Light soaking (LS) stability in polymer solar cells (PSCs) has always been a challenge to achieve due to unstable photoactive layer-electrode interface. Especially, the electron transport layer (ETL) and photoactive layer interface limits the LS stability of PSCs. Herein, we have modified the most commonly used and robust zinc oxide (ZnO) ETL-interface using an organic dye molecule and a co-adsorbent. Power conversion efficiencies have been slightly improved but when these PSCs were subjected to long term LS stability chamber, equipped with heat and humidity (45℃ and 85% relative humidity), an outstanding stability in the case of ZnO/dye+co-adsorbent ETL containing devices have been achieved. The enhanced LS stability occurred due to the suppressed interfacial defects and robust contact between the ZnO and photoactive layer. Current density as well as fill factors have been retained after LS with the modified ETL as compared to un-modified ETL, owing to their higher charge collection efficiencies which originated from higher electron mobilities. Moreover, the existence of less traps (as observed from light intensity-open circuit voltage measurements and dark currents at -2V) are also found to be one of the reasons for enhanced LS stability in the current study. We conclude that the mitigation ETL-surface traps using an organic dye with a co-adsorbent is an effective and robust approach to enhance the LS stability in PSCs.
Organic-inorganic halide perovskite materials have attracted significant attention during the last few years because of their superior properties for electronic and optoelectronic devices, such as their long charge carrier diffusion lengths and high photoluminescence quantum yields of up to 100% with tunable bandgaps over the entire visible spectral range. In addition to solar cells, light emitting diodes (LEDs) represent a fascinating application for halide perovskite materials. In this study, we review the recent progress in halide perovskite LEDs. The current strategies for improving the performance of halide LEDs, focusing on morphological engineering, dimensional engineering, compositional engineering, surface passivation, interfacial engineering, and the plasmonic effect are discussed. The challenges and perspectives for the future development of halide perovskite LEDs are also considered.

Currently, the flexible organic light emitting devices (OLEDs) are investigated. They are very vulnerable to moisture, and thus have been found to show some problems. Thus, an effective barrier layer is needed to protect from moisture in air. We deposited thin films with magnesium oxide (MgO) and silicon oxide $(SiO_{2})$ compounds mixed at various mixture ratios on flexible polyether sulfone (PES) substrates by an electron-beam evaporator to investigate their applizability for transparent barrier applications. In this study, we found that as the MgO fraction increased, thin films comprised of MgO and $(SiO_{2})$ compounds became more amorphous and their surface morphologies become smoother and denser. In addition, zirconium oxide $(ZrO_{2})$ was added to the above-mentioned compound mixtures. $ZrO_{2}$ made thin mixture films more amorphous and made the surface morphology denser and more uniform. The water vapor transmission rates (WVTRs) of the whole films decreased rapidly. The best WVTR was obtained by depositing thin films of Mg-Si-Zr-O compound among the whole thin films. As the thin mixture films became more amorphous, and the surface morphology become denser and more uniform, the WVTRs decreased. Therefore, the thin mixture films became more suitable for flexible OLED applications as transparent passivation layers against moisture in air.
Chemical vapor condensation (CVC) reactor was investigated for the deposition of Parylene-N thin films as the passivation layer for organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). Several gas inlet manifold designs were tested to improve the deposition rate and its uniformity, and it was found that proper inlet design is crucial to get the desired film properties. Process characterization was also performed with the modified inlets to optimize the process variables.

Recently, advances in ZnO based oxide semiconductor materials have accelerated the development of thin-film transistors (TFTs), which are the building blocks for active matrix flat-panel displays including liquid crystal displays (LCD) and organic light-emitting diodes (OLED). However, the electrical performances of oxide semiconductors are significantly affected by interactions with the ambient atmosphere. Jeong et al. reported that the channel of the IGZO-TFT is very sensitive to water vapor adsorption. Thus, water vapor passivation layers are necessary for long-term current stability in the operation of the oxide-based TFTs. In the present work, $Al_2O_3$ and $TiO_2$ thin films were deposited on poly ether sulfon (PES) and $SnO_x$-based TFTs by electron cyclotron resonance atomic layer deposition (ECR-ALD). And enhancing the WVTR (water vapor transmission rate) characteristics, barrier layer structure was modified to $Al_2O_3/TiO_2$ layered structure. For example, $Al_2O_3$, $TiO_2$ single layer, $Al_2O_3/TiO_2$ double layer and $Al_2O_3/TiO_2/Al_2O_3/TiO_2$ multilayer were studied for enhancement of water vapor barrier properties. After thin film water vapor barrier deposited on PES substrate and $SnO_x$-based TFT, thin film permeation characteristics were three orders of magnitude smaller than that without water vapor barrier layer of PES substrate, stability of $SnO_x$-based TFT devices were significantly improved. Therefore, the results indicate that $Al_2O_3/TiO_2$ water vapor barrier layers are highly proper for use as a passivation layer in $SnO_x$-based TFT devices.

To improvement life-time of the organic light emitting diodes(OLEDs). We investigate the inorganic composite film based on MgO and $SiO_2$ to protect from the moisture and oxygen. The inorganic composite films are added the base materials to the co-operate materials using the mixed process and it is deposited on plastic substrate by e-beam evaporator. In order to analyze as kinds of inorganic materials, Water Vapor method of Transmission Rate (WVTR) and Oxygen Transmission Rate (OTR) are measured by Permatran equipment(MOCON Corp.). For comparison. an MgD- and $SiO_2$-based composite film has lower values of WVTR and OTR than inorganic composite/compound films of ones. The results obtained here shows that this film is suitable for passivation layer to extend the life-time of OLEDs.
Organic-inorganic metal halide perovskite has shown a great promise in photovoltaic applications because of the skyrocketing power-conversion efficiencies up to 25.2% and their potentially low production cost. However, it also has critical issue of substantial material degradation during device operation to be overcome for successful commercialization. Understanding the nature of defects and their photochemistry related to material degradation is needed. Furthermore, strategy to passivate defects in perovskite should be adopted to improve the stability of perovskite. In this article, we present predominant defects formation in perovskite that contribute to material degradations in perovskite solar cells. We then discuss how material stability can be improved through reliable defect passivation engineering.

이러한 단점을 최소화하기 위해서 PECVD(Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition)로 만든 SiON(Silicon Oxynitride), $SiO_2$(Sillicon dioxide), $Si_3N_4$(Sillicon nitride) 박막을 차단막(Passivation layer)으로 사용하였다. PECVD(Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition)로 만든 SiON(Silicon Oxynitride), $SiO_2$(Sillicon dioxide), $Si_3N_4$(Sillicon nitride) 각각의 박막의 Crack의 특성을 85%-$85^{\circ}C$조건에서 24hr 측정하였다.
The coating and estimation of gas and moisture barriers on polymer and glass substrates are receiving very much attention in passivation of organic light emitting devices (OLEDs). In this study, the encapsulation and lifetime measurement techniques of OLEDs were presented. The degradation mechanisms of bare and encapsulated OLEDs were investigated by the visual lifetime measurement (VLM) system with the parameters such as a pixel luminance(L), a luminance rms roughness(dL), a brightness area ratio(R), an edge degradation depth(D), etc.
