Enthalpy probe with the inner and outer diameters of 1.5 mm and 4.8 mm, respectively, is designed and used to measure the temperatures and velocities along the centerline of Ar arc plasma flow until the probe was destroyed. For this purpose, Ar arc plasma flow is generated by non-transferred type DC arc heater with the power level of 17 kW. From this experiment, it is shown that the designed enthalpy probe can measure the temperature and velocity of arc plasma flow up to 12,000 K and 600 m/s, respectively, without destroy of probe tip. In this extreme case, the arc plasma flow is calculated to transfer the heat flux of ${\sim}5{\times}10^7\;W/m^2$ to the probe based on the heat and thermal boundary equations near the forward stagnation point of a body immersed in arc plasma flow. Consequently, the designed enthalpy probe can measure the wide ranges of plasma temperatures, velocities and concentrations simultaneously, which are generated by various types of arc heaters within the heat flux ranges of $0{\sim}5{\times}10^7\;W/m^2$ on the probe tip.
Ni base superalloys are composed of solid sohltion hardening elements(Co, Cr. Mo. W and so on) and $\gamma '$ precipitation hardening elements(A1, Ti, Nb, Ta and so on). To Improve the mechanical properties and oxidation resistanre of superalloys, rare earth elements(%r, Hf, Y and so on) are added to the inner substrate, or are used as coating materials. Their pffects on the growth rate and adhes~on of oxide are changed according to the kinds of oxides such as $AI_2O_3$ and $Cr_2O_3$. The effect of yttrium on the oxidation rate, grain size of oxide, internal structure, and crack resistance was investigated for two kinds of Ni-base superalloys. One in AF'115 superalloy containing Hf and the other is MA6000 superalloy containing $Y_2O_3$. They werr owid~zed at high temperature after yttrium surface modification using ion coater. Yttrium coating on the AF115 and MA6000 superalloys results in a marked change in the growth of the inner oxide. For AF115 superalloy, the degree of gram boundary segregation of $Cr_2O_3$, and prefer en^ tial oxidation of Hf are decreased, and the shape of inner oxidation layer was changed from triangle to plate type. For MA6000 superalloy, $Cr_2O_3$ oxide scale was transformed as outer oxidation layer of CrZOI and inner oxidation layer of $Cr_2O_3$.
The Pulse diagnosis is in the boundary of the Four Examinations, and it is called 切診, or palpation. It has a great impact on people in reminding of the Traditional Medicine that it is probably the first thing that people think of when they hear about Traditional Medicine. Hu-Jun quoted in the Treasured Mirror of Eastern Medicine "東醫寶鑑" that the doctor finds out the deficiency and the excess of the meridian of the patiant through the pulse, and that it is of the utmost necessity to know the "deficiency and the excess" of the meridian to decide the formula (君臣佐使) of the herbal medicine and the acupuncture/moxibustion treatment. The research on the studies of pulse diagnosis have been concentrated on the origin, history, and the theory of the pulse diagnosis throughout the years; however, the number of research on the image from the classics on pulse diagnosis have been less. With this in mind, this paper was written to study more on the origin and the history of the pulse diagnosis as well as to study on the image of pulse diagnosis shown on the classics on Traditional Medicine in China and Korea. The history of the pulse diagnosis has its root on the attempt to find out what is happening inside the body through the indication of the small changes of the pulse that is shown on the outer boundaries of the body. There were various kinds of pulse diagnosis including "Three positions and nine indicators method" and "Carotid pulsation and wrist pulse method" in the ancient period, and wrist pulse-taking method became the most popular since the completion of studying on palpation by 初보. The image of the palpation helps the rudimentary practitioners of Traditional Medicine. They are divided into two large categories, which are the area of diagnosis and the shape of the pulse itself. The historical classics including the image of the pulse diagnosis can be found since the Song Dynasty of China. There are various kinds of image of pulse diagnosis in the classic such as "The picture of the hand meridian" from "脈訣指掌病式圖說", "The picture of the image of meridian" from "察病指南", "The picture of the Seven exterior and Eight interior" from "校正圖注脈訣", and "The picture of the six parts of meridian" from Treasured Mirror of Eastern Medicine "東醫寶鑑". The Treasured Mirror of Eastern Medicine "東醫寶鑑" have analyzed the basic theories and made up the standards of pulse diagnosis by establishing "The picture of the six parts of meridian" based on "The method of placing the viscera and bowels corresponding to cun-guan-qi, or the meridian".
