, MANOVA and ANOVA of SPSS WIN package. The results of this study was as follows; 1. It was proved that advertising, pursuit of services and products, pursuit of information were considered first from Net generations fashion value. Next things were perception of danger and pursuit of convenience. It was proved that they considered it important A/S, recall, exchange and post management. 2. It was proved that there was difference at the preference for fashion design of according to Net generations fashion value. Color was considered to be the most important one. 3. Men had higher political value than women and 1318 teenagers had higher fashion value than semi-adult. Under high school educational course Net generation had more theoretical value than above university educational course Net generation did. Also, with the factor of average monthly income, political value was considered to be the most important. People whose monthly expenditure on purchase was above 50,000 won had higher social value than people whose expenditure was under 50,000 won but under 50,000 won had higher political value than above 50,000 won did.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the influential factors for denture-wearing elderly people's denture satisfaction and subjective oral health and the relationship between the two in an effort to provide some information on the oral health promotion of the elderly. The subjects in this study were 192 senior citizens who were residing in the city of Busan and were wearing denture. Methods : The collected data were analyzed by the statistical package SPSS 18.0. To see whether there would be any differences in subjective oral health awareness according to general characteristics and denture-related characteristics, $x^2$-test was carried out, and t-test or one-way ANOVA involving Duncan post-hoc analysis was utilized to look for any possible gaps in denture satisfaction according to those characteristics. Results : 1. Concerning oral health awareness by general characteristics, there were significant differences according to gender and the form of health insurance subscription. 2. As for subjective oral health awareness by denture-related characteristics, there were significant gaps according to denture-washing frequency. 3. Regarding denture satisfaction by general characteristics, there were significant differences in satisfaction with denture fixation according to living arrangements. 4. As to denture satisfaction by denture-related characteristics, there were significant differences in satisfaction with mastication and with fixation according to the type of denture. 5. Better subjective oral health awareness led to better satisfaction with mastication, better satisfaction with fixation and better aesthetic satisfaction. 6. In relation to subjective oral health awareness and denture satisfaction, that had a significant relationship to satisfaction with mastication and with fixation. Conclusions : The above-mentioned findings showed that the denture satisfaction of the denture-wearing senior citizens was linked to their subjective oral health awareness. Therefore it will be possible to improve denture-wearing elderly people's quality of life when oral health plans geared toward boosting their denture satisfaction are carried out.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the knowledge of orthodontic patients about oral health knowledge and their actual oral hygiene care, which affected the oral hygiene of orthodontic patients. It's specifically meant to provide information on the prevention of the possible side effects of orthodontic treatment and the promotion of the oral health of orthodontic patients. Methods : This study were 227 orthodontic patients of dental clinics specialized in orthodontics. The collected data were analyzed by the statistical package SPSS WIN 18.0. Results : 1.As for Oral health knowledge, they had the best knowledge about smoking and dental checkup among the subfactors of oral health knowledge. 2. As to actual oral hygiene care, what they did best was doing toothbrushing before sleeping and what they did worst was avoiding eating food injurious to teeth. 3. They scored highest in the right toothbrushing(3.85), the use of oral hygiene supplies(3.62), the prevention of periodontal diseases(3.13) in the subfactors of actual oral hygiene care. They scored lowest in dental checkup and diet(2.99). 4. There were significant differences among the patients in oral health knowledge according to age(F=2.95, p<.05). Those who received another treatment during orthodontic treatment had a better oral health knowledge than the others who didn't, and the gap between the two was statistically significant(t=2.26, p<.05). 5. There were differences among the patients in actual health hygiene care according to gender(t=2.71, p<.01), age(F=4.40, p<.01), educational experiences about oral hygiene care(t=3.06, p<.01) and experience of receiving another treatment during orthodontic treatment(t=2.56, p<.05). 6. There was a positive correlation between oral health knowledge and oral hygiene care(r=.261, p<.001). Conclusions :The above-mentioned findings suggest that more education of diet and toothbrushing should be provided for orthodontic patients to improve their oral health care.