Effect of Winter Crop Cultivation on Soil Organic Carbon and Physico-chemical Properties Under Different Rice-forage Cropping Systems in Paddy Soil

  • Soil organic carbon plays an important role on soil physico-chemical properties and crop yields in paddy soil. However, there is little information on the soil organic carbon under different forage cultivation during winter season in rice paddy. In this study, we investigated the soil organic carbon and physico-chemical properties in 87 fields of paddy soil cultivated with Barley, rye, and Italian ryegrass (IRG) as animal feedstock during winter season. Organic carbon was 12.9, 14.3, and $16.9g\;C\;kg^{-1}$ in soil with barley, rye, and IRG cultivation, respectively. Among rice-forage cultivation systems, the rice+IRG cropping system was 19.5% higher than in the mono-rice cultivation. Bulk density ranged from 1.17 to $1.28g\;cm^{-3}$ irrespective of cropping systems, and had strongly negative correlation with the soil organic carbon in the rice+IRG cropping system. Carbon storage in rice+IRG cropping systems was average $29.6Mg\;ha^{-1}$ at 15 cm of soil depth, which was 20.4 and 10.3% higher than those of barley and rye cultivation. Increasing carbon storage in paddy soil contributed to the fertility for following rice cultivation. This results indicated that IRG cultivation during winter season could be an alternative and promising way to enhance soil organic carbon content and fertility of paddy soil.

벼 유기재배 농법별 경영성과 분석 (Analysis of Economic Effects for Organic Cultivation Agriculture in Rice)

  • In this study, of currently being implemented organic cultivation in rice, the economic effects of snail agriculture, natural circulation agriculture, stevia agriculture and art nature agriculture were compared and analyzed. Analysis results showed that the economic effects of selling price per 10a, gross margin and agricultural income were increased, compared to those of previous agricultural techniques. In addition, the comparison results of economic effects by agricultural techniques showed that the agricultural income per 10a of organic cultivation were increased from the national average, compared to that of conventional cultivation. These economic effects analysis by agricultural techniques can help in the decisionmaking of farmers for the adoption of agricultural techniques in the future.

  • The initial investment of rice cultivation by mechanical technique was high. This was only due to the cost of planting machine. We analysed the overall cost (without machine cost) and benefits of the two methods, it manifested that the mechanical method is very much beneficial over traditional rice cultivation technique. We observed that the requirement of soil, irrigation water, number of seeds etc. decreased in mechanical cultivation technique while net income increase by 13.07% with 80% government subsidy. Furthermore, the initial rooting was quicker, growth and development of pot raised seedlings was better than the traditional technique. Hence, this technique can give better return to the farmers with the help of government subsidy.

  • 1. 토양조건은 배수가 양호한 양토인 안룡통 보통답으로 칼륨을 제외하고는 우리나라 논토양의 평균 함량보다 낮은 토양이었다. 유기질비료로 처리구는 질소 표준시비량인 9kg/10a과 비슷한 N-P-K=8.45-4.89-9.24kg/10a를 시용한 반면 관행구는 표준시비량보다 많은 N-P-K=14.5-6.3-10.8kg/10a를 시용하였다. 2. 벼 수확 후 시험구 토양내 미생물상 분포를 조사한 결과 박테리아와 방선균의 수는 처리구에서 약간 높게 나타났고, 곰팡이의 수는 관행구에서 약간 높게 나타났다. 토양내 가수분해효소 생성미생물을 조사한 결과 호평벼 처리구에서 키틴분해미생물과 인산분해 미생물 분포가 다소 높게 나타났다. 3. 병해충 발생정도는 전체적으로 처리구에서는 미미하게 발생하였다. 그러나 관행구에서 특히 호평벼에서 도복과 이삭도열병이, 잎집무늬마름병은 두 품종 공히 심하게 발생하였다. 혹명나방은 온누리에서 발생율이 높았는데 이는 질소 과다 시용으로 판단되었다. 4. 호평벼와 온누리 공히 관행구가 처리구에 비해 간장과 수장은 약간 길고, 주당수수는 많았다. 그러나 잎집무늬마름병 및 이삭도열병, 혹명나방 도복 등으로 등숙비율이 현저히 떨어졌다. 관행구는 천립중이 낮았으며 수량이 호평벼는 38%, 온누리는 13% 떨어졌다. 5. 병해충인 이삭도열병, 잎집무늬마름병, 혹명나방과 수량과의 관계에서 유의성이 높은 부의 상관관계가 나타났다. 6. 백미의 품질도 관행구에서 쇄립율의 증가로 완전미 비율은 낮고, 단백질함량이 높아 전반적인 품질 및 윤기치가 낮아졌다.