Rock structural and microstructural analyses on the deformed Cheongsan granite, which is characterized by abundant feldspar megacrystals, have been carried out to understand the microstructural change during the mylonitization by ductile shear deformation. In K-feldspars, the characteristic microstructures are recognized as microkinks, microfractures, myrmekites, flame perthites, and core-and-mantle structures without the development of subgrains in outer core-zone. Microkinks are observed in both the microfractured and unmicrofractured K-feldspars and the directions of their axes are generally extended across the adjacent K-feldspar fragments bounded by microfractures. Myrmekites and flame perthites are found on the strain-localized boundaries of the microfractured K-feldspars. In plagiclases, microfractures, deformation twins and kink bands are predominant. Grain size reduction of plagioclase megacrysts also occurs by microfracturing but the core-and-mantle structures like the case of K-feldspars are uncommon in the microfractured plagioclases. The deformation twins, which overlap the igneous zoning structures, are often found in less deformed rocks. The twin lamellae in more deformed rocks generally bisect the obtuse angles of conjugate kink-band boundaries, and are microfractured or microfaulted and randomly oriented. From such characteristic microstructures, thus, it can be suggested that the micostructures during the mylonitzation of Cheongsan granite was developed as follows: production of microkinks in the K-feldspar megacrysts and of deformation twins and kink bands in the plagioclase megacrysts, and then grain-size reduction of the feldspar megacrysts through microfracturing, and then production of core-and-mantle structures (grain-size reduction of the microfractured K-feldspars through grain boundary migration), myrmekites and flame perthites in the microfractured K-feldspars.

Delineation of accurate object boundaries is crucial to provide reliable spatial information products such as digital topographic maps, building models, and spatial database. In LiDAR(Light Detection and Ranging) data, real boundaries of the buildings exist somewhere between outer-most points on the roofs and the closest points to the buildings among points on the ground. In most cases, areas of the building footprints represented by LiDAR points are smaller than actual size of the buildings because LiDAR points are located inside of the physical boundaries. Therefore, building boundaries determined by points on the roofs do not coincide with the actual footprints. This paper aims to estimate accurate boundaries that are close to the physical boundaries using airborne LiDAR data. The accurate boundaries are determined from the non-gridded original LiDAR data using initial boundaries extracted from the gridded data. The similar method implemented in this paper is also found in demarcation of the maritime boundary between two territories. The proposed method consists of determining initial boundaries with segmented LiDAR data, estimating accurate boundaries, and accuracy evaluation. In addition, extremely low density data was also utilized for verifying robustness of the method. Both simulation and real LiDAR data were used to demonstrate feasibility of the method. The results show that the proposed method is effective even though further refinement and improvement process could be required.
The purpose of this research was to find an optimal quarrying for marble by analyzing the applicability and the work efficiency of a chain saw machine newly introduced in the underground Baekwoon mine. From the test results of the physical properties of Baekwoon marble, which affects the efficiency of rock cutting, it was found to have similar physical characteristics as the ones which are now being produced in the other areas in Korea. And especially it shows isotropic property, which can be thought to be advantageous as a dimensional stone. To check the long-term quality of the marble as a stone material, several tests such as corrosion resistance test and abrasion test were carried out. It was found to be vulnerable to acid rain with decrease of weight and seismic wave velocity after applying artificial rain at pH 5.6 for 50 times. The percentage of wear from abrasion test was 22.67%. The working time and cutting speed of the chain saw machine were recorded and analyzed during the test-run at the quarry. The overall work cycle was assorted into 9 unit operations and the operating time per each unit was drawn. The operating times for the two cutting patterns, which could be possibly applicable to the work site, were compared. The results indicated that the pattern B, that the cutting sequence was set to minimize the movement of the machine, showed 6% less working hours than the pattern A, which first cuts the outer boundary. With cutting pattern analysis, the ore body in the Baekwoon mine was 3 dimensionally modeled and a quarrying plan considering the existing conditions of the marble was suggested.

The effect of the migration of nanoparticles near the wall of a channel on the convective heat transfer in a laminar flow of $SiO_2$ nanoparticle suspensions (nanofluids) under constant wall heat flux boundary conditions was numerically and experimentally investigated in this study. The dynamic thermal conductivity of the aqueous $SiO_2$ nanofluids was measured using T-type thermocouples attached to the outer surface of a stainless steel circular tube (with a length of 1 m and diameter of 1.75 mm). The nanofluids used in this study were synthesized by dispersing $SiO_2$ spherical nanoparticles with a diameter of 24 nm in de-ionized water (DIW). The enhancement of the thermal conductivity of the nanofluids (e.g., an increase of up to 7.9 %) was demonstrated by comparing the temperature profiles in the flow of the nanofluids with that in the flow of the basefluids (i.e., DIW). However, this trend was not demonstrated in the computational analysis, because the numerical models were based on continuum assumptions and flow features involving nanoparticles in a stable colloidal solution. Thus, to explore the non-continuum effects, such as the modification of the morphology caused by nanoparticle-wall interactions on the heat exchanging surfaces (e.g., the isolated and dispersed precipitation of the nanoparticles), additional experiments were performed using DIW right after the measurements using the nanofluids.

