Recently. together with consumers' increasing concerns on food safety and environmental issues. there is increasing demand on the environmentally friendly agricultural products such as organic products. At present, Japan. as a biggest net importing country of the agricultural products. is a market of the international-scale in the organic product marketing. Also. it is expected that the possibility of market expansion in the future is very high. According to the 2000 agricultural census in Japan. the number of the environment-friendly agricultural farmers were 501.556 householders. This number is about 145 percent higher than that of the 1996 results of 204,600 householders. Organic products in Japan were mainly marketed through the producer and consumer cooperation, producers' cooperation, specialized marketing company etc. However, along with the department store, big supermarket and others' participation in the market recently, the marketing channels are diversified. As of October 1999, market sales of the organic products were estimated about 350 billion yen. It is expected that organic certification system, organic products import, resturant industry scale and others will be more influential factors on the market expansion of the organic products in the future.
This paper describes the market development and marketing strategy of organic products in European Union(EU), where organic products market has grown rapidly due to a variety of factors. According to several surveys environmentally friendly agricultural products widely meet consumers demand, but the corresponding market share in Korea is less than 4.0%. Missing confidence in the authenticity of organic products, high prices compared to other foods, a low density of distribution, and a lack of a uniform label are regarded as hampering factors for market growth. The influence of the image of organic products on market development, however, is analyzed insufficiently by now. This paper therefor aims at investigating the implications of the marketing strategy and image of organic foods on its acceptance by consumers and deriving hints for the development of the market. The actual study is based on a concept of morphological market research, the result refer to Germany, Swiss, Austria.
The object of this study is to analyze marketing situations and to suggest developing issues for organic farming. Organic agricultural products (OAP) has been steadily grown by an annual 36.4 percent over the past ten years, and production of OAP took up 4.5 percent of the Environmentally friendly agricultural products (EFAP) in 2009. 9,403 farmers, cultivated area 13,343ha and production 108,810 M/T in Organic agriculture are respectively formed 0.8 percent, 0.8 percent and 0.6 percent of Korea agriculture in 2009. And production of livestock products to have been certificated from the year 2005 was over 10,000M/T in 2008. OAP is mainly distributed by direct marketing system. The market size of OAP is 188.5 billion in 2008 and has been grown by an annual 30.1 percent. The price difference between OAP and general agricultural products is about 65.8 percent. Several issues on the marketing system of OAP are as follows : overcost of OAP marketing socially, imbalance of supply and demand, absence of standard price, institutional insufficiency to marketing within wholesale market, retail price inflexibility of consumer's cooperative, and so on.
This work is described as an early effort to study organic products marketing. Discusses the characteristics, barriers and vitalization strategies of developing new markets in an environment of increasing consumer awareness and marketability of organic products. Barriers to developing new markets for organic products include lack of basic information or poor understanding among farmers of sustainable techniques and practices, poor access to markets, high start-up costs, lack of understanding the developing market, uncertainty in marketing and pricing, consumer habits, inadequate financing, including resistance to paying premium prices, misinformation and misapprehension concerning the production of organic products. Recommends strategies for implementing sustainable systems, e.g., involve government agencies, educating and organizing both farmers, processors, and consumers developing marketing and distribution programs. Examines business strategies that have successfully targeted markets, such as advertising, labeling, public relations and communications, gaining consumer trust, partnerships, and diversifying operations.
One of the first important strategic decisions when a starting an organic marketing initiative (OMI) is to plan the right strategy for distributing products. This decision depends to a large extent on whether the OMI has chosen a quality-premium product strategy or a price-quantity strategy. All distribution decisions interact strongly with other aspects of the marketing mix. Where and how a product is distributed objectives, its chosen strategy and the availability of human and capital resources. To select a market channel, frequent contact and discussions with possible partner are important. Generally, a distribution is made between the direct and indirect physical distribution of organic products to consumers. The longer the supply chain, the lower the chances that an OMI can steer the market through its own marketing measures and convince consumers through its own promotion activities. Generally speaking, the shorter the chain between OMI products and the final consumer, the less dependent the OMI will be on the success of other market actors. Direct selling activities to the retail or food industries also requires an OMI to undertake additional processing and marketing activities. For example, retailers often expect products to have been packed and labelled ready for sale. To conclude, distribution channels should be chosen in accordance with the product and price policy as well as the management capacity of the OMI.