Managing Soil Organic Matter and Salinity by Crop Cultivation in Saemangeum Reclaimed Tidal Land

  • This study was to evaluate the effect of organic amendments incorporation on soil properties and plant growth under two different soil salinity levels and various cultivated crops at Saemangeum reclaimed tidal land for three years from 2012 to 2014. The soil texture of the experimental site was sandy loam. Four different crops, sesbania (Sesbania grandiflora), sorghum-sudangrass hybrid (Sorghum bicolor-Sorghum sudanense), rice (Oryza sativa L.) and barley (Hordeum vulgare) were cultivated at low (< $1dS\;m^{-1}$) and high (> $4dS\;m^{-1}$) soil salinity levels. The soil salinity was significantly lowered at the rice cultivation site compared to continuous upland crops cultivation site in high soil salinity level. But the soil salinity was increased as cultivating sesbania coutinuously in low soil salinity level. The soil organic matter content was increased with the incorporation of straw at the continuous site of rice and barley, and the average of soil organic matter was increased by $0.9g\;kg^{-1}$ per year which was effective in soil aggregate formation. The highest biomass yield plot was found in barley (high salinity level) and sesbania (low salinity level) cultivation site, respectively. Our research indicates that rice cultivation in paddy field with high salinity level was effective in lowering soil salinity and sesbania cultivation was useful to biomass production at upland with low salinity. In conclusion, soil salinity and organic matter content should be considered for multiple land use in newly reclaimed tidal land.

Forecasting of plant disease and insect for an agricultural complex and farm in environment-friendly cultivation of Rice (Oryza sativa L.)

  • To investigate the forecasting of plant disease and insect for an agricultural complex and farm in environment-friendly cultivation of Rice, environment-friendly agricultural five complexs and five farms were selected in Youngam and Naju area, Jonnam, Korea. Preventation objects of plant disease and insect were leaf blast, neck blast, sheath blight, bacterial leaf blight, and hopper. Factors of sheath blight occurrence in environment-friendly agricultural complex were a fast transplanting time and a narrow planting density. Bacterial leaf blight in rice occurred severely in the area under water. Rice growth in environment-friendly agricultural complex was decreased heavy drying by hopper appearance.

남부지방 벼 유기농법 유형별 투입기술체계 비교분석 (Comparative Analysis of Technical System by Six Organic Rice Cultivation Type in the Southern Provinces)

  • 본 연구는 2011년부터 2012년까지 주로 남부지방에서 재배되고 있는 민간실천 유기농법 6종에 대한 유기 벼 재배기술체계를 조사하여 우수농법은 영농활용자료로 보급코자 벼 유기농법 유형별 재배면적, 농가수, 품종, 작부체계, 토양관리, 시비, 병충해 잡초방제, 환경보전기능 및 10a당 수량과 농가수취가격 등을 조사 하였다. 전남북, 경남 등 남부 지방 8개시군 115농가를 대상으로 현지방문 또는 설문조사를 실시하였다. 조사 결과 벼 유기농법별 기술체계는 최대한 무투입(방임) 또는 최소투입을 원칙으로 하고 있었다. 작부체계는 대부분 맥류/녹비작물/벼를 경운 또는 무경운으로 재배하고, 품종은 일본도입 품종이나 그 지방 장려품종 중에서 선택 혼합되어 재배하고 있었다. 토양관리는 일체 시비하지 않고 볏짚, 보리짚을 그대로 이용하거나, 자가제조 퇴 액비나 토착미생물을 이용하고, 병충해 방제는 일체 무방제 하거나 친환경유기농자재를 구입사용 또는 천연식물추출물, 토착미생물, 한방제 등을 자가제조 사용하였다. 제초는 맥류 짚을 활용하거나, 왕우렁이를 이용하였다. 긴꼬리 투구새우 및 풍년새우 복원 및 메뚜기 다발생 등으로 보아 환경생태보전기능은 조사농법 모두 우수 한 것으로 판명 되었다. 10a당 생산수량은 생명환경농법>자연순환농법>스테비아농법>지장농법>예술자연농법>태평농법 순이었으나, kg당 농가수취가격은 반대의 경향을 나타내어 단순 수익성은 큰 차이를 보이지 않았으나, 조사 농법 모두 관행농법에 비해 수량성은 낮았다. 재배안전성은 스테비아농법, 자연순환농법, 생명환경농법은 비교적 높았고 태평농법, 예술자연농법 및 지장농법은 비교적 낮았다. 본 연구결과로 볼 때 재배안전성 및 실천용이성 등을 고려할 경우 스테비아, 자연순환, 생명환경 농법은 농가활용이 가능할 것으로 사료된다.

