  • In order to care about preserving the environment for future generations, each country has been required to make the laws of the environment. So manufacturers must design, manufacture and sell goods that meet customer's need and must do this while meeting the needs of the environment. In this research we have developed product structure and configuration management system that treats electronic catalogs for recycling of train parts. This research focused on two system. One is JAVA-based electronic catalog that give the information about recycling of train parts. The other is product structure and configuration management system based on electronic catalog and Bill of Materials(B.O.M).

  • From the viewpoint of ICT-based disaster prevention design, evacuation route planning is one of the hot topics to be solved. Since we have quite a lot of natural disasters these days, its role has become important more and more than before. In order to deal with this tough problem, a genetic algorithm (GA) is adopted, and a revised selection procedure for preserving variety of individuals in each generation is introduced. As a result of some computer simulations applied to Hizen-Hamashuku, one of the model areas in this research project, it is found that the proposed method is effective.

평균-잔류신호 영상압축에 적용된 유한 상태 투영벡터양자화 (Finite-state projection vector quantization applied to mean-residual compression of images)

  • This paper proposes an image compression algorithm that adopts projection scheme on mean-residual metod. Sub-blocks of an image are encoded using mean-residual method where mean value is predicted according to that of neighboring blocks. Projection scheme with 8 directions is applied to the compression of residual signals of blocks. Projection vectors are finite-state vector quantized according to the projection angle of nighboring blocks in order to exploit the correlation among them. Side information to represent the repetition of projection is run-length coded while the information for projection direction is compressed using entropy encoding. The proposed scheme apears to be better in PSNR performance when compared with conventional projection scheme as well as in subjective quality preserving the edges of images better than most tranform methods which usually require heavy computation load.

  • The edge detection process serves to simplify the analysis of images by drastically reducing the amount of data to be processed, while preserving useful structural informations about object boundaries. At first, this paper proposes an edge detection algorithm to reduce the amount of computation. The gradients of pixels are calculated by using first order differential equations on the pixels with even rows and even columns or odd rows and odd columns, and they are compared with a threshold to decide edges. As a result, the computational complexity is reduced to one third or one forth compared with the provious ones. To enhance the accuracy of edge detection, a method with the adaptive threshold for each pixel window which is calculated by using characteristic values is proposed. In this case, the performance can be improved since the threshold is calculated properly for each window according to the local characteristics of corresponding window.

  • In order to succeed in e-Trade Project in Korea, the related parties endeavor to introduce the e-title registry model such as Bolero model(Title Registry Model) and TEDI model (Repository Service Provider Model). Prior to mentioning the Model of e-Title Registry, desirable Global e-Trade Platform is the platform connecting Global e-Trade Platforms in each country and Bolero's Core Messaging Platform and e-Title Registry must be established in each country. Each e-Title Registry must be connected with another registry. Like Korea, Recognized Electronic Document Repository must be established as proxy for preserving, attesting, carrying out sending and receiving electronic document to prevent from disputes between parties and to carry out notarizing electronic documents and related transaction. The purpose of this paper is to promote the introduction of e-Title Registry in the e-Trade and to streamline the procedures of the electronic bill of lading.

A Probabilistic Dissimilarity Matching for the DFT-Domain Image Hashing

  • An image hash, a discriminative and robust summary of an image, should be robust against quality-preserving signal processing steps, while being pairwise independent for perceptually different inputs. In order to improve the hash matching performance, this paper proposes a probabilistic dissimilarity matching. Instead of extracting the binary hash from the query image, we compute the probability that the intermediate hash vector of the query image belongs to each quantization bin, which is referred to as soft quantization binning. The probability is used as a weight in comparing the binary hash of the query with that stored in a database. A performance evaluation over sets of image distortions shows that the proposed probabilistic matching method effectively improves the hash matching performance as compared with the conventional Hamming distance.

  • Recently according to the WIPO's policy of preserving traditional knowledge, constructing the database of traditional knowledge is in progress. To maximize the retrieving power of the knowledge resource systems which will be developed later, it is necessary to construct the ontology for the concepts used by traditional knowledge. In order to construct the ontology systematically, a standardized ontology representation method is needed, and OWL(Web Ontology Language) is the recommendation of W3C(World Wide Web Consortium) and is widely used. Ontology tools can be used to ease the construction of OWL ontology, but no research about the comparison of OWL ontology tools exists. This paper compares the tools of OWL by an objective point of view and with that one can make a decision of using the appropriate tool for constructing OWL ontologies.

  • In this paper, an attempt is made to match the continuous state trajectory of the digital control system with that of its continuous data model. Matching the state trajectories instead of the output responses assures that the performances of the internal variables of the plant as well as the output variables are preserved in the discretization. The mathematical tool used in this research is an extended maximum principle of the Pontryagin type, which enables one to synthesize a staircase type of optimal control signals, such as the output signal of a zero-order hold asociated with a digital controller. A general mathematical expression of the digital controller which may be used to replace the analog controller of a general system while preserving as mauch as possible the performance characteristics of the original continuous-data control system is derived in this paper.

  • The removal of impulsive noise terms which occur in interventricular pressure (IVP) signals of a Korean-type total artificial heart is essential for estimation of atrial pressure change. We compared various order statistic filters and conclude that median filter with sidelength L = 1 is the most appropriate filter for IVP signals in the perspectives of operation cost, detail preserving (peak value), and waveform.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the actual condition and utilization planning of rice mills in Korea. Especially there are 64 rice mills at Goesangun, Chungbuk. I had selected six among them and examined. They are comparatively good, worth preserving, and considered to be the historical and local values. The results of study are as follows; First, rice mills of agricultural villages are utilized as the place of learning that people can experience or the agricultural village museum. Second, it can be connected to the sightseeing resources. Therefore, they are utilized as a green tourism. Third, in order to activate small rice mills, it need a governmental support policy. Fourth, it is necessary of the multilateral plan that can be used as a place of village community.
