IABP 치험 [31례 보고 (Clinical Experience with Intraaortic Balloon pump - Report of 31 cases -)

  • From December 1981 to June 1987, thirty one patients suffering from low output syndrome after cardiac operation received cardiac assist with intraaortic balloon pump. Fifteen patients survived [survival rate 48.4%]. After receiving assist with IABP, urine output increased, heart rate and central venous pressure decreased, reflecting improved myocardial performance. Poor preoperative hemodynamic and functional status resulted in poor survival despite of assist with IABP. Poor pre-IABP hemodynamic status also resulted in high mortality after assist with IABP. Our experience suggests that IABP should be introduced early in the course of worsening to get good result.

Rate control to reduce bitrate fluctuation on HEVC

  • This paper proposes a frame-level rate control algorithm for low delay video applications to reduce the fluctuations in the bitrate. The proposed algorithm minimizes the bitrate fluctuations in two ways with minimal coding loss. First, the proposed rate control applies R-Q model to all frames including the first frame of every group of pictures (GOP) except for the first one of a sequence. Conventional rate control algorithms do not use any R-Q models for the first frame of each GOP and do not estimate the generated-bit. An unexpected output rate result from the first frame affects the remainder of the pictures in the rate control. Second, a rate-distortion (R-D) cost is calculated regardless of the hierarchical coding structure for low bitrate fluctuations because the hierarchical coding structure controls the output bitrate in rate distortion optimization (RDO) process. The experimental results show that the average variance of per-frame bits with the proposed algorithm can reduce by approximately 33.8% with a delta peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) degradation of 1.4dB for a "low-delay B" coding structure and by approximately 35.7% with a delta-PSNR degradation of 1.3dB for a "low-delay P" coding structure, compared to HM 8.0 rate control.

Impacts of the Real Effective Exchange Rate and the Government Deficit on Aggregate Output in Australia

  • Based on a simultaneous-equation model consisting of aggregate demand and short-run aggregate supply, this paper estimates a reduced-form equation specifying that the equilibrium real GDP is a function of the real effective exchange rate, the government deficit as a percent of GDP, the real interest rate, foreign income, labor productivity, the real oil price, the expected inflation rate, and the interactive and intercept binary variables accounting for a potential change in the slope of the real effective exchange rate and shift in the intercept. Applying the exponential GARCH technique, it finds that aggregate output in Australia has a positive relationship with the real effective exchange rate during 2003.Q3 - 2013.Q2, the government deficit as a percent of GDP, U.S. real GDP, labor productivity and the real oil price and a negative relationship with the real effective exchange rate during 2013.Q3 - 2016.Q1, the real lending rate and the expected inflation rate. These results suggest that real appreciation was expansionary before 2013.Q3 whereas real depreciation was expansionary after 2013.Q2 and that more government deficit as a percent of GDP would be helpful to stimulate the economy. Hence, the impact of real appreciation or real depreciation on real GDP may change overtime.

3D 프린터용 시멘트 복합체의 배합요인에 따른 출력 품질의 실험적 평가 (Experimental Evaluation of the Effect of the Mixing Design Factors of the Cementitious Composite for 3D Printer on the Printing Quality)

  • 이 논문에서는 건설용 ME 방식 3D 프린터로 출력하기 위한 시멘트 복합체 배합의 출력품질을 평가하기 위해 출력 외관의 육안검사와 출력물의 치수 오차율, 압축강도 및 휨강도를 측정하였다. 시험결과, 출력 불연속 정도, 표면 무결성, 형태 유지능력, 출력가능 여부와 같은 4개 지표를 모두 만족하는 우수한 배합은 P1-2, P1-4, P2-5, P2-6으로 나타났다. 3개 지표를 만족하는 배합은 P0-1, P1-1, P1-3, P1-6, P1-7, P2-4으로 나타났다. 이 배합 중 오차율 측정용 중공 원주형 공시체의 직경 치수 오차율과 높이 치수율이 낮은 배합은 P0-1, P2-6로 나타났다. 치수 오차율이 우수한 배합과 그렇지 않은 배합의 압축강도 및 휨강도를 평가한 결과 출력 품질이 우수한 배합의 역학적 특성이 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 그러나, 역학적 특성이 우수한 배합이 반드시 출력 품질이 우수한 것은 아니기 때문에 정확한 품질평가를 위해서는 출력 외관에 대한 육안검사와 치수 오차율 검사를 선행하여 역학적 특성을 검토해야 할 것으로 판단된다.

