  • We have investigated the feasibility of spin on glass (SOG) film from polysilazane-type resin as a premetal dielectric (PMD) layer of the next-generation ultra-large scale integrated (ULSI) devices. A commercial polysilazane resin and a polysilazane-type resin with oxidizing agent were spin-coated and cured to form SOG films. In order to study the effect of oxidizing agent and annealing, the SOG films were characterized as cured and after annealing at $400^{\circ}C$ to $900^{\circ}C$. the density and the resistance against wet chemical of the SOG films were improved by the addition of oxidizing agent, because oxidizing agent enhanced the conversion from polysilazane polymer to $SiO_2$. The hole profile issue associated with insufficient curing of polysilazane in narrow gaps was also resolved by oxidizing agent, while the gapfill capability of SOG was not deteriorated by oxidizing agent.

  • Chlorotrimethylsilane reacts with chromic anhydride to form a very reactive neutral chromium (Ⅵ) oxidizing agent. The active oxidizing species is not trimethylsilyl chlorochromate as was previously reported but chromyl chloride generated in equilibrium concentration. This oxidizing agent was proved very suitable for benzylic oxidations of toluenes and alkylbenzenes to benzaldehydes and aralkyl ketones. Dichlorodimethylsilane and trichlormethylsilane also react with chromic anhydride to form chromyl chloride in an equilibrium concentration.

철근콘크리트흄관 라이닝용 니켈계 방균제의 기초적 특성 연구 (A Study on the Base Properties of Nickel Type-Antifungal Agent for Reinforced Concrete Hume Pipe Lining)

  • 본 연구는 철근콘크리트 흄관의 내구성을 개선시킬 목적으로 흄관 내부에 폴리머 시멘트 모르타르로 라이닝 처리한 부분에 황산니켈 6수화물을 혼입시켜, 하수용으로 사용되는 철근콘크리트 흄관의 열화에 크게 영향을 미치는 황산화 세균의 번식을 억제하기 위하여 실시하였다. 본 연구에서는 황산화세균의 증식을 억제시키기 위하여 황산니켈 6수화물의 농도에 따른 성능을 평가하였으며, 방균제에 함유된 황산이온이 시멘트 모르타르의 팽창요인 되어 역학적성질에 영향을 미칠 수 있기 때문에 팽창성 시험과, 니켈의 중금속의 용출로 환경오염은 물론 흄관의 내구성에 영향을 미치기 때문에 용출시험도 실시하였다. 본 연구 결과, 니켈계 방균제가 시멘트 콘크리트의 부식균인 Thiobacillus novellus의 증식을 억제하기 위해서는 20mM 이상을 사용하여야 효과가 있는 것으로 평가되었으며, 방균제를 혼입한 시멘트 모르타르의 압축강도 및 휨강도는 방균제의 혼입여부에 따라 크게 영향을 받지 않았다. 또한 방균제 혼입에 따른 특별한 팽창현상은 발견되지 않았으며, 모든 종류의 시멘트 모르타르에서 니켈성분이 전혀 용출되지 않았다. 본 연구를 통하여 철근콘크리트 흄관의 내구성 개선을 위하여, 흄관 내부의 라이닝과 함께 방균제를 혼입한다면, 두가지 방식재료의 성능이 서로 보완효과를 일으킬 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다.

왕겨를 가연성 담체로 하는 봉상 농약 훈연제의 연소성에 미치는 산화제의 영향 (Effect of Oxidizing Agents on the Burning Characteristics of Smoke Rod of Pesticides Using Rice Chaff as a Combustible Carrier)