In this study, a finite element analysis was performed applying a nonlinear material model and fatigue load conditions to evaluate the service life and spring stiffness of the resilient pad for rail fastening system. As a result of the fatigue analysis, the rate of change in spring stiffness compared to the initial condition was about 16%, indicating that fatigue hardening occurred. As for the stress generated in the longitudinal direction of the resilient pad, the difference between the stress generated at the center and the edge was about 10 times or more. In addition, it was analyzed that the equivalent stress of the outer boundary was more than twice as large as that of the central part. Therefore, it was analyzed that the damage and deformation of the resilient pad are the corners of the resilient pad under actual service conditions. The fatigue life diagram of the resilient pad (S-N curve) was derived using the equivalent stress of the resilient pad according to the fatigue cycles. Using the fatigue life diagram of the resilient pad derived in this study, it is considered that it can be used to predict the fatigue life under the relevant conditions by calculating the equivalent stress of the resilient pad under various load conditions.
The Miocene andesite and basalt intruded into and/or extruded on the Cretaceous volcanic and granitic rocks over the area of Chenjabong and Sirubong in the vicinity of Jinhae, southern part of Kyongsang basin. The K-Ar ages of the younger volcanic rocks are from 16 Ma (Sirubong andesite) to 10 Ma (Cheonjabong basalt), which indicate the Miocene volcanism in the outer part of the Tertiary basin in the Korean peninsula. The volcanics are divided into Chenjabong andesite, Cheonjabong basaltic andesite, Sirubong andesite and Cheonjabong basalt. The Cheonjabong andesite is composed of phenocrysts of clinopyroxene and plagioclase ($An_{60{\sim}64}$) and groundmass with lath-like plagioclase ($An_{76{\sim}84}$) and glass. The Cheonjabong basaltic andesite is composed of plagioclase phenocryst ($An_{60{\sim}64}$) with plagioclase lath ($An_{65}$) and glass in groundmass. The Sirubong andesite is only consisted of plagiocalse lath ($An_{64{\sim}68}$) and glass with absence of phonocryst. The Cheonjabong basalt shows typical porphyritic texture with phenocrysts of olivine ($Fo_{69-84}$) and clinopyroxene. The groundmass of the Cheonjabong basalt is composed of microphenocrysts of olivine, clinopyroxene and plagioclase ($An_{66{\sim}71}$) and plagioclase laths ($An_{57{\sim}65}$) showing pillotaxitic and intergranular texture. The Cheonjabong andesite, Cheonjabong basaltic andesite, Sirubong andesite are belong to calc-alkialine but the Cheonjabong basalt is alkaline basalt. By tectonic discrimination diagrams the parental magmas of the volcanic rocks have occurred boundary.

This study was conducted for developing the stability parameter in uncontrolled landfill by using a biomolecular investigation on the microbial community growing through leachate plume. Landfill J(which is in Cheonan) and landfill T(which is in Wonju) were chosen for this study among a total of 244 closed uncontrolled landfills. It addressed the genetic diversity of the microbial community in the leachate by 165 rDNA gene cloning using PCR and compared quantitative analysis of denitrifiers and methanotrophs with the conventional water quality parameters. From the BLAST search, genes of 47.6% in landfill J, and 32.5% in landfill T, respectively, showed more than 97% of the similarity where Proteobacteria phylum was most significantly observed. It showed that the numbers of denitrification genes, i.e. nirS gene and cnorB gene in the J site are 7 and 4 times higher than those in T site, which is well reflecting from a difference of site closure showing 7 and 13 years after being closed, respectively. In addition, the quantitative analysis on methane formation gene showed that J1 spot immediately bordering with the sources has the greatest number of methane formation bacteria, and it was decreased rapidly according to distribute toward the outer boundary of landfill. The comparative investigation between the number of genes, i.e. nirS gene, cnorB gene and MCR gene, md the conventional monitoring parameters, i.e. TOC, $NH_3-N,\;NO_3-N,\;NO_2-N,\;Cl^-$, alkalinity, addressed that more than 99% of the correlation was observed except for the $NO_3-N$. It was concluded that biomolecular investigation was well consistent with the conventional monitoring parameters to interpret their influences and stability made by leachate plume formed in downgradient around the uncontrolled sites.