The overall focus of this study was to identify marketing and promotion strategies that can maintain and enhance environmentally friendly farm and organic production and processing activities. This is particularly important as the volume of environmentally friendly farm and organic produce that is generally available is increasing, and significant players, such as Organic Marketing Initiatives(OMI) and conventional marketing co-operatives, are becoming involved in the market. The rapid increase in production of environmentally friendly farm products and organic food is creating new and more complex challenges for marketing, from vegetable box schemes large co-operatives supplying the precise quality and volume required by supermarkets. A possible strategy for many farmers is to co-operate in regionally or nationally operating marketing initiatives. The main objective of any public relations(PR) activity should to enhance publicity and to improve an OMIs image. No promotion, no perception of OMI performance.
The objective of this paper is to evaluate the feasibility of exporting Korean organic agricultural products to Japanese market. To achieve the objective, we explored the marketing trend of organic agricultural products in Japan and surveyed marketing dealers and food processors that deal with organic foods. We also analyzed Korean farmers' intention of acquiring organic Japanese Agricultural Standard(JAS) certificate in order to export organic agricultural products. The results show that mini tomato is economically feasible to acquire organic JAS certificate but other agricultural products need more attentions. The results also suggest that the education of production and safety management using the international standards such as Japanese Agricultural Standard should be strengthened by local government to promote export of organic agricultural products. The paper implies that producers acquiring organic Japanese Agricultural Standard should be systematization to get larger scale and to guarantee the stability in export supply.

Hansalim has the movement goal of values and a world view for all lives, and so produces, distributes and consumes the EFOP as a way of achieving the goal. Hansalim was founded in 1986, and has about 130,000 members, the total sales of about 93.6 billions, 19 regional hansalims and one logistics center in 2006. Product strategy and promotion strategy are remarkable among green marketing mix of hansalim. Product strategy focuses safety, the environmental intimacy, differentiation and superiority of products. And the characteristics of promotion strategy are spontaneity, the self-control, cooperative spirit, mutual trust and close relationship among producers, consumers and staffs in charge.

For the reason why they choose the organic products ; 84.7% for health and safe, 48.6% for taste. But the reason why they not choose the organic products ; 56.7% for unconvenient to shop an organic food, 51.4% for expensiveness. On the purchasing the consumer mainly rely upon the certification label(67%), the marketing place(29.6%) and information and recommendation of shopkeeper(23.6%). Korean consumers intend to buy an organic products if variable products and crops are offered in the market and offered at reduced price. The group purchased intensively the organic goods appraise for an organic products positively, and group who do not express any careless intend never to purchase an organically grown products because of its high price. Consumer indicated the support policy and action program by government(69.2%), research & development on organic agriculture and its extension activity(48.8%) are necessary to stimulate an organic agriculture in Korea.
This study analyzed marketing activities of producers' organization on organic farming products(O.F.Ps), and was inquired into direction of consumption increase by it. As a result, in order to raise marketing efficiency and to increase consumption of O.F.Ps, the present questions and issues which are to be solved is as follows: Consumer's confidence for O.F.Ps should be obtained broadly and formally. Particulary, the use of brand such as 'no pollution' or ' no pesticides' should be forbidden without institutional certification. Thus cosumers should be able to distinguish O.F.Ps from general farming products(G.F.Ps) by the brand. Also physical marketing is inefficient since many items are marketed in small amount, and marketing cost is spendedtoo much relatively. Physical marketing center to cut down this expenses should be constructed under government support largely. And the consumers' price of O.F.Ps tends to be fixed all the year round. Owing to this feature, the consumers' price of G.F.Ps have severely influece upon at once demand and supply of O.F.Ps. The associations of consumer and producer should allow O.F.Ps price to fluctuate in proportion to G.F.Ps price. Besides, both should vary marketing patterns. Finally, government should help both associations legally and institutionally to improve all economic activities.