  • 농약 원제, 왕겨, 무기산화제 및 아교 혼합 분말에 물을 가하여 반죽한 다음 성형하여 봉상 훈연제를 제제하고 훈연제의 연소성을 측정하여 보편적으로 사용될 수 있는 산화제를 선발하고자 하였다. 왕겨 분말을 가연성 담체로 하는 봉상 훈연제는 11개의 농약에 대하여 빠르고 균일한 연소 속도와 높은 훈연율을 나타내었다. 연소 균일성, 연소 속도 및 훈연율을 고려할 때 봉상 훈연제에는 산화제로써 염소산나트륨이 가장 적당하였다. 가장 높은 훈연율을 나타내는 산화제 첨가비는 농약에 따라 다르게 나타났지만 연소 속도가 다른 훈연제가 훈연율도 높게 나타나는 경향이었다. 왕겨를 가연성 담체로 한 훈연제는 $50^{\circ}C$에서 60일간 보관하였을 때 대부분 유효성분의 경시변화가 거의 없이 안정하였다. 연소실, 냉각기, 포집병 1, 여과기, 포집병 2, 포집병 3, 포집병 4, 응축기 및 진공펌프로 구성된 연기 포집 장치는 연소시 연기가 대량으로 발생하는 훈연제의 훈연율 측정에 적합하였다.

The Inhibition of TREK2 Channel by an Oxidizing Agent, 5,5'-dithiobis (2-nitrobenzoic acid), via Interaction with the C-terminus Distal to the 353rd Amino Acid

  • TREK (TWIK-RElated $K^+$ channels) and TRAAK (TWIK-Related Arachidonic acid Activated $K^+$ channels) were expressed in COS-7 cells, and the channel activities were recorded from inside-out membrane patches using holding potential of - 40 mV in symmetrical 150 mM $K^+$ solution. Intracellular application of an oxidizing agent, 5,5'-dithio-bis (2-nitrobenzoic acid) (DTNB), markedly decreased the activity of the TREK2, and the activity was partially reversed by the reducing agent, dithiothreitol (DTT). In order to examine the possibility that the target sites for the oxidizing agents might be located in the C-terminus of TREK2, two chimeras were constructed: TREK2 (1-383)/TASK3C and TREK2 (1-353)/TASK3C. The channel activity in the TREK2 (1-383)/TASK3C chimera was still inhibited by DTNB, but not in the TREK2 (1-353)/TASK3C chimera. These results indicate that TREK2 is inhibited by oxidation, and that the target site for oxidation is located between the amino acid residues 353 and 383 in the C-terminus of the TREK2 protein.

Evaluation of Electrolyzed Oxidizing Water as a Control Agent of Cucumber Powdery Mildew

  • The effect of the electrolyzed oxidizing water on Sphaerotheca fuliginea was investigated with germination and sporulation of the fungal conidia. The sporulation was inhibited by the electrolyzed oxidizing water of pH 2.5, 3.5, and 4.5, but was not inhibited by the distilled water adjusted pH with 1N-HCL solution. However, the electrolyzed oxidizing water did not affect conidial germination. The oxidation-reduction potential at pH 2.5 and pH 3.5 of electrolyzed oxidizing water were 1130 mV and 1060 mV, respectively, but those of distilled water adjusted with HCL solution were 550 mV and 490 mV, respectively. When the electrolyzed oxidizing water of ORP over 1100 mV was sprayed on cucumplanting, the disease severities of powdery mildew were about 8.5% and 19.2%, respectively. Disease severity of a standard control (triflumizole 30% WP, $500\textrm{mg}\textrm{/L}$) was about 3.0%, while that of plants without electrolyzed oxidizing water was to 45.8%.

Evaluation of system design modifications for full system decontamination of Kori Unit 1

  • Kori Unit 1 is planning a system decontamination project to reduce radiation exposure of decommissioning workers, prevent the spread of contamination and down-grade the level of classification of radioactive waste. The system decontamination range for Kori Unit 1 will be the entire primary system, including RCS, CVCS and RHRS. Some system design modifications are required for the system decontamination operation. In this paper, major system design modifications were evaluated based on the conditions that system restoration is needed after completion of system decontamination. The major system design modifications are CIDF connection location to system, system decontamination operating pressure control, RCP seal water injection and formation of letdown flow. It was evaluated that there was no negative effect on the system due to the system design modifications. However, as the RCP seal water is injected into the system in the oxidation process, the concentration of the oxidizing agent is diluted. Therefore, the oxidizing agent injection and system decontamination operation procedures should be developed to address the dilution effect of the oxidizing agent. The system design modifications dealt in this paper will be finally confirmed through on-site investigation in the future, and if necessary, the system design modifications will be re-evaluated.

