This study deals with the performance evaluation of writing for designing handwriting instruments ergonomically. Experimental tests were executed on ballpoint pen., felt-tip pen, pencil, sharp-pencil, and fountain pen for ease of use and reduction of the muscles fatigue. The writing time and the degree of comfort of writing by subjects were measured on the diameters of five writing instruments. The results indicated that the ballpoint pen was rated significantly superior to the others in writing speed attribute and the instrument with the least fatigue was the fountain pen. There was a significant interaction effect between the types of instruments and their size in diameters. The diameter of instruments for considering time and comfort together was verified that the size of 9.5mm was efficient for ballpoint pen, the size of 8.1mm for felt-tip pen, the size of 7.5mm for pencil, the size of 8.2mm for sharp-pencil, and the size of 9.1mm for fountain pen.
The aim of this study was to determine the normative strength value for cervical flexors, extensors and right lateral flexors, left lateral flexors to provide a guideline for rehabilitation of cervical radiculopathy patients. The isometric evaluation of cervical flexors, extensors and lateral flexors by using the Hand-held dynamometer was performed on 50 males and 50 females. The result were as follows. The average cervical muscle strength were 5.7 kg in flexor. 10.5 kg in extensors, and 6.6 kg in right lateral flexor, 6.5 kg in left lateral flexor. There was statistically significant difference between the cervical flexors and extensors(p<0.01) but no significant difference between right lateral flexor and left lateral flexor. There was statistically significant difference between male and female(p<0.01). When one of cervical muscle was strong, also the others did in subjects(p<0.01) and the body weight was significantly releated to the cervical muscle strength(p<0.01).

The deterioration rate of concrete structures in urban area is accelerated due to rapid urbanization and environmental pollution. Repair materials and methods newly introduced in Korea should be investigated whether they are appropriate for the urban environment in Korea. The creek concrete structures are exposed in severe environmental condition than others. Based on these background in mind, the study is focused on evaluation of performance on repair materials used to rehabilitate creek concrete structures. To evaluate the performance of repair materials, four kinds of repair materials were selected based on polymer emulsion. This experimental study was conducted on fundamental performance such as setting time, compressive strength, bending strength, bonding strength, thermal expansion coefficient, and durability performance such as chloride diffusion, carbonation, chemical attack, and steel corrosion rate. On the basis of this study, the optimal repair material which is proper to the environment condition can be selected and service life of creek concrete structures can be extended. As a result, the life cycle cost can be reduced and the waste of material resources will be cut down.
This study was conducted to compare volumes estimated from two taper functions and observed volumes of Chamaecyparis obtusa trees to evaluate accuracy and precision of centroid method. Centroid volume estimates were also compared with volume estimates from existing Forest Resources Evaluation and Prediction Program. The results of this study showed that Gregoire's simple taper function produced unbiased volume estimates while the others were biased. Volume estimates from the Forest Resources Evaluation and Prediction Program were also biased when applied in the Jangseong National Forest regions. These results suggested that the centroid method could produce reliable stem volumes of trees when no other reliable stem volume equations exist.
This paper aimed to verify and develop lighting design data for offices in Korea. It focused on a Korean standard office value relative to lighting density and the evaluation of lighting energy and cooling load. When planning indoor lighting design, we generally utilize the lighting density value which is set $14W/m^2$ by the ASHRAE/IES standard office value. However, the value is not appropriate to apply in Korea where higher efficiency lamps are more popular than others. For calculation of a proper lighting density of Korea, we analysed distribution curves of luminous intensity(2-lamp fluorescent lighting fixture with Parabolic) and derived the new lighting density $12.64W/m^2$ as Korea standard office value. In the simulation using this value, it was shown that lighting energy and cooling load could be reduced.
Knowledge can be more meaningful when it is shaped and personalized through interaction with others. Implementation of open learning environments such as open courseware or shared knowledge communities has gradually become more common. A case study which investigated instructors' experiences and perceptions of publishing and using open courseware in the classroom was conducted at a university in Korea. Responses from participating students and an evaluation group regarding how they perceived open learning environments were also examined. Based on the inductive analysis of the data, this study discusses advantages and challenges of publishing open courseware and collaborative learning environments. Also, practical guidelines for developing reusable learning materials are suggested.
