The Pt-Ni alloy is an electro-catalyst of interest in the low temperature direct methanol fuel cells(DMFCs). It has been already reported that the Pt-Ni alloy catalysts may even have enhanced activity compared to pure platinum catalyst, depending on how the surfaces are prepared. The order-disorder transition in bimetallic alloy such as $\beta$-CuZn, Cu3Au, and CuAu have been investigated greatly by x-ray diffraction. After annealing the bimetallic alloy, the crystal structure changes as observed in the order-disorder transition of Cu3Au which changes from the face centered cubic to a simple cubic structure. Pt-Ni bimetallic alloy has been already reported to have the face centered cubic structure. However, in nano-scale Pt-Ni bimetallic alloy crystals the crystal structures changes to a simple cubic structure. In this experiment, we have studied the order-disorder transition in Pt-Ni bimetallic nanocrystals. Pt/Ni thin films were deposited on sapphire(0001) substrates by e-beam evaporator and then Pt-Ni alloy were formed by RTA at 500, 600, and $700^{\circ}C$ in a vacuum environment and Pt-Ni nano particles were formed by RTA at $1059^{\circ}C$ in a vacuum environment. We measured the structure of Pt-Ni bimetallic alloy films using synchrotron x-ray diffraction and SEM.
A study of the structural strength evaluation on the doubler plate, considering various load cases that were subjected to in-plane and out of plane combined load, has been performed through the systematic evaluation process. In order to estimate the proper static strength of doubler plate for various load cases, elasto-plastic large deflection analysis is introduced, including the contact effect between main plate and doubler. The characteristics of stiffness and strength variation are discussed, based on the results. In order to compare the doubler structure with the original strength of main plate, without doubler, simple formulas for the evaluation of the equivalent flat plate thickness are derived for each load case, respectively, based on the additional series of analysis of flat plate structure. Using these derived equations, the thickness change of an equivalent flat plate is analyzed according to the variation of various design parameters of doubler platesome design guides are suggested in order to maintain the original strength of main plate without doubler reinforcement. Finally, correlation between derived equivalent flat plate formula and the developed buckling strength formulas are discovered, and these relations are formulated for the future development of simple strength evaluation formula of general doubler plate structure.
Two key data areas of the integrated production database in computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM) systems are the product structure in the forms of bills of material(BOM) and the process structure in the forms of routings. The great majority of existing information systems regard the BOM and routing as two separate data entities, possibly with some degree of cross-referencing. This paper proposes new information structure called the bills of material and routings(BMR) that logically integrates the BOM and routings for the CIM systems in ship production. The characteristics of ship production are described as: 1) make-to-order production type, 2) combined manufacturing principles (workshop production and construction site production), 3) significant overlapping of design, planning and manufacturing, 4) very long order throughput time, 5) complex product structure and production process. The proposed BMR systematically manages ail parts and operations data needed ship production considering characteristics of ship production. Also, the BMR situated on the integrated production database more efficiently supports interface between engineering and production functions, and integrates a wide variety of functions within production such as production planning, process planning, operation scheduling, material planning, costing etc., and simplifies information flow between sub-systems in CIM systems.
This article deals with the dynamic analysis in pad concrete foundation containing Silica nanoparticles (SiO2) subject to seismic load. In order to control the foundation smartly, a piezoelectric layer covered the foundation. The weight of the building by a column on the foundation is assumed with an external force in the middle of the structure. The foundation is located in soil medium which is modeled by spring elements. The Mori-Tanaka law is utilized for calculating the equivalent mechanical characteristics of the concrete foundation. The Kevin-Voigt model is adopted to take into account the structural damping. The concrete structure is modeled by a thick plate and the governing equations are deduced using Hamilton's principle under the assumption of higher-order shear deformation theory (HSDT). The differential quadrature method (DQM) and the Newmark method are applied to obtain the seismic response. The effects of the applied voltage to the smart layer, agglomeration and volume percent of SiO2 nanoparticles, damping of the structure, geometrical parameters and soil medium of the structure are assessed on the dynamic response. It has been demonstrated by the numerical results that by applying a negative voltage, the dynamic deflection is reduced significantly. Moreover, silica nanoparticles reduce the dynamic deflection of the concrete foundation.
Since Jiuzhang Suanshu, the main tools in the theory of right triangles, known as Gougushu in East Asia were algebraic identities about three sides of a right triangle derived from the Pythagorean theorem. Using tianyuanshu up to siyuanshu, Song-Yuan mathematicians could skip over those identities in the theory. Chinese Mathematics in the 17-18th centuries were mainly concerned with the identities along with the western geometrical proofs. Jeong Yag-yong (1762-1836), a well known Joseon scholar and writer of the school of Silhak, noticed that those identities can be derived through algebra and then wrote Gugo Wonlyu (勾股源流) in the early 19th century. We show that Jeong reveals the algebraic structure of polynomials with the three indeterminates in the book along with their order structure. Although the title refers to right triangles, it is the first pure algebra book in Joseon mathematics, if not in East Asia.

