  • In order to measure the characteristics of Surface Acousitc Wave(SA W) with compositions of $LiNbO_3$ single crystal, $128^{\circ}$ Y cut wafer was fabricated from $LiNbO_3$ single crystals with the composition range of 47-50 $Li_2O$mol%. Delay lines were formed on the $128^{\circ}$ Y cut wafer using photolithography technique. Delay time was measured by pulse-echo overlap method. The compositional dependence of SAW characteristics, SAW velocity, electro-mechanical coupling coefficient$(K_s^2)$ and temperature coefficient of delay time(TCD), were investigated.

Computational Complexity Comparison of Second-Order Volterrra Filtering Algorithms

  • The objective of the paper is to compare the computational complexity of five algorithms for computing time-domain second-order Volterra filter outputs in terms of number of real multiplication and addition operations required for implementation. This study shows that if the filter memory length is greater that or equal to 16, the fast algorithm using the overlap-save method and the frequency-domain symmetry properties of the quadratic coefficients is the most efficient among the algorithms investigated in this paper, When the filter memory length is less than 16, the algorithm using the time-domain symmetry properties is better than any other algorithm.

  • This paper presents a computational method that identifies an exact set of optimal overlap rates between critical activities to meet job site specific needs by using rework cost-slope. The procedures to compute the exact solution are provided in peudocode algorithm. The method is coded into Exact Concurrent Construction Scheduling system that allows practitioners to make more informed decision in accordance with the site-specific condition involved in the overlapping of critical activities. Test cases verify the validity of the computational method and the usability of the system.

  • The SCR in Static Transfer Switch (STS) is used for reliability improvement of important load's power supply in industry field. However an average of 2% fault in thyristor(SCR) occurs, so that the attached mechanical switch is paralleled with SCR's both end points and SCR operates only during the $12{\sim}208$[mS] before operation of the mechanical switch. Also, an ISC (Ideal State Conditioning Interlock Device) - STS system that two power supply paths may not be thrown at the same time is developed to remove the overlap section perfectly when a short or earth fault is generated in one system. This method has reduced the fault rate remarkably through the reduction of SCR's fatigue degree by using SCR in conversion operation corresponding to 0.89 times a year. Also, in case of fault generations, it does not affect to supply power to the load, therefore it contributes to the promotion of reliability in the power supply.

  • Mobile IP provides hand-held devices with mobility which allows the user to do work over the network. However, handover time due transfer between access routers causes network delays and data loss. L2Trigger Handover expects this handover to take place, and executes L3 handover before L2 handover takes place, thereby reducing overall handover latency, although it still is an issue since handover latency between AR is not completely eliminated in L2 trigger handover. In this paper took into consideration where MIH is used in MIPv4 and using MIH Table when handover is about to occur in MN(Mobile Node), thereby pre-fetching data needed by Handover. In this way, when the handover is estimated, it improves the init time that L2trigger had. Furthermore we can find that we can execute the handover with shorten init time in smaller and narrow overlap length

  • In this paper, we introduce a speaker overlap system and look at the process of converting the existed system on the specific framework of artificial intelligence. Speaker overlap is when two or more speakers speak at the same time during a conversation, and can lead to performance degradation in the fields of speech recognition or speaker recognition, and a lot of research is being conducted because it can prevent performance degradation. Recently, as application of artificial intelligence is increasing, there is a demand for switching between artificial intelligence frameworks. However, when switching frameworks, performance degradation is observed due to the unique characteristics of each framework, making it difficult to switch frameworks. In this paper, the process of converting the speaker overlap detection system based on the Keras framework to the pytorch-based system is explained and considers components. As a result of the framework switching, the pytorch-based system showed better performance than the existing Keras-based speaker overlap detection system, so it can be said that it is valuable as a fundamental study on systematic framework conversion.

