  • Organic EL has been expected to adopt to a new styles of technology that make flat display after Tang & Vanslyke made food electric luminescence device in late 1980s. Their studies based on multi layer structure that consists of emitting layer and carrier transporting layer using proper organic material. In this study we made multi layer device using $Eu(TTA)_3(phen)$ as a luminescence material by PVD and investigate luminous properties of each device. But oxidization of organic layer by ITO, energy walls in both pole interface, contaminations of ITO surface, importance of protecting membrane, diffusive dimming of light to cathode organic layer, these causes of degradations are common facts of a macromolecule and micromolecule. We think these degradation caused by the impact of heat and electro-chemical factor, bulk effect and interface phenomenon, and raise a question.

  • In this paper, the inorganic-organic thin film encapsulation layer was newly adopted to protect the organic layer from moisture and oxygen. Using the electron beam, Sputter and Spin-Coater system, the various kinds of inorganic and organic thin-films were deposited onto the Ethylene Terephthalate(PET) and their interface properties between organic and inorganic layer were investigated Results indicates that the SiON/PI/SiON/PI/PET barrier coatings have high potential for flexible organic light-emitting diode(OLED) application.

  • The inorganic multi-layer thin film encapsulation was newly adopted to protect the organic layer from moisture and oxygen. Using the electron beam, sputter, inorganic multi-layer thin-film encapsulation was deposited onto the Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) and their interface properties between inorganic and organic layer were investigated. In this investigation, the SiON, $SiO_2$ and parylene layer showed the most suitable properties. Under these conditions, the WVTR for PET can be reduced from level of $0.57g/m^2/day$ (bare subtrate) to $1*10^{-5}g/m^2/day$ after application of a SiON and $SiO_2$ layer. These results indicates that the $PET/SiO_2/SiON/Parylene$ barrier coatings have high potential for flexible organic light-emitting diode(OLED) applications.

  • This research approached electrical characteristics of organic light emitting diodes getting into the spotlight by next generation display device. Basic mechanism of OLED's emitting is known as that electron by cathode of lower work function and hole by anode of higher work function are driven and recombine exciton-state being flowed in emitting material layer passing carrier transport layer In order to make many electron-hole pairs, we must manufacture device in multi-layer structure. There are Carrier Injection Layer(CIL), Carrier Transport Layer(CTL) and Emitting Material Layer(EML) in multi-layer structure. It is important that regulate thickness of layer for high luminescence efficiency and set mobility of hole and electron.

  • Electroluminescence(EL) devices based on organic thin layers have attracted lot of interests because of their application as display. One of the problems is red material. It offered a short life and poor emission efficiency to boot. In this study, this problem can be solved by using a multi-layer device structure. Organic electroluminescent devices which are composed of organic thin multi-layer films are fabricated. The basic structure is ITO / Emitting layer / LiP / Al EL device in which Hole transport/Electron blocking PVK layer was blending. We demonstrate the enhancement of eletroluminescence (EL) from blends of poly(3-hexylthiophene) in poly(N-vinylcarvazole). The emitting layer is consisted of a host material(PVK) and a guest emitting material(P3HT). It was showed higher EL intensity and their electro-optical properties were investigated.

  • We have fabricated white organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) using several thicknesses of electron-transport layer. The multi-emission layer structure doped with red and blue phosphorescent guest emitters was used for achieving white emission. 2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (BCP) was used as an electron-transport layer. The thickness of BCP layer was varied to be 20, 55, and 120 nm. The current efficiency, emission and recombination characteristics of multi-layer white OLEDs were investigated. The BCP layer thickness variation results in the shift of emission spectrum due to the recombination zone shift. As the BCP layer thickness increases, the recombination zone shifts toward the electron-transport layer/emission-layer interface. The white OLED with a 55 nm thick BCP layer exhibited a maximum current efficiency of 40.9 cd/A.