A numerical technique for fluid-structure interaction, which is based on the finite element method (FEM) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), was developed for application to an industrial chimney equipped with a pendulum tuned mass damper (TMD). In order to solve the structural problem, a one-dimensional beam model (Navier-Bernoulli) was considered and, for the dynamical problem, the standard second-order Newmark method was used. Navier-Stokes equations for incompressible flow are solved in several horizontal planes to determine the pressure in the boundary of the corresponding cross-section of the chimney. Forces per unit length were obtained by integrating the pressure and are introduced in the structure using standard FEM interpolation techniques. For the fluid problem, a fractional step scheme based on a second order pressure splitting has been used. In each fluid plane, the displacements have been taken into account considering an Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian approach. The stabilization of convection and diffusion terms is achieved by means of quasi-static orthogonal subscales. For each period of time, the fluid problem was solved and the geometry of the mesh of each fluid plane is updated according to the structure displacements. Using this technique, along-wind and across-wind effects have been properly explained. The method was applied to an industrial chimney in three scenarios (with or without TMD and for different damping values) and for two wind speeds, showing different responses.
Based on the findings of a study focused on medical institutions(Fama & French, 2002), this study determined possible causality between determinants of capital structure and liability level, while estimating targeted debt ratio. Moreover, it also examined hypotheses about the adjustment of targeted debt ratio and the of fundraising patterns, so that it verified the relative priority of trade-off theory and pecking order theory. First, profitability had positive(+) relationships with liability level, while investment opportunities had negative(-) relationships with liability level. This finding supported pecking order theory, and non-liability tax shield effects had negative(-) relationships with liability level as estimated in both trade-off theory and pecking order theory. Next, this study verified trade-off and pecking order theory at once by means of regression analysis about the variation of liability level in associations with disparity from targeted debt ratio and short-term fluctuation of profit and investment. As a result, it was noted that liability level became mean-reversed to targeted liability ratio but slowly, SO it was difficult to assert that such mean reverse may support trade-off theory. However, the finding that most of short-term fluctuations of profit and investment are absorbed into liabilities supported pecking order theory. On the other hand, it was found that the larger scale of medical institutions is more supportive of pecking order theory in the associations between liability level and profitability and the fundraising patterns than trade-off theory.

DLLs(Delay Locked Loops) have widely been used in many systems in order to achieve the clock synchronization. A SMD (Synchronous Mirror Delay) structure is used both for skew reduction and for DCC (Duty Cycle Correction). In this paper, a SMD based DLL with DCC using Reduced Delay Lines is proposed in order to reduce the clock skew and correct the duty cycle. The merged structure allows the forward delay array to be shared between the DLL and the DCC, and yields a 25% saving in the number of the required delay cells. The designed chip was fabricated using a $0.25{\mu}m$ 1-poly, 4-metal CMOS process. Measurement results showed the 3% duty cycle error when the input signal ranges from 80% to 20% and the clock frequency ranges from 400MHz to 600MHz. The locking operation needs 3 clock and duty correction requires only 5 clock cycles as feature with SMD structure.

This paper presents a progressive algorithm for reconstructing a 3D structure from a given 2D sketch drawing (edge-vertex graph without hidden line removal) according to the user's sketch order. While previous methods reconstruct a 3D structure at once, the proposed method progressively calculate a 3D structure by optimizing the coordinates of vertices of an object according to the sketch order. The progressive method reconstructs the most plausible 3D object quickly by applying 3D constraints that are derived from the relationship between the object and the sketch drawing in the optimization process. The progressive reconstruction algorithm is discussed, and examples from a working implementation are given.

Micro-molded parts can be defined as parts with microgram weight, parts with micro-structured surface, and parts with micro-precision. In this study, various micro-scale molded parts for various polymers were produced by using a precision micro-molding machine. Molded parts with nano-structure surface were also produced to analyze the effect of molding conditions on replication of surface pattern and higher-order structure development of molded parts. Replication of molded parts was influenced by material properties, molding conditions and size of surface pattern. Higher-order structure of molded parts was investigated by using polarized microscope. Skin-shear-core regions inside the molded parts were observed and shear region affected to surface replication.
