Ozone Generation Synergy Effects of Three-Phase Voltage Apply Type Superposed Discharge Ozonizer (3상 전압인가형 중첩방전 오존발생기의 오존생성 상승효과)

  • Nowadays, ozone is mainly utilized for water treatment and home equipments. Although the demand for ozone is increasing, the ozone yield of silent discharge type ozonizer is low. Therefore, it is expected to improve the energy efficiency and ozone yield of an ozonizer. In this paper, a new ozone generation system is proposed. The 60[Hz] three-phase voltage is applied to three-phase superposed discharge type ozonizer(3PSDO) which has three electrodes(central, internal and external electrodes). There is no discharge pause time when three-phase voltage is applied due to 120-degree phase difference of applied voltage. The synergy effect of the three-phase superposed discharge type ozonizer is investigated by comparing with the three sort of single-phase discharge type ozonizer(1PDO). So, three-phase superposed discharge type ozonizer is able to obtain high ozone yield, and optimize discharge space, because this can increase the discharge power at low applied voltage.

  • Recently, ozone has been utilized in various fields thanks to its effectiveness, and has been in ever-growing demand. Accordingly, various kinds of ozonizers have been examined among researchers. This paper is concerned with developing the cascade-type plate electrode ozonizer(PTO) for improvements of indoor air, water supply and drainage and investigating its characteristics. Four types of ozonizers have been devised according to their size, numbers and arrangement Electric discharge area of each type of ozonizer has the same size of 22,400[$mm^2$], and its discharge power has the maximum 40[w]. As the result of having studied ozone generation ozone concentration and ozone yield characteristics of each ozonizer, we found that the type of ozonizer in which eight plates were arranged into cascade type(PTO-4) was the most excellent one.

  • In order to improve ozone generation, we experimentally investigated the silent discharge plasma and ozone generation characteristics of a multi-discharge type ozonizer. Ozone in a multi-discharge type ozonizer is generated by superposition of a silent discharge plasma, which is simultaneously generated in separated discharge spaces. A multi-discharge type ozonizer is composed of three different kinds of superposed silent discharge type ozonizers, depending on the method of applying power to each electrode. We observed that the discharge period of the current pulse for a multi-discharge type ozonizer can be longer than that of silent discharge type ozonizer with two electrodes and one gap.Hence, ozone generation is improved up to 17185 ppm and 783 g/kwh for the superposed silent discharge type ozonizer for which an AC high voltages with a 180 phase difference were applied to the internal electrode and the external electrode, respectively, with the central electrode being ground

  • This paper reports the following two topics : $\circled1$ ozone concentration (O$\sub$3con/) and discharge characteristics in flowing O$\sub$2/ with variation of Re$\sub$3/ at high voltage nozzle (HVN) of HVN 10 type ozonizer. $\circled2$ O$\sub$3con/ with variation of Re$\sub$3/ at HVN of HVN 25 type ozonizer. The important conclusions obtained from this paper are as follows. 1) In HVN 10 type ozonizer : $\circled1$ The discharge pattern can be controlled by adjustment of the Re$\sub$3/. $\circled2$ V$\sub$c/ is inversely proportional to pulse width (P$\sub$w/) and pulse frequency (P$\sub$f) $\circled3$ O$\sub$3con/ increase as decreasing of Re$\sub$3/ for constant P$\sub$w/ and P$\sub$f/. $\circled4$ O$\sub$3con/ increase as decreasing of P$\sub$w/, O$\sub$3con/ is proportional to P$\sub$f/. 2) In HVN 25 type ozonizer : O$\sub$3con/ of HVN 25 type ozonizer can increase than that of HVN 10 type ozonizer, according to parallel circuit of applied voltage and serial of supplied gas. As a result, we can obtain O$\sub$3con/ of 825[ppm] as the maximun value.

  • We have been studying on the discharged phenomena if compound dielectrics for insulator which is very important in electric machinery and et al. In this paper we come to the couclusion that as a result of studying on the electric design of Ozonizer, the higher frequency becomes the better output could be got, and then discharge power could be the greatest by selecting the distance of the discharge gap and atomospheric pressure properly under the same applied voltage, and that power factor of the Ozonizer reached the maximum power at a particular frequency when the discharge power is maintained at constant.

  • It is the paper that this study develops the small plate-type ozonizer(PTO) for improvements of indoor air and water, and investigated the characteristics. Electric discharge area of ozonizer of each form is same to 60[$cm^2$] and discharge power is the maximum 30[W]. Ozonizer of various forms was devised according to size, numbers and arrangement. The main study object is discharge power-ozone concentration characteristics, discharge power-ozone yield characteristics, amount of gas flow-ozone concentration characteristics and amount of gas flow-ozone yield characteristics. PTOL-P appeared so as to be most excellent, and ozone generation characteristics were able to get the similar results at three kinds of remaining ozonizer ($PTO_{P-P}$, $PTO_{C-P}$, $PTO_{T-P}$).

  • In this paper, complex discharge type ozonizer with a screw type electrode has been designed and manufactured for environmental improvement using low power and high efficency ozoniazer. The complex discharge type ozonizer is equipped with three electrodes{central electrode(CE), internal electrode(IE) and external electrode(EE)}. Ozone of the complex discharge type ozonizer is generated by superposition of silent discharge and surface discharge in discharge space as a screw type CE and IE are respectively applied to AC high voltage of inverse-polarity has $180[^{\circ}]$ phase difference, EE is common electrode. In this time, when oxygen has been used as supplied gas, the maximum values of ozone concentration, ozone generation and ozone yield were obtained as 8,334[ppm], 3,249[mg/h] and 65.3[g/kwh].

  • There are a number of small scale application fields of ozone, such as food conservation and/or storage in refrigerators, containers and storage rooms, deodorization in the production and living areas, protection against biohazards, bleaching of fabrics, etc. For these applications, miniaturization, ozone controllability and costdown of the ozonizer are the most essential points, whereas power efficiency is the most imporant factor in the case of a large scale ozonizer used in various industrial applications. It has been developed a novel sawtooth-to-cylinder type micro-ozonizer meeting above the three points by using a negative pulse corona discharge. As a result of the observations of pulse coronas affecting ozone generation, it is found that the maximum ozone concentration is generated at the pulse streamer coronas in both positive and negative case. The ozone concentration (20ppm/2l/min) generated by the negative pulse corona is about 2 times higher than that of the positive pulse corona, and could be controllable linearly by adjusting the dc input voltage of the [supply-inth ] cinventional small scale ozonizers. As a result, the present ozonizer is also very good to be used as a micro-ozonizer.