상관 계수를 이용한 다층퍼셉트론의 계층별 학습 (A Layer-by-Layer Learning Algorithm using Correlation Coefficient for Multilayer Perceptrons)

  • 다층퍼셉트론의 계층별 학습 방법의 하나인 Ergezinger 방법은 출력 노드가 1개로 구성되어 있고, 출력층의 가중치를 최소자승법으로 학습하기 때문에 출력층의 가중치에 조기포화 현상이 발생할 수 있다. 이런 조기 포화현상은 학습 시간과 수렴 속도에 장애가 된다. 따라서, 본 논문은 Ergezinger의 학습 방법을 출력층에서 벡터 형태로 학습할 수 있는 알고리즘으로 확대하고 학습 시간과수렴 속도를 개선하기 위해서 학습 상수를 도입한다. 학습상수는 은닉층 가중치 조정 시, 새로이 계산된 가중치와 기존 가중치의 상관 관계를 계산하여 학습 상수에 반영하는 가변적인 방법이다. 실험은 제안된 방법과 기존 방법의 비교를 위해서 iris 문제와 비선형 근사화 문제를 대상으로 실험하였다. 실험에서, 제안 방법은 기존 Ergezinger 방법보다 학습 시간과 수렴 속도에서 우수한 결과를 얻었으며, 상관 관계를 고려한 CPU time 측정에서도 제안한 방법이 기존 방법보다 약 35%의 시간을 절약할 수 있었다.

  • A novel control method with automatic tuning of PID controller parameters has been developed for efficient regulation of dissolved oxygen concentration in fed-batch fermentations of Escherichia coli. Agitation speed and oxygen partial pressure in the inlet gas stream were chosen to be the manipulated variables. A heuristic reasoning allowed improved tuning decisions from the supervision of control performance indices and it coule obviate the needs for process assumptions or disturbance patterns. The control input consisted of feedback and feedforword parts. The feedback part was determined by PID control and the feedforward part is determined from the feed rate. The proportional gain was updated on-line by a set of heuristics rules based on the supervision of three performance indices. These indices were output error covariance, the average value of output error, and input covariance, which were calculated on-line using a moving window. The integral and derivative time constants were determined from the period of output response. The specific growth rate was maintained at a low level to avoid acetic acid accumulation and thus to achieve a high cell density. The specific growthe rate was estimated from the carbon dioxide evolution rate. In fed-batch fermentation, the simutaneous control of dissolved oxygen concentration (at 0.2; fraction of saturated value) and specific growth rate (at 0.25$hr^{-1}$) was satisfactory for the entire culture period in spite of the changes in the feed rate and the switching of control input.

현재 상태 추정기를 이용한 멀티레이트 제어에 관한 연구 (A Study on Multirate Control Using a Current Estimator)

  • A multirate state feedback control (MRSFC) method is proposed for systems sensitive to disturbance and noise based on the multirate estimator design using current estimator. MRSFC updates the controller output slower than the measurement sampling fiequency of system output by a lifting factor $R=T_c/T_s$ The closed-loop MRSFC system is less sensitive to disturbance and noise due to filtering effect than the conventional single-rate control system The multirate estimator gain can be obtained by solving a conventional pole placement problem such that MRSFC has the same spectrum of eigenvalues in the s-plane as the single-rate control. We applied the proposed multirate state feedback controller to a galvanometer servo system Simulation and experimental results show that settling and tracking performances are improved compared with a conventional single-rate pole placement control (PPC).

Korea's Demographic Transition and Long-Term Growth Projection Based on an Overlapping Generations Model

  • This paper employs an Overlapping Generations Model to quantify the impacts of Korea's demographic transition toward an older population on the total output growth rate. The model incorporates the projected population through 2060 according by Statistics Korea. The effects of the low fertility and increased life expectancy rates are studied. The model is considered suitable for analyzing the effects of demographic changes on the Korean economy. Under the assumption that the TFP growth rate will not slow considerably in the future, remaining at 1.3% per annum, the gross output growth rate of the Korean economy is projected to slow to 1.1% per annum in the 2050s, from 4.0% in the 2000s. The shrinking workforce due to the decline in fertility plays a significant role in the deceleration of the Korean economy. The increased life expectancy rate is expected to mitigate the negative effect, but the magnitude of its effect is found to be limited.

Sum-Rate Capacity with Fairness in Correlated MIMO Broadcast Channels

  • Although the maximum sum-rate capacity of multiple-input multiple output(MIMO) broadcast channels(BCs) can be achieved by dirty-paper coding(DPC), the results were obtained without fairness considerations in uncorrelated MIMO channels. In this paper, we propose new multiuser scheduling algorithms, which find a best user set for approaching the maximum sum-rate capacity while maintaining fairness among users. We analyze the performance of the proposed algorithms using zero-forcing dirty paper coding(ZF-DPC) in the correlated MIMO BCs for throughput and delay fairness, respectively. Numerical results demonstrate that a large time window can reduce the average throughput difference between users, but it increases head-of-line(HOL) delay jitters in the case of delay fairness.

A Fast Low Dropout Regulator with High Slew Rate and Large Unity-Gain Bandwidth

  • A low dropout regulator (LDO) with fast transient responses is presented. The proposed LDO eliminates the trade-off between slew rate and unity gain bandwidth, which are the key parameters for fast transient responses. In the proposed buffer, by changing the slew current path, the slew rate and unity gain bandwidth can be controlled independently. Implemented in $0.18-{\mu}m$ high voltage CMOS, the proposed LDO shows up to 200 mA load current with 0.2 V dropout voltage for $1{\mu}F$ output capacitance. The measured maximum transient output voltage variation, minimum quiescent current at no load condition, and maximum unity gain frequency are 24 mV, $7.5{\mu}A$, and higher than 1 MHz, respectively.