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the factors related to the dental caries and periodontal diseases of Korean elderly people in terms of demographic characteristics, oral health promotion behavior and systemic diseases in an effort to provide information on national policy setting and policy evaluation about the prevention of tooth loss resulting from severe oral diseases and the promotion of elderly people's oral health. Methods : The first-, second- and third-year raw data of the 4th National Health and Nutrition Survey were utilized, and the data of 3,882 elderly people who got a dental checkup were analyzed. The statistical package SPSS WIN 19.0 was employed to make a logistic regression analysis. Results : The senior citizens who did toothbrushing less frequently were more likely to have dental caries. As for periodontal diseases, the men were 1.34-fold more likely to have periodontal diseases than the women, and the respondents whose self-rated health state was worse were 1.40-fold more likely to have periodontal diseases than the others whose self-rated health state was better. The senior citizens who ever received treatment from unqualified people were 1.30-fold more likely to have peridontal diseases, and those who took neither vitamin compound nor minerals were 1.30-fold more likely to have periodontal diseases. Those who suffered from low High-density Lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL) were 1.35-fold more likely to have periodontal diseases than the others who didn't. Conclusions : Those whose self-rated health status is worse should especially be concerned about periodontal diseases. Specifically, it's needed to pay attention to the low-income classes, and the government should take measures to provide quality welfare services for elderly people not to receive treatment from unqualified people. Besides, research efforts should be made to determine the relationship between periodontal diseases and low HDL-cholesterolemia.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the self-esteem and job-seeking efficacy of dental hygiene students in an attempt to provide some information on career guidance, counseling and the development of employment programs by colleges, as self-esteem seemed to be one of integral variables to affect job-seeking efficacy. Methods : The subjects in this study were the dental hygiene students in three different colleges in South and North Jeolla Provinces. After a self-administered survey was conducted, the answer sheets from 562 respondents were analyzed by the SPSS(Statistical Package for the Social Science) WIN 12.0. Results : 1. The students investigated got a mean of 2.43 in self-esteem, which was not a high score. The sophomores had a better self-esteem than the freshmen and juniors, and the gaps among the respondents in each subfactor of self-esteem were significant($p^*$ <0.01, $p^{**}$ <0.05). 2. The students got a mean of 3.12 in overall job-seeking efficacy, and there were significant differences among them in each subfactor of job-seeking efficacy($p^*$ <0.01). 3. The freshmen were ahead of the sophomores and juniors in job-seeking efficacy, and the gaps between the former and the latter were significant($p^*$ <0.01). 4. There was a significant relationship between the self-perceived self-esteem and job-seeking efficacy of the students. A higher self-esteem led to a better job-seeking efficacy(p<0.01). Conclusions : The above-mentioned findings illustrated that a higher self-esteem had a more positive effect on job-seeking efficacy. Therefore the development of programs geared toward boosting the self-esteem of dental hygiene students is required, and educational institutions should provide quality self-esteem programs for students to plan and prepare for their future, to make the right career choice, to improve their vocational adjustment, to keep pursuing self-development and to build the right values.
The purpose of this study was to provide basic information for establishment of a desirable design promotion policy drive by research and analysis of recognition to design by consumers (including students) and designers and their level, merchandise evaluation evaluation and obstructing factors in revitalization of designs. To implement such purpose as referred to hereinabove, research was made by introduction of questionaires which were distributed to 500 persons of consumers group and 350 individuals of registered designers in Seoul, and for analysis of the data, density and percentage (%) were obtained by use of SAS Package and the dispersed analysis and correlationship were added for necessary parts. The result of study is summarized as follows; (l)The consumers remind the design as costume (21%) and molding (20%), and the designers remind it as creativity (27%) & molding (14%) respectively and the reminding of design by the two groups was indicated very simi lar. (p < 0.001) (2)As per the recogni tion of roles by the designers the research has highly indicated as contribution to improving living standards or development of economy & industry, and also indicated that it creates excessive consumption with sti$$\mu$ative manner. (3)The design reacts as an important parameter in selecting cri teria of merchandises and deciding factors for purchasing and also, in enhancement of competitive power of merchandise impact of design (2.36) was regarded very high. (4)The Korean-made home appliances in image is assessed as vulnerable than that of Japanese products, and the product designing level is also shown difference from advanced countries (1.36), but has indicated as somewhat better than those competitive nations (0.51) (5)The satisfaction to design policy of the Gov't is very low (1.69) and they recommended for new establishment of Policy undertaking department within the Gov't and indicated reasearch & development of design as the major issue.