Evaluation of Methane Emissions with Water Regime before the Cultivation Period in Paddy Fields

  • Anaerobic decomposition of organic material in flooded rice fields produces methane, which escapes to the atmosphere primarily by transport through the rice plants. The annual amount of $CH_4$ emitted from a given area of rice is a function of the number and duration of crops grown, water regimes before and during cultivation period, and organic and inorganic soil amendments. Soil type, temperature, and rice cultivar also affect $CH_4$ emissions. The field experiment was conducted for three years to develop methane emission factor for water regime before the cultivation period from the rice fields. It was treated with three different water regimes prior to rice cultivation, namely: non-flooded pre-season < 180 days, non-flooded pre-season > 180 days, flooded per-season in which the minimum flooding interval is set to 30 days. Methane emission increased with days after transplanting and soil redox potential (Eh) decreased rapidly after flooding during the rice cultivation. The average methane emission fluxes were $5.47kg\;CH_4\;ha^{-1}day^{-1}$in flooded pre-season > 30 days, 5.04 in non-flooded pre-season < 180 days and 4.62 in non-flooded pre-season > 180. Methane emission flux was highly correlated with soil temperature and soil Eh. Rice yields showed no difference among treatments with water regime before the cultivation period.

유기농 복합생태 논습지의 토양 미생물 다양성 증진 효과 (Effect of Soil Microbial Diversity in Paddy Wetland under Organic Rice-Fish Mixed Farming System)

  • 본 연구는 상시 담수 상태의 복합생태 논습지에서 유기농 벼-큰징거미새우 복합생산 조건 시 1) 논습지 토양 화학성 및 세균 군집 특성을 파악하여 토양 화학성과 세균 간의 상관관계를 분석하고, 2) 유기농 벼 단작 토양과 관행 벼 단작 토양의 세균 군집과 비교하여 유기농 복합생태 토양의 미생물 다양성을 비교 분석하는 것이다. 토양 화학성의 경우 유기농 복합생산 운영 기간이 길수록 유효인산과 유기물 함량이 증가한다. 모든 토양 시료에서 문(Phylum) 수준의 세균 분석 결과 9개의 주요 문이 분포되어 있으며, 모든 토양 시료에서 Proteobacteria가 우점하고 있다. 속(Genus) 수준 분셕 결과 37개의 주요 속이 분류되었으며, 벤다이어그램 분석 결과 모든 토양 시료에 존재하는 250개의 OTU가 분류되었고, 유기농 벼재배 토양에 특화된 561개의 OTU가 관찰되었다. 주좌표분석 결과 관행 벼 단작 토양의 세균 군집과 비교하여 유기농 벼 단작 토양과 유기농 복합생태 논습지 토양의 세균 군집 간 유사도가 높은 것으로 나타났다.

DEA를 활용한 중국 벼 직파농가의 경영효율성 분석 (An Analysis of the Management Efficiency for the Rice seeding Farmer in China Using DEA Model)

  • In recent years, the development of rice industry has been highly valued by the state. In hubei area, due to the development of the modernization and the shortage of labor, traditional way of rice cultivation methods is facing serious challenges, and economic benefits have become the decisive factor for the effective promotion and application of rice cultivation methods. According to the research results, first, in the input-side analysis, in the CCR model, D5, D12, D26, D28, D32, D36 farmers with high efficiency appear. The analysis result shows that among the 60 farmers, the average efficiency is 89%, and there is an inefficiency of 11%. In the BCC model, 14 farmers were identified as high-efficiency farmers, with an average efficiency of 0.9453. Second, in direct seeding cultivation of rice, the average scale efficiency is 0.9227, while the average pure technical efficiency is 0.9644. This shows that the effect of scale efficiency is greater than that of purely technical factors, ignoring the reasons for the low operational efficiency of direct seeding cultivation farmers. It can be predicted that with the further deepening of farmers' understanding of this planting mode, the proportion of rice direct seeding may be further expanded in the future. Relevant agricultural departments should further promote this technology to farmers, study the direct seeding technology using scientific methods, and evaluate the changes of this cultivation mode. The agricultural departments of government should concern about the climate risk assessment of direct seeding rice, the environmental impact assessment caused by the extensive use of herbicides, the application of mechanical technology in the process of direct seeding, the lodging of direct seeding rice, and other related issues.
