Factors Affecting Foreign Workers' Turnover Intentions

  • Purpose: As the proportion of foreigners participating in the domestic labor market is gradually increasing, problems caused by social and cultural differences have also been expressed. As such, the purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of organizational justice and social support on psychological and cultural adaptation and its effect on turnover intention. Research design, data and methodology: The data was collected for foreign workers who visited the Foreign Workers Support Center operated by the Korea Human Resources Development Service. A total of 224 data were analyzed from March 1 to March 30, 2019 and was analyzed through frequency analysis for basic work environment of foreign workers, factor analysis for reliability and validity of variables, and overall structural model analysis. Results: Organizational fairness did not appear to affect psychological adaptation and significant cultural adaptation but social support had a significant effect. Psychological adjustment did not affect turnover intention, and cultural adaptation had a significant effect on turnover intention. Conclusions: Thus, in order to reduce the intention of turnover and adapt well to the working environment, it would be more efficient to find ways to raise the level of psychological adaptation by strengthening social support rather than organizational fairness.

  • In general, members of an organization want their own growth and development. As these members grow or develop, they feel satisfied and fulfilled in the process. Growth or development can motivate members to become more involved in their jobs. Therefore, these concepts are very important for organizations as well as individual members. Various elements of the organization affect the growth of its members. Leaders influence members to achieve organizational goals. Leaders can therefore be an important variable influencing the growth of members. Specific leadership informally develops the potential to identify and satisfy members' personal needs and to achieve higher performance. These leader behaviors motivate members and drive their growth. Thus, this leadership will have a significant impact on the growth of members. In addition, in this relationship, if members have perceived organizational support, they can further improve their expectations for growth. Therefore, support from leaders and organizations will have a positive impact on employee growth. This study highlights the importance of the growth of members of the organization. It demonstrates the moderating effects of leader's individualized consideration and perceived organizational support necessary elements for member growth. Through this process, the purpose and significance of the study are to identify the variables that affect the personal growth of members and explain how they can grow.

병원직원들의 직무만족도 요인 및 결과 - 7개 국립대학교 병원 직원을 중심으로 - (Job Satisfaction and Performance for the Employees in National University Hospitals)

  • The objectives of this research are to examine the factors influencing the employees' satisfaction and to investigate that the employees' satisfaction effects the organizational commitment on seven National University's hospitals. The data for this analysis were collected by questionnaire survey. 657 usable questionnaires were returned, a 78.2%, response rate. The major statistical methods used for the analysis are factor analysis, t-test and hierarchical multiple regression. The findings suggest that four components of job satisfaction are selected: these are "task", "organizational operation system", "opportunity of development", "interpersonnel". Highly satisfied employees turn to organizational commitment such as responsibility of organization and retention. Futhermore the findings suggest that responsibility is affected by work period, task satisfaction, opportunity of development. And retention is affected by work period, role as teaching hospital, and task satisfation. This study concludes with a discussion of the managerial relevance of the findings and future research directions.

전자상거래 개발을 위한 코디네이션 접근 방식 (Coordination Approach for Electronic Commerce Development)

  • Successful Electronic Commerce(EC) requires not only a transformation of the supply chain but a redesign of organizational processes as well. Just as the organizations in a supply chain must cooperate with each other to achieve a collective goal, so too do the departments and groups that comprise an organization depend on each other to achieve the organization's goals. A lack of coordination at either of these levels can result in poor performance and high coordination costs. In addition, changes in inter-organizational dependencies can affect the dependencies within the affected organizations. The lack of coordination across two levels results in a transition gap in transforming the inter-organizational design to the intro-organizational design in EC deployments. The purpose of this research is to develop a modeling method for coordination, managing the linkage between inter- and intra-organizations in EC deployments. The method was applied to the EC development project of a cable TV home-shopping company. The coordination approach enabled us to manage dependencies among the coordination elements and identify the effect of a change on other elements, which became the basis for effective EC deployments. We will discuss the method and compare it with other dependency management methods.

초보간호사의 LIFO 행동유형에 따른 직무 스트레스, 직무만족도와 조직몰입 (Job Stress, Job Satisfaction, and Organizational Commitment according to Life Organization (LIFO) Behavior Type of Novice Nurses)

  • Purpose: This study was done to provide data that would contribute to effective task performance in clinical nursing and development of nursing professional by understanding job stress, job satisfaction and organizational commitment according to Life Organization (LIFO) behavior types of novice nurses. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional survey and the participants were 313 novice nurses who worked in one university hospital located in the city of Gwangju. Data were collected through the structured questionnaires that included general characteristics, job stress, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment scales. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and ANOVA with SPSS/WIN 19.0. Results: Regarding job stress according to LIFO behavior types of novice nurses, there were statistically significant differences between the favorable situation and the unfavorable situation. There were also statistically significant differences regarding the organizational commitment according to LIFO behavior types. Conclusion: The results indicate a difference in behavior patterns of novice nurses that suggest a need for education in order to reduce stress from the job and enhance organizational commitment by developing each nurse's preferred pattern and compensating for unfavorable patterns, as well. There also needs to be nursing resources that take into consideration behavior patterns of novice nurses.

