We study torsion phenomena in the integral cohomology of finite if-spaces X through the Eilenberg-Moore spectral sequence converging to H*($\Omega$X; Z$_{p}$). We also investigate how the difference between the Z$_{p}$-filtration length f$_{p}$(X) and the Z$_{p}$-cup length c$_{p}$(X) on a simply connected finite H-space X is reflected in the Eilenberg-Moore spectral sequence converging to H*($\Omega$X;Z$_{p}$). Finally we get the following result: Let p be an odd prime and X an n-connected finite H-space with dim QH* (X;Z$_{p}$) $\leq$ m. Then H*(X;Z) is p-torsion free if (equation omitted).tion omitted).
This study was conducted to investigate the changes of pH, TBA, meat color and sensory evaluation on duck meat fed supplemental Bamboo vinegar during storage period at 4$^{\circ}C$ . Experiment animals (five-wk-old, Cherry Valley F$_1$, 100 chicks) were randomly assigned in four treatment groups. Treatments were control, 1%, 2% and 4% based on Bamboo vinegar addition. There was no PH difference in breast meat between groups on day 1 of storage, while pH of bamboo vinegar supplemented group was sustained hi호 after 3 days. TBA values of Bamboo vinegar treated groups were significantly lower than control group (P<0.05) and were steady change during storage. The color value in lightness no difference between groups during the storage. The control was significantly increased in 6 d and 9 d, while the bamboo vinegar treated groups no difference during storage. The redness and yellowness in bamboo vinegar treatment were decreased in 3 d and 9 d storage. The decrease in yellowness was outstandingly observed in bamboo vinegar 1% and 2% treatment (P<0.05). The odor in terms of sensory evaluation was improved by supplemental bamboo vinegar treatment. The significant differences were observed on 1 d, 3 d and 6 d storage (P<0.05). The appearance of sensory evaluation of supplemental Bamboo vinegar treated groups (P<0.05) was significantly different in 1 d and 3 d storage. The results of this study indicate that the supplemental Bamboo vinegar 1% and 2% may improve meat quality during storage period in duck meat.

Background: To compare the effects of intraoperative infusions of balanced electrolyte solution (BES)-based hydroxyethyl starch (HES) and saline-based albumin on metabolic acidosis and acid/base changes during major abdominal surgery conducted using Stewart's approach. Methods: Forty patients, aged 20-65 years, undergoing major abdominal surgery, were randomly assigned to the HES group (n = 20; received 500 ml of BES-based 6% HES 130/0.4) or the albumin group (n = 20; received 500 ml of normal saline-based 5% albumin). Acid-base parameters were measured and calculated using results obtained from arterial blood samples taken after anesthesia induction (T1), 2 hours after surgery commencement (T2), immediately after surgery (T3), and 1 hour after arriving at a postanesthetic care unit (T4). Results: Arterial pH in the HES group was significantly higher than that in the albumin group at T3 ($7.40{\pm}0.04$ vs. $7.38{\pm}0.04$, P = 0.043), and pH values exhibited significant intergroup difference over time (P = 0.002). Arterial pH was significantly lower at T3 and T4 in the HES group and at T2, T3, and T4 in the albumin group than at T1. Apparent strong ion difference (SIDa) was significantly lower at T2, T3, and T4 than at T1 in both groups. Total plasma weak nonvolatile acid ($A_{TOT}$) was significantly lower in the HES group than in the albumin group at T2, T3 and T4 and exhibited a significant intergroup difference over time (P < 0.001). Conclusions: BES-based 6% HES infusion was associated with lower arterial pH values at the end of surgery than saline-based 5% albumin infusion, but neither colloid caused clinically significant metabolic acidosis (defined as an arterial pH < 7.35).
In this Paper, we investigate local stability, oscillation and bounde-ness character of positive solutions of the difference equation $X_{N+l}$ = $\alpha$ + ( $X_{N-1}$$^{P/)}$( $X_{N}$$^{P}$), n = 0, 1, … under specified conditions.s.tions.s.
