  • This study was conducted to provide ecological basic data that use to establish environmental conditions for cultivation of wild vegetables in 2016-2018. Therefore, we investigated the vegetation structure and the correlation between the community structure and the environmental factors for natural habitats of wild vegetables(Aster glehni, Allium ochotense, and Aruncus sylvester) distributed in Ulleungdo. As a result of population and gradient analysis, the vegetation was classified into Aster glehni community, Allium ochotense community, and Aruncus sylvester community. We confirmed that the classification by population analysis was consistent with that by TWINSPAN method, suggesting that they were complemented each other. The importance value of Aster glehni was the highest in all communities, followed by Aruncus sylvester, Allium ochotense, Hydrangea petiolaris, Dryopteris crassirhizoma, Asperula ldorata, Phryma leptostachya var. asiatica, Disporum viridrescens, Hedera rhombea, Anthriscus sylvestris, and Hepatica maxima. According to the results of DCCA ordination analysis, among those communities, the Aster glehni community was distributed in soil where the nutrition including T-N and O.M. were intermediate. The Allium ochotense community was distributed on the a little high northern slope at the highest altitude where the CEC and O.M. were the highest, and other nutrition and pH were low. The Aruncus sylvester was distributed on high slope and altitude on which the amount of exchangeable cation such as $Ca^{{+}{+}}$, $Mg^{{+}{+}}$ and pH were high, and the CEC, $P_2O_5$, and O.M. were the lowest.

  • This study investigated dietary habits and intra- and inter-specific food resource partitioning of co-occurring walleye pollock (Gadus chalcogrammus) and Pacific cod (G. macrocephalus) from the waters off the north-eastern coast of South Korea using stomach contents and stable isotopes (δ13C and δ15N) analyses. Both species are mesopelagic carnivores that consumed mainly benthopelagic crustaceans, but teleosts were also abundant in the diet of Pacific cod. Non-metric multidimensional scaling (nMDS) ordination and permutational multivariate analysis of variance (PERMANOVA) of dietary data revealed significant intra- and inter-specific dietary differences, i.e., food resource partitioning. Nitrogen stable isotope values (δ15N) were similar between walleye pollock and Pacific cod, but carbon stable isotope values (δ13C) were significant different, suggesting different trophic positioning. Canonical analysis of principal coordinate (CAP) ordination plot further demonstrated that differences in the type and range of prey ingested by the two species contributed such an inter-specific difference in the diet compositions. Ontogenetic changes in diet compositions were evident. As walleye pollock, they preyed more upon carid shrimps and cephalopods, but no such trend was observed in the diets of Pacific cod. While stable isotope values indicated that large-sized specimens of both species were significantly enriched in 15N relative to smaller conspecifics thus supporting these data. Consequently, in this study, both methodologies, i.e., stomach contents and stable isotope analyses, provided evidence of inter- and/or intra-specific dietary segregations and trophic niche partitioning between co-occurring walleye pollock and Pacific cod off eastern Korean waters.

  • In this study, water quality data of eight main sites in the Geumho River watershed were collected and analyzed for long-term changes in water quality over the period from 2005 to 2015. The results showed that BOD concentration was gradually improved by the Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL), stages 1 and 2. Recently, a tendency of increasing BOD concentration was observed in the downstream section of the river. The concentration of COD was analyzed to be contaminated throughout the water system regardless of the water quality improvement project, and the TN concentration tended to increase in the midstream of the river from 2013. The TP concentration has clearly decreased from 2012 after the second stage of TMDL. For the statistical analysis of PCA ordination, monthly water qualities (pH, DO, Electrical Conductivity (EC), Water Temperature (WT), BOD, COD, TN, TP, TOC, and SS) and flow rate data for 5 years from 2012 to 2016 were used. Seasonally the Geumho River showed an increase in the TN concentration at point sources during the dry season (December to February). TP showed the effect of non-point sources in the summer, because rainfall has caused a rise in flow rate in the upstream. Besides, the origin of pollution source was changed from non-point sources with BOD, COD, and TOC.