객체지향 다이어그램을 이용한 기업간 프로세스의 통합에 관한 실증적 연구 (An Empirical Study about the Impacts of Object-Oriented Diagrams On the Inter-Organizational Process Integration)

  • Recently, as the importance placed on the design phase of system development has increased, the use of diagrams to design the overall system before implementing the actual program code has seen a proportionate increase. This study focuses on the diverse diagrams depicting organizational processes when integrating multiple processes of individual organizations to form an Inter-Organizational System(IOS). In this study, we attempt to identify the critical representation features of process diagrams that enable the effective integration of Inter-Organizational processes. In particular, the effect of the mapping relationship between the representation features of different diagrams to be integrated was tested empirically in a laboratory setting. The experimental task consisted of integrating the processes of two organization based upon the given process diagrams. Actual business processes were selected from real world cases and process diagrams were formulated based upon existing object-oriented notation. An analysis of the errors committed by the subjects during the integration process indicated that the mapping relationship between the diagram features representing the respective organizational processes had a significant impact upon the final integration outcome. Based upon these results, the present study provides a guideline for process diagrams that are crucial to effective Inter-Organizational process implementation and maintenance.

외식기업 조직진단모형 개발에 관한 연구 - 델파이 기법으로 - (An Organizational Diagnostic Model for Food Service Firms Using the Delphi Technique)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify a suitable organizational diagnostic model for analyzing the management efficiency of food service firms. We used the three-iteration Delphi technique on a panel of 19 business employees, 7 industry experts, and 4 employees in the food service industry. A total of 36 assessment indicators were developed through this panel, with numerous major findings. First, it is important to evaluate the leadership qualities of employees in terms of their motivation and competency. Second, it is important to evaluate the ability of employees to interface well with other employees. Third, it is important to evaluate and manage the brand image recognized by customers. Fourth, it is important to evaluate the fairness and regularity of the rewards given for an excellent job performance. Fifth, it is important to evaluate the level of communication and information distribution in the organizational culture. Last, but not least, it is important to evaluate the transparency and fairness of an organization in its human resource management (HRM) and the efficiency of its organizational structure. In conclusion, this study empirically shows how food service firms can develop an organizational diagnostic model to increase their managerial efficiency.

임상간호사의 일터영성과 감성지능이 조직시민행동에 미치는 영향 (The Influences of Workplace Spirituality and Emotional Intelligence on the Organizational Citizenship Behavior for Clinical Nurses)

  • Objectives : This study was done to identify the influences of workplace spirituality and emotional intelligence on the organizational citizenship behavior of clinical nurses. Methods : The subjects were 230 clinical nurses, working over 6 months in four general hospitals in three cities. Data were obtained from March 20 to March 30, 2016, with a self-report questionnaire, and analyzed using the IBM SPSS 21.0 program. Results : The factors related to the organizational citizenship behavior of nurses were workplace spirituality(${\beta}$=.36), emotional intelligence(${\beta}$=.29), 40 years of age or higher(${\beta}$=.26), working in a special ward(${\beta}$=.11), and turnover intention(${\beta}$=.10). These variables explained 61.6% of the variance in organizational citizenship behavior of nurses. Conclusions : In order to improve the quality of nursing services and business performance in hospital organizations, it is necessary to enhance workplace spirituality and emotional intelligence. This would lead to promoting organizational citizenship behavior through the development and application of intervention programs from a nursing organization perspective.

R&D 인력의 사회적 네트워크와 자아존중감이 조직몰입과 경력지향성에 미치는 영향 (Influence of R&D Employees' Social Network and Self-Esteem on Organizational Commitment and Career Orientation)

  • The effective management of R&D employees is critical for a small or medium sized firm's sustainable growth. R&D employees have professional skills and choose expertise-oriented or management-oriented careers in the process of organizational socialization. This study synthetically verifies the direct and indirect effects of R&D employees' social network and self-esteem on their career orientation by organizational commitment based on social network theory and social recognition theory. The research model has been analyzed through structural equation modeling using survey responses from 220 R&D employees at small- and medium-sized firms in Korea. The analysis results show that internal network activities have direct and indirect impacts on organizational commitment and career orientation, but external network activities do not have significant effects on self-esteem, organizational commitment, or career orientation. There is no consensus in prior studies on whether expert orientation and management orientation are distinct concepts. In this study, these two types of orientation are verified as distinct concepts. It is also found that R&D employees' internal network activities are significant factors for a company's growth. A company should implement an educational system of roles and duties using which individuals can pursue career progression. In addition, it is necessary to provide career development programs such as job rotation, mentoring, and career counseling.

E-Commerce Performance Based on Knowledge Management and Organizational Innovativeness

  • Purpose: This study focuses on the performance of the strategy of Indonesia's companies in facing the development of e-commerce business. The relationship between Knowledge Management (Organizational Memory, Knowledge Sharing, Knowledge Absorption, Knowledge Acceptance), Organizational Innovativeness, Competitive Advantage (Time, Quality, Cost, Flexibility) and E-Commerce (Humanistic Factors: Management, Competence, Organizational Structures) examined in this case study. Research design, data, and methodology: This study uses two types such us qualitative and quantitative. A survey approach were conducted to collect data from the Group of Companies (Director and Manager), Academician (Lecturer), Regulator (Head of Government Institution Division), and Master of Management (at least five years). Total of 114 samples was collected and processed for statistical analysis using Smart PLS. Results: This study provide the findings proved that Knowledge Management and Organization Innovativeness simultaneously have positive influence on Competitive Advantage, while Knowledge Management, Organization Innovativeness, and Competitive Advantage simultaneously have positive influence on E-commerce where Competitive Advantage positively influence to E-commerce. Conclusions: The implementation of strategies or steps in this study are expected to steer and motivate an organization to successfully implement a good knowledge management system to pass on knowledge from generation to generation in the company Organizational Innovativeness strategies to improve e-commerce performance.