Gene encoding cyclodextrin glycosyltransferase (CGTase), from thermotolerant Paenibacillus sp. T16 isolated from hot spring area in northern Thailand, was cloned and expressed in E. coli (JM109). The nucleotide sequences of both wild type and transformed CGTases consisted of 2139 bp open reading frame, 713 deduced amino acids residues with difference of 4 amino acid residues. The recombinant cells required 24 h culture time and a neutral pH for culture medium to produce compatible amount of CGTase compared to 72 h culture time and pH 10 for wild type. The recombinant and wild-type CGTases were purified by starch adsorption and phenyl sepharose column chromatography and characterized in parallel. Both enzymes showed molecular weight of 77 kDa and similar optimum pHs and temperatures with recombinant enzyme showing broader range. There were some significant difference in pH, temperature stability and kinetic parameters. The presence of high starch concentration resulted in higher thermostability in recombinant enzyme than the wild type. The recombinant enzyme was more stable at higher temperature and lower pH, with lower $K_m$ for coupling reaction using cellobiose and cyclodextrins as substrates.

Interstitial cells of Cajal (ICCs) are pacemakers in gastrointestinal tracts, regulating rhythmicity by activating nonselective cation channels (NSCCs). In the present study, we investigated the general characteristics and pH-mediated regulation of pacemaker activity in cultured interstitial cells of Cajal. Under voltage clamp mode and at the holding potential of -60 mV, the I-V relationships and difference current showed that there was no reversal potential and voltage-independent inward current. Also, when the holding potentials were changed from +20 mV to -80 mV with intervals of 20 mV, there was little difference in inward current. In pacemaker activity, the resting membrane potential (RMP) was depolarized (In pH 5.5, $23{\pm}1.5$ mV depolarized) and the amplitude was decreased by a decrease of the extracellular pH. However, in case of increase of extracellular pH, the RMP was slightly hyperpolarized and the amplitude was decreased a little. The melastatin type transient receptor potential (TRPM) channel 7 has been suggested to be required for intestinal pacemaking activity. TRPM7 produced large outward currents and small inward currents by voltage ramps, ranging from +100 to -100 mV from a holding potential of -60 mV. The inward current of TRPM7 was dramatically increased by a decrease in the extracellular pH. At pH 4.0, the average inward current amplitude measured at -100 mV was increased by about 7 fold, compared with the current amplitude at pH 7.4. Changes in the outward current (measured at +100 mV) were much smaller than those of the inward current. These results indicate that the resting membrane potential of pacemaking activity might be depolarized by external acidic pH through TRPM7 that is required for intestinal pacemaking activity.
This experiment was conducted to determine the responses of some pine species to acidity of cultured soils, and absorption behavior of alkaline elements and to observe the growth characteristics during afforesting period. The results were summarized as follows. 1. Total dry weight indicating growth volume was not much influenced by the acidity of cultured soils (pH 4~8) in all of the 4 species studied. Pinus koraiensis showed more dry weight than any other species, which indicated statistically significant difference. 2. T-R ratio of dry weight was not much affected by the acidity of cultured soils (pH 4~8) and the difference of cultured soils (pH 4~8) and by species. Growth phase also did not show remarkable change through the experiment period. 3. The average sodium content ratio in the plant body had no correlation with cultured soils (pH 4~8), bue significant differences were recognized among species statistically. 4. It was found that sodium content ratio was not much influenced by the cultured soils (pH 4~8), even when the tops and roots were separately analyzed. But, very significant difference was found among the species. Pinus koraiensis especially, showed greater volume growth maintaining low sodium content ratio than any other species, which indicates that Pinus koraiensis has unfavorable characteristics for growing on the seaside.