  • This paper aim, to measure and evaluates the technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency with two inputs and four outputs with the use of DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) in Korean RCC(Rescue Co-ordination Center)/RSC(Rescue Sub-Center). Several conclusion emerge. first the average efficiency of overall technical efficiency measure about $91.03{\%}$ and pure technical efficiency $96.80{\%}$ is much large then scale efficiency $93.83{\%}$. It means that inefficiency has much more to do whit the inefficient utilization of resources rather then the scale of production. second, DRS(decreasing return to scale)is Tongyeong and IRS(increasing return to scale) is Incheon, Taean, Gunsan, Yeosu, Ulsan, Donghae in RCC/RSC finally, inefficiency RCC/RSC have to benchmarking with reference sets.

  • The purpose of the study is to analyse and classify the characteristics of Gongsanseong forest through phytosociological and quadrat method with 20 plot samples. In result, the forest was classified as Quercus acutissima community. The subcommunity was composed of Quercus aliena and Zelkova serrata. The average vegetation coverage of Quercus aliena subcommunity was upper tree layer (83%), lower tree layer (48%), shrub layer (39%), and herb layer (30%), while the average vegetation coverage of Zelkova serrata subcommunity was upper tree layer (76%), lower tree layer (52%), shrub layer (40%), and herb layer (45%). The order of importance value of the forest community with DBH 2cm above plants was Quercus acutissima (72.62), Quercus aliena (40.52), Prunus sargentii (19.81), Styrax japonica (19.39), Zelkova serrata (15.78), Robonia pseudoacacia (14.76), Quercus variabilis (13.83), Sorbus alnifolia (13.71), Platycarya strobilacea (10.74), Pinus densiflora (10.08), and Quercus serrata (9.31). According to breast diameter analysis results, it is expected that the importance value of Prunus sargentii and Zelkova serrata will be continuously increased while Quercus sp. is dominating the forest. With the result of ordination analysis, the relationship between the forest community and environmental factors could be affected by soil nutrition, moisture, and elevation etc.

  • The Taeanhaean National Park is the only seashore national park in Korea. To investigate the vegetation structure and characteristics of representative four islands such as Oedo, Janggodo, Godaedo and Gauido in Taeanhaean National Park, sixteen plots(size is $100mm^2$) were set up, and four plots were set up in each island. In the result of vegetation structure analysis of each island, Oedo and Janggodo was dominated by Pinus thunbergii community, and Godaedo was dominated by P. thunbergii-P. densiflora community and Gauido was dominated by Carpinus turczaninovii-P. densiflora community. But according to the physical environment of each island, there was a subtle difference in species composition even though the same P. thunbergii or P. densiflora community. The analysis of ordination and similarity turned out that the degree of similarity was lowest(6.58%) between Oedo and Gauido. The analysis result of species diversity and number of individuals shows that Gauido had high species diversity (2.7183) than the other islands.

  • The forest vegetation on Mt. Ch’ongnyang was investigated for phytosociological analysis of the vegetation types and interspecific association. The forest was classified into seven vegetation units; A: Quercus Mongolica community, A-1: Group of Quercus variabilis, A-1-a: Subgroup of Pinus densiflora, A-1-b: Typical subgroup, A-2: Group of Aconitum trilobum, A-3: Group of Quercus dentata, B: Zelkova serrata communty. The group of Quercus variabilis was distributed on southeast- and southwest-facing slopes in 400~830 m above the sea level, and organic matter in the soil was 3.36~4.67%. The group of Aconitum trilobum was distributed on northeast- and northwest-facing slopes in 650~830 m above the sea level, and organic matter in the soil was 7.18%. The group of Quercus dentata was distributed on southwest-facing solpes in the vicinity of 810 m above the sea level, and organic matter in the soil was 9.7%. The Zelkova serrata community was distributed in the vicinity of ravines, and organic matter in the soil was 7.6%. The contents of Mg and Ca, and electric conductivity in the Zelkova serrata community were relatively high, 11.82 me/100mg, and 11.27 me/100mg, 102.2 μ mos/cm, respectively. In the results of polar ordination, environmental gradient of axis Ⅰ and axis Ⅱwere correlated with moisture, inclination and azimuth, respectively. Group of Quercus variabilis has occurred in xeric, group of Aconitum trilobum in submesic, and the Zelrova serrata community in mesic sites. In the meantime the interspecific association analysis based on chi-square yielded three species groupings with high positive affinity(p<0.01), i.e.group Ⅰ consisted of 18 species, including Acer pseudo-sieboldianum, Ansliaea acerifolia, Aconitum trilobum and group Ⅲ consisted of 19 species, in cluding Zelrova serrata, Oplismenus undulatifolius, Acer truncatum var. barbinerve, respectively.