  • Off-line handwritten character recognition is in difficulty of incomplete preprocessing because it has not dynamic and timing information besides has various handwriting, extreme overlap of the consonant and vowel and many error image of stroke. Consequently off-line handwritten character recognition needs to study about preprocessing of various methods such as binarization and thinning. This paper considers running time of watershed algorithm and the quality of resulting image as preprocessing For off-line handwritten Korean character recognition. So it proposes application of effective watershed algorithm for segmentation of character region and background region in gray level character image and segmentation function for binarization image and segmentation function for binarization by extracted watershed image. Besides it proposes thinning methods which effectively extracts skeleton through conditional test mask considering running time and quality. of skeleton, estimates efficiency of existing methods and this paper's methods as running time and quality. Watershed image conversion uses prewitt operator for gradient image conversion, extracts local minima considering 8-neighborhood pixel. And methods by using difference of mean value is used in region merging step, Converted watershed image by means of this methods separates effectively character region and background region applying to segmentation function. Average execution time on the previous method was 2.16 second and on this paper method was 1.72 second. We prove that this paper's method removed noise effectively with overlap stroke as compared with the previous method.

Optimization Strategies for Federated Learning Using WASM on Device and Edge Cloud (WASM을 활용한 디바이스 및 엣지 클라우드 기반 Federated Learning의 최적화 방안)

  • This paper proposes an optimization strategy for performing Federated Learning between devices and edge clouds using WebAssembly (WASM). The proposed strategy aims to maximize efficiency by conducting partial training on devices and the remaining training on edge clouds. Specifically, it mathematically describes and evaluates methods to optimize data transfer between GPU memory segments and the overlapping of computational tasks to reduce overall training time and improve GPU utilization. Through various experimental scenarios, we confirmed that asynchronous data transfer and task overlap significantly reduce training time, enhance GPU utilization, and improve model accuracy. In scenarios where all optimization techniques were applied, training time was reduced by 47%, GPU utilization improved to 91.2%, and model accuracy increased to 89.5%. These results demonstrate that asynchronous data transfer and task overlap effectively reduce GPU idle time and alleviate bottlenecks. This study is expected to contribute to the performance optimization of Federated Learning systems in the future.

Separation of the Occluding Object from the Stack of 3D Objects Using a 2D Image (겹쳐진 3차원 물체의 2차원 영상에서 가리는 물체의 구분기법)

  • Conventional algorithms of separating overlapped objects are mostly based on template matching methods and thus their application domain is restricted to 2D objects and the processing time increases when the number of templates (object models) does. To solve these problems, this paper proposes a new approach of separating the occluding object from the stack of 3D objects using the relationship between surfaces without any information on the objects. The proposed algorithm considers an object as a combination of surfaces which are consisted with a set of boundary edges. Overlap of 3D objects appears as overlap of surfaces and thus as crossings of edges in 2D image. Based on this observation, the types of edge crossings are classified from which the types of overlap of 3D objects can be identified. The relationships between surfaces are represented by an attributed graph where the types of overlaps are represented by relation values. Using the relation values, the surfaces pertained to the same object are discerned and the overlapping object on the top of the stack can be separated. The performance of the proposed algorithm has been proved by the experiments using the overlapped images of 3D objects selected among the standard industrial parts.

Evaluation of Hippocampal Volume Based on Various Inversion Time in Normal Adults by Manual Tracing and Automated Segmentation Methods

  • Purpose: To investigate the value of image post-processing software (FreeSurfer, IBASPM [individual brain atlases using statistical parametric mapping software]) and inversion time (TI) in volumetric analyses of the hippocampus and to identify differences in comparison with manual tracing. Materials and Methods: Brain images from 12 normal adults were acquired using magnetization prepared rapid acquisition gradient echo (MPRAGE) with a slice thickness of 1.3 mm and TI of 800, 900, 1000, and 1100 ms. Hippocampal volumes were measured using FreeSurfer, IBASPM and manual tracing. Statistical differences were examined using correlation analyses accounting for spatial interpretations percent volume overlap and percent volume difference. Results: FreeSurfer revealed a maximum percent volume overlap and maximum percent volume difference at TI = 800 ms ($77.1{\pm}2.9%$) and TI = 1100 ms ($13.1{\pm}2.1%$), respectively. The respective values for IBASPM were TI = 1100 ms ($55.3{\pm}9.1%$) and TI = 800 ms ($43.1{\pm}10.7%$). FreeSurfer presented a higher correlation than IBASPM but it was not statistically significant. Conclusion: FreeSurfer performed better in volumetric determination than IBASPM. Given the subjective nature of manual tracing, automated image acquisition and analysis image is accurate and preferable.