This research investigates how loneliness affects people's preferences for products that appear in social media ads. Four studies examine the impact of loneliness that is both measured in an established scale and situationally induced via a recall task. Individuals who experience higher levels of loneliness evaluate the same products more highly when they are advertised in a social (i.e., Instagram) compared to non-social (i.e., brand website) media platform. This effect occurs because loneliness increases people's attention to others' social evaluation of a product, and social media ads provide this information via social cues such as "likes" embedded in the ads. When the social cues are absent, the advantage of advertising on social compared to non-social media for people with high (vs. low) loneliness disappears. The findings suggest that social media ads have a unique appeal for individuals experiencing loneliness and highlight the role of social cues in shaping product evaluations.

Optimal conditions for processing. of seasoned-dried Pacific saury treated with liquid smoke (T2) were evaluated by physicochemical and microbial experiments and sensory evaluation, comparing with control (seasoning only, C) and treatment I $(0.05\%\;Rosemary\;instead\;of\;liquid\;smoke,\;Tl)$. Two hrs of seasoning time was set, and 23 hrs of drying time was determined in all samples. Finally, T2 product was made by soaking treatments (three times of 1 sec, 8 sec and 1 sec) in $5\%$ (v/v) liquid smoke (Scansmoke PB 2110) after 30 min, 4 hrs and 22 hrs of hot-air drying, respectively. The histamine contents in 3 seasoned-dried products were in a 15.33-26.99 mg/l00g range. The water activities of 3 seasoned-dried products were 0.719-0.735 range, and the pH of T2 was lower than the others. In the comparison of POV and TBA values among products, the TBA values and POV of Tl and T2 were significantly low compared to C, and also the viable cell counts of T2 was relatively lower than those of the others. In the color values, significant changes were not found among products, and in the sensory evaluation for odor, taste and overall acceptance, T2 had relatively higher preference on the whole items.
A clinical evaluation was performed on 56 patients[ 60 cases ] of open thoracotomy in spontaneous pneumothorax who were admitted and treated at department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Chung Ang University, Yong San Hospital during the past 3 years from March 1990 to February 1993. The results were as follows. 1. The sex ratio was male predominence [ M:F = 7:1 ]. 2. The most common age group were 2nd, 3rd decades. 3. The most common chief complaints were dyspnea and chest pain [46.3% ]. 4. The etiologic factors of spontaneous pneumothorax were primary spontaneous pneumothorax [ 78.3%], secondary tuberculosis [ 18.3%], and others [ 3.4% ]. 5. The site of spontaneous pneumothorax was 50% in right, 40% in left, and 10% in both. 6. The state of activity on attack was almost in the usual life [ 98.3% ]. 7. Average height was 172.5 $\pm$ 5.39 cm in male and 164.0 $\pm$ 3.51 cm in female, average weight was 59.1 $\pm$ 7.06 kg in male and 52.0 $\pm$ 4.97 kg in female. 8. The common indications of open thoracotomy were recurrence [ 34.4% ] and persistent air leakage [ 17.8% ]. 9. The operative procedures were bullectomy [ 73.3% ], partial resection [ 11.7% ], lobectomy [ 11.7% ], and others [ 3.3% ]. 10. The most frequent location of bulla or bleb were apical segment of RUL [ 43.3 % ] and apicoposterior segment of LUL [ 40.0% ]. 11. The number of visible bulla or bleb were mainly 1 to 5, and size was about 1 to 3 cm.
The objective of this study is to evaluate the hybrid downscaling method combined Step-Wise Scaling (SWS) method with Regional Climate Model (RCM) simulation data for climate change impact study on hydrology area. The SWS method is divided by 3 categories (extreme event, dry event and the others). The extreme events, wet-dry days and the others are corrected by using regression method, quantile mapping method, mean & variance scaling method. The application and evaluation of SWS method with 3 existing and popular statistical techniques (linear scaling method, quantile mapping method and weather generator method) were performed at the 61 weather stations. At the results, the accuracy of corrected simulation data by using SWS are higher than existing 3 statistical techniques. It is expected that the usability of SWS method will grow up on climate change study when the use of RCM simulation data are increasing.