Roles of Phosphoric Acid in Slurry for Cu and TaN CMP

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of slurry including phosphoric acid for chemical-mechanical planarization of copper and tantalum nitride. In general, the slurry for copper CMP consists of alumina or colloidal silica as an abrasive, organic acid as a complexing agent, an oxidizing agent, a film forming agent, a pH control agent and additives. Hydrogen peroxide (H$_2$O$_2$) is the material that is used as an oxidizing agent in copper CMP. But, the hydrogen peroxide needs some stabilizers to prevent decomposition. We evaluated phosphoric acid (H$_3$PO$_4$) as a stabilizer of the hydrogen peroxide as well as an accelerator of the tantalum nitride CMP process. We also estimated dispersion stability and zeta potential of the abrasive with the contents of phosphoric acid. An acceleration of the tantalum nitride CMP was verified through the electrochemical test. This approach may be useful for the development of the 2$\^$nd/ step copper CMP slurry and hydrogen peroxide stability.

과염소산을 이용한 팽창흑연의 제조 및 고출력 리튬이온전지 음극재로의 응용 (Preparation of Expanded Graphite using Perchloric Acid and It's Application as Anode Materials for High Power Li-ion Secondary Battery)

  • Expanded graphites were used as anode materials of high power Li-ion secondary battery. The expanded graphite was prepared by mixing the graphite with $HClO_4$ as a intercalation agents and $KMnO_4$ as a oxidizing agents. The physical and electrochemical properties of prepared expanded graphites through the variation of process variables such as contents of intercalation agent and oxidizing agent, and heat treatment temperature were analyzed for determination of optimal conditions as the anode of high power Li-ion secondary battery. After examing the electrochemical properties of expanded graphites at the different preparing conditions, the optimal conditions of expanded graphite were selected as 8 wt.% of oxidizing agent, 400 g of intercalation agent for 20 g of natural graphite, and heat treatment at $1000^{\circ}C$. The sample showed the improved charge/discharge characteristics such as 432 mAh/g of initial reversible capacity, 88% of discharge rate capability at 10 C-rate, and 24 mAh/g of charge capacity at 10 C-rate. However, the expanded graphite had the problems of potential plateaus like natural graphite and lower initial efficiency than the natural graphite.

전해 산화제에 의한 악취 원인 VOCs 제거 특성 (Characteristics of odorous VOCs removal by using electrolytic oxidant)

  • In this study, various conditions and phenomena that occur in the process of removing odorous VOCs by using electrolyzed oxidant were examined. The formation of hypochlorous acid, which is an oxidant produced by electrolysis, was investigated and the properties of the oxidizing agent used to decompose toluene, xylene, and cyclohexane were investigated. As a result, it was found that the production rate and the final concentration of the oxidizing agent increased with the current density. It was found that the degree of removal varies depending on the property of each pollutant. Interestingly, in the batch experiments in which the pH of the produced oxidant was controlled, it was found that the degree of elimination varied depending on the pH of the substance. These results suggest that the difference in the concentration and distribution of hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and hypochlorite ($OCl^-$) due to the pH change leads to the difference in oxidizing power on the oxidation characteristics of each substance. Styrene and terpineol showed better degradation characteristics than toluene and xylene in odorous VOC removal experiments by spraying electrolytic oxidant using a lab-scale continuous reactor. In conclusion, the removal of odorous VOCs by the electrolytic oxidant can have various applications in that it can oxidize pollutants of various spectra.