The effects of media, incubation time, temperature and pH on production of conidia and chlamydospore of Cylindrocarpon destructans (Zinssm.) Scholen causing root rot of Panax ginseng were studied. Microconidia of the pathogen were abundantly produced on V-8 juice agar as a solid substrate with 5.73(log conidia/mm2) and in V-8 broth as a liquid substrate with 6.65 (log conidia/ml) among media tested. No difference was observed on the length of microconidia produced from the media with a range of 9.50∼11.38 $\mu\textrm{m}$. However, tryptic soy agar produced the broadest microconidia (average 5.00 $\mu\textrm{m}$) among the media tested. All the media produced chlamydospores In a range of 1.06∼4.37 (log chlamydospores/mm2) without a significant difference in number, while V-8 juice agar produced the bigger one (18.39 $\mu\textrm{m}$ in diameter) as compared to the tested media. The fungus began to sporulate conidia after three days of incubation and reached maximum at the 8th day. It seemed to be in a stationary phase until 30 days of incubation but was decreased thereafter. Chlamydospore was produced at 4th day after incubation. Maximum production was observed at 8th day and the number seemed to be maintained during the observation period. Both conidia and chlamydospore of the pathogen were able to be spoluated at 10∼25$^{\circ}C$. However, optimum temperatures of conidia and chlamydospore formation were 15∼25$^{\circ}C$ and 10∼20$^{\circ}C$, respectively. C. destrmtans produced conida with an wide range of pH from 3.3 to 8.0 and chlamydospore from 2.8 to 8.0. Number of conidia was increased with an increase of pH up to 4.0. There was no significant difference in the number between 4.0 to 8.0. It seemed to have two optimum pH ranges, 3.3∼4.0 and 7.1∼8.0 for the chlamydospore formation.
Uranyl hydrolysis precipitates were obtained by increasing pH value of aqueous uranyl solution in the range of neutral to alkaline pH value and their phase transformation during the solubility experiment under various conditions has been examined. The precipitates formed in the hydrolysis reaction of uranyl ion had a layered structure such as a meta-schoepite phase, a schoepite structure, or a mixed phase of meta-schoepite and schoepite. Phase transformation between them was strongly dependent on the pH value at which the precipitate was formed. The distance between the layers in meta-schoepite or schoepite phase was ∼7.35 Å, and it was increased with the pH value at which the precipitate was synthesized as well as the pH values of the aqueous solution. The phase transformation from a meta-schoepite to schoepite was fast for the precipitates formed at low pH values, however, it was not the case for the precipitates formed at high pH values. A small difference of pH value in aqueous solution gave a great change on its solubilities near pH 9.7, because a layered structure of the precipitates became amorphous above that pH value. Greater solubility for the precipitate formed at higher pH value can be explained from the fact that the precipitates formed at low pH value had a better crystallinity and also that the precipitates formed at higher pH value has a slower rate of crystallization.
The cultivation of Sparassis crispa in the beginning of the 2000s in South Korea, and the cultivar 'Neowul' bred in the Chonbuk Agricultural Research and Extension Service were registered first in 2016. However, there is no manual for the cultivation of Sparassis crispa, and therefore, there remains a big difference in its harvest rate across farms. Herein, we aimed to study the primordium formation conditions of Sparassis crispa 'Neowul' according to the medium pH, medium moisture content, and inoculum volume of liquid spawn and develop a stable production technology. We found the annual yield per bottle relating to the cultivation period, harvest rate, and the weight of fruiting body to be the highest at 363.6 g in the area cultivated at pH 3.8. However, it is thought that cultivation by adjusting the pH to 3.9±1 would be necessary for stable production, considering that at pH 3.6, the yield sharply reduced to 189.5 g. Moreover, the culture period was shorter at pH 4.0 compared with that at pH3.8, and the cultivation period at pH 4.0 was the same as that at pH 3.8. No significant difference in the weight of the fruiting body at different conditions was recognized. Additionally, it is difficult to regulate the pH precisely in practical applications in the farms. It is thought that 341.8 g Sparassis crispa will be produced per bottle annually if the medium moisture content is adjusted to 65%, liquid spawn inoculum volume is equivalent to 4% of the medium volume, and the humidity in the culture room is set to below 50%.
