  • Twenty-four cannulated Small-tailed Han${\times}$Poll Dorset wethers (BW $47.5{\pm}2.1kg$) were used to determine the effects of forage to concentrate ratio (40:60 vs. 70:30), monensin supplementation (0, 15 or 30 ppm, DM basis) and interactions of these two factors on cis-9, trans-11 conjugated linoleic acid (cis-9, trans-11 CLA) and trans-11 octadecenoic acid (trans11-$C_{18:1}$) concentrations in ruminal contents and plasma in sheep. The experiment was designed as a $2{\times}3$ factorial. The diet contained Chinese wild rye grass hay (Aneurolepidium Chinese), cracked corn, soybean meal, NaCl, limestone and trace mineral premix. Dietary crude fat and linoleic acid ($C_{18:2n-6}$) were adjusted with soybean oil to about 7.0% and 24.0 mg/g (DM basis), respectively. High forage diets increased (p<0.001) the concentrations of trans11-$C_{18:1}$ and cis-9, trans-11 CLA in ruminal contents and plasma. Monensin supplementation increased (p<0.001) the concentration of trans11-$C_{18:1}$ in ruminal contents, but had no effect on that of cis-9, trans-11 CLA. Concentrations of trans11-$C_{18:1}$ (p<0.019) and cis-9, trans-11 CLA (p<0.022) in plasma increased with dietary monensin levels. Interactions of forage: concentrate ratio and monensin level tended to affect the concentrations of trans11-$C_{18:1}$ (p<0.091) and $C_{18:2n-6}$ (p<0.083) in ruminal contents. Increasing forage levels increased the concentrations of trans11-$C_{18:1}$ and cis-9, trans-11 CLA in the rumen. Supplementing with monensin increased the ruminal production of trans11-$C_{18:1}$ and concentrations of trans11-$C_{18:1}$ and cis-9, trans-11 CLA in plasma.

  • Purpose : Parents' genetic information plays an important role in their children's genetic expression. Human chromosome has 23-paternal chromosomes and 23-maternal chromosomes. Parental chromosomal translocation can induce clinical problems in their children because of imbalance in genetic information. We intent to analyze the cytogenentic and clinical features about children with maternal balanced translocation between chromosome 15 and 18. Methods : We detected by one family's FISH study of chromosome 15. We have evaluated children born to clinically normal parents about peripheral bood analysis, endocrine, metabolic, radiologic study, electroencephalogram and social & intelligence scale. and We analysis their clinical manifestation by hospital records. Results : Patient's father and elder sister are normal clinically and genetically. Her mother's chromosome show balanced translocation, 46, XX, t(15;18)(p11.2;p11.3). One child has 46, XX, der(18) t(15;18)(p11.2;p11.3), mental retardation, growth retardation, speech & social developmental delay, recurrent infection and mild mitochondria dysfunction. Her young brother has 46, XY, der(15) t(15;18) (p11.2;p11.3), mental retardation, aggressive behavior, obesity and speech developmental delay. Conclusion : In this study we observed the children with developmental delay, dysmorphic facial features, mental retardation, growth retardation associated with growth hormone deficiency and aggressive behavior due to unbalanced translocation between chromosome 15 and 18.

  • The p-xylyl radical has been produced in a jet from the precursor p-xylene with a corona excited supersonic expansion. Rotationally cooled vibronic emission spectra in the transition of 12A2→12B2 of the p-xylyl radical have been recorded using a Fourier transform spectrometer. The spectra were analyzed on the basis of the known vibrational frequencies and the bandshapes given by the rotational selection rules.

  • Regions of allelic loss on chromosomes in many tumors of human and some experimental animals are generally considered to harbor tumor-suppressor genes involved in tumorigenesis. Allelotype analyses have greatly improved our under-standing of the molecular mechanism of radiation lymphomagenesis. Previously, we and others found frequent loss of heterozygosity (LOH) on chromosomes 4, 11, 12, 16 and 19 in radiation-induced lymphomas from several $F_1$, hybrid mice. To examine possible contributions of individual tumor-suppressor genes to tumorigenesis in p53 heterozygous deficiency, we investigated the genome-wide distribution and status of LOH in radiation-induced lymphomas from $F_1$ mice with different p53 status. In this study, we found frequent LOH (more than 20%) on chromosomes 4 and 12 and on chromosomes 11, 12, 16 and 19 in radiation-induced lymphomas from $(STS/A{\times}MSM/Ms)F_1$ mice and $(STS/A{\times}MSM/Ms)F_1-p53^{KO/+}$ mice, respectively. Low incidences of LOH (10-20%) were also observed on chromosomes 11 in mice with wild-type p53, and chromosomes 1, 2, 9, 17 and X in p53 heterozygous-deficient mice. The frequency of LOH on chromosomes 9 and 11 increased in the $(STS/A{\times}MSM/Ms)F_1-p53^{KO/+}$ mice. Preferential losses of the STS-derived allele on chromosome 9 and wild-type p53 allele on chromosome 11 were also found in the p53 heterozygous-deficient mice. Thus, the putative tumor-suppressor gene regions responsible for lymphomagenesis might considerably differ due to the p53 status.

  • As the interest in VANET is increased, a study on the beacon message transmission between vehicles is actively being made. IEEE 802.11p/1609.4 standard is based on a multichannel system consisting of multiple service channels (SCH) and a control channel (CCH). Multiple SCHs are defined for nonsafety data transfer, while the CCH is used to broadcast safety messages called beacons and control messages (i.e., service advertisement messages). However, most messages broadcast in the only one CCH belong to safety application that must be contested in dense vehicular network. This paper suggests safety message transfer algorithm in dense vehicular congestion. The proposed algorithm is that the priority of safety messages is decided by decision tree and messages are stored in proper queues according to their priorities. Then, safety messages with higher priorities are sent in turn by CCH in the assigned time. The proposed algorithm decreases the beacon transmission delay and increase on the probability of a successful beacon reception in an IEEE 802.11p/1609.4-based network.

  • 802.11p WAVE is the next-generation wireless communication that can make Ad-hoc network communication possible for Vehicle-to-Vehicle. GBSR protocol, one of the 802.11p WAVE protocols, mainly focuses on improvements in networks that have a tendency to disconnect. However, it does not consider the transmission time and velocity of a packet thus, there is a disadvantage of there being a delay in the transmission velocity, in urgent situations like car accidents, emergency patients transportation and crimes. In this paper, we proposed A-GBSR protocol for transmission of a packet to mobile node which has a high speed through the improved beacon message and Adaptive Neighbor list Management that are considering of the GBSR protocol transmission velocity.

  • The ${\beta}$-galactosidase gene from Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis ATCC 7962 was cloned and its enzymatic properties were characterized, with a view to assessing its potential use as a selection marker in the food-grade cloning vector. Chromosomal DNA from L. lactis subsp. lactis 7962 was cleaved with PstI and ligated into pBR322 for transformation into Escherichia coli TGl. Transformants showing ${\beta}$-galactosidase activity possessed the pBR322 plasmid containing a 10 kilobase (kb) PstI fragment and this plasmid was named pCKL11. The cloned ${\beta}$-galactosidase gene came from the chromosomal DNA of L. lactis subsp. lactis 7962 was confirmed by Southern hybridization. A restriction map of pCKL11 was constructed from the cleavage of both pCKL11 and the purified 10kb insert fraqment. The. optimum pH of the ${\beta}$-galactosidase determined with the E. coli harboring the pCKL11 was 7.0. The optimum temperature was $50^{\circ}C$, while the pI of the enzyme was 7.4. These values were the same as those of the enzyme from the parent strain.
