Here we introduce the clinical possibilities of application in Korean medicine through Hakomi therapy. Methods : At first, we present the definition, basic principles, terms and outline of Hakomi therapy in reference to "Body-centered psychotherapy The Hakomi Method," published by Ron Kurtz. Then we study the clinical application of Hakomi therapy on Korean medicine. Results : There are many similarities between Hakomi and Korean medicine, such as Mind-Body holism, organicity through homeostasis of living things, non-violent attitude of therapist like Tao, and emphasis on breathing by corresponding with Nature. Also, there are similarities in methods, such as Ohjisangseung, Iijungbyunqi, and Qigong. Hence, Hakomi therapy can be useful in Korean psychotherapy. Conclusions : If we can graft Hakomi therapy onto Korean psychotherapy, it will be efficacious for Korean psychotherapy to be systematized.

  • Donguibogam's views on human life provide us with insight into suicide prevention by perceiving life as priceless. In addition to the approaches of modern medicine, we can employ 'mentally and physically integrative treatment' and 'prevention-based treatment' from Korean medicine as a therapeutic point of view. We can also employ 'I-Jeong-Byeon-Gi Therapy' and 'Oh-Ji-Sang-Seung Therapy' as therapeutic methods. In this paper, we consider these approaches and clinical adaptations for suicide prevention from the perspectives of Korean medicine.

  • Dreams are experiences of life that is recognized to have taken place in .the mind while asleep. The phenomenon of dreams is occured by external stimuli such as somatic factor and emotion-arousing pre-sleep stimuli. The contents of dreams reflect the dreamer's unique psychic situation, we can view them from category of Yin and Yang and the Five Elements(陰陽五行). Also dreams are characterized by an objectivity that provides whatever in necessary for psychic balance, regardless of the ego's wishes. Hence dreams are objective sources of psychotherapy. The doctor must not treat patient by the doctor's subject mind. The Orient has taken the idea that human beings have the divine center in the heart, so dreams in the psychotherapy of the oriental medicine are more valuable as representation of inner world. The images of dream are classified as the deficiency and excessiveness of Yin-Ki and Yang-Ki of the internal organs, an property and source of stimulus. Dream applies to diagnose the disease of internal organs and to decide to the method of medical treatment.
