In order to construct a benzofuran library, we developed a model study of benzbromarone. Synthesis has been achieved in 53% overall yield, starting from phenol via the key intermediate 2-ethylbenzofuran which was afforded by intramolecular Wittig reaction.
2,4-Dichlorophenol was known pollutants caused by the endocrine disruptor into the refractory substances of environment and this is difficult to be degradable by conventional methods. Therefore, a considerable interest has been devoted to developing new process where 2,4-Dichlorophenol can easily decomposed. In this study, the series of ultrasonic irradiation for removal of 2,4-Dichlorophenol has been selected as a model reaction in the batch reactor system in order to obtain the basic data investigate the influence of various experimental parameters such as concentration, pH, reaction temperature, acoustic intensity. The products obtained form the ultrasonic irradiation were analysed by GC/MS and HPLC. The formation of $H_2O_2$, a well-known the strong oxidant was found proportionally to increase with irradiation time. The intermediates of ultrasonic irradiation of 2,4-Dichlorophenol were identified as HCl, catechol, hydroquinone, o,p-benzoquinone, muconic acid, and maleic acid. The final products of this was $CO_2$ and $H_2O$. As the decomposition of 2,4-Dichlorophenol proceeds by the ultrasonic irradiation, the pH of 2,4-Dichlorophenol containing aqueous solution increases slowly, The decomposition of 2,4-Dichlorophenol was found to be occured fast in the basic medium. In general, the rate of reaction is proportional to the reaction temperature obeying the Arrhenius' law. However, in the ultrasonic irradiation, this suggests as the reaction temperature increase the decomposition rate of the reactant decreases. This result meant that the increase of reaction temperature due to the increase of vapor pressure of water accelerated the decrease of acoustic intensity which was can be proportional to the decomposition rae of these compounds. It was found that more than 80% of phenol solution was removed within hours in all reaction conditions. The reaction order in the degradation of the 2,4-Dichlorophenol compounds was verified as the Pseude-first order. From the fore-mentioned results, it can be concluded that the refractory organic compounds caused by endocrine disruptor as 2,4-dichlorophenol could be removed by the ultrasonic irradiation with radicals, such as $H{\;}{\cdot}{\;}and{\;}OH{\;}{\cdot}$ radical causing the high increase of pressure and temperature. Finally, it apeared that the technology using ultrasonic irradiation can be applied to the treatment of refractory substances caused by endocrine disruptor which are difficult to be decomposed by the conventional methods.
We carried out aminolyses of various rigid polyurethane foams (PUFs) using diethylene triamine and studied application of the aminolysis products as hardners of epoxy resins. Diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A was used for the study on the curing behavior of epoxy resin with the aminolysis product employing differential scanning calorimeter. Curing reaction of the epoxy resin is generally known to be autocatalytic second order reaction. We found that the curing reaction of the epoxy resin with the aminolysis product of rigid PUF did not show autocatalytic characteristics but followed the n-th order kinetics. The activation energy of the curing reaction of the epoxy resin with the aminolysis product of rigid PUF made from sugar based polyol was slightly lower than that of the epoxy resin with aminolysis product of rigid with made from amine based polyol.
The behavior of the soil subgrade is complex and irregular against loads. When modeling, the soil is often replaced by a more straightforward system called a subgrade model. The Winkler method of linear elastic springs is a popular method of soil modeling in which the spring constant shows the modulus of subgrade reaction. In this research, the factors affecting the distribution of the modulus of subgrade reaction of elastoplastic subgrades are examined. For this purpose, critical theories about the modulus of subgrade reaction were examined. A square raft foundation on a sandy soil subgrade with was analyzed at different internal friction angles and Young's modulus values using ABAQUS software. To accurately model the actual soil behavior, the elastic, perfectly plastic constitutive model was applied to investigate a foundation on discrete springs. In order to increase the accuracy of soil modeling, equations have been proposed for the distribution of the subgrade reaction modulus. The constitutive model of the springs is elastic, perfectly plastic. It was observed that the modulus of subgrade reaction under an elastic load decreased when moving from the corner to the center of the foundation. For the ultimate load, the modulus of subgrade reaction increased as it moved from the corner to the center of the foundation.

The synthetic method of pyrazole was performed by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition with dipolarophile instead of the reaction between diazomethane and acetylene. The cycloaddition mechanism and reactivity of 3-phenyloxadiazole derivatives with dipolarophiles was investigated. In order to investigate the mechanism and reactivity of this cycloaddition, the effect of substituents having various kinds of electron withdrawing or releasing groups were examinated. Considering the effect of substituents, an electron withdrawing group attached at the 4-carbon position in 3-phenyloxadiazole derivatives decrease the reaction rate because of the lack of electron density in oxadiazole ring. The reaction rate of 3-phenyloxadiazole derivatives with dipolarophiles were more conveniently measured using UV than using a volumetric analysis which was used before. From the result of this study, it was that the cycloaddition was found to be a first-order reaction depending upon the concentration of 3-phenyloxadiazole only.
The hydrogen atom transfer reaction between substituted methane, $CH_3X,$ and its radical, $CH_2X(X=H,F,CH_3,CN,OH\;and\;NH_2$ was studied by MINDO/3 method. The transition state(TS) structure and energy barriers were determined and variation of the transition state and of the reactivity due to the change of X were analyzed based on the potential energy surface characteristics. It was found that the greater the radical stabilization energy. the looser the TS becomes; the TS occurs at about 15% stretch of the C-H bond, which becomes longer as the radical stabilization energy of $CH_2X$ increasers. The intrinsic barrier, ${\Delta}E*_{x.x},$ of the reaction with X was found to increase in the order $H The degree of bond stretch of the C-H bond stretch of the C-H bond at the TS also had the same order indicating that the homolytic bond cleavage of the C-H bond is rate-determining. Orbital interactions at the TS between LUMO of the fragment $C{\ldots}H{\ldots}C$ and the symmetry adapted pair of nonbonding, $n{\pm}(=n_1{\pm}n_2),$ or pi orbitals of the two X atoms were shown to be the dominant contribution in determining tightness or looseness of the TS. The Marcus equation was shown to apply to the MINDO/3 barriers and energy changes of the reaction.
Butacaine sulfate is an ester of p-aminobenzoic acid which has been widely used as a local anaesthetic and it is a long standing agent particularly for spinal anaesthesia. For this reason, a kinetic study of oxidation of butacaine sulfate by sodium N-chlorobenzenesulfonamide (chloramine-B or CAB) has been carried out in $HClO_4$ medium at 303 K in order to explore this redox system mechanistic chemistry. The rate shows a first-order dependence on both $[CAB]_o$, and $[substrate]_o$, and a fractional-order dependence on acid concentration. Decrease of dielectric constant of the medium, by adding methanol, increases the rate of the reaction. Variation of ionic strength and addition of benzenesulfonamide or NaCl have no significant effect on the rate. The reaction was studied at different temperatures and the activation parameters have been evaluated. The stoichiometry of the reaction has been found to be 1:2 and the oxidation products have been identified by spectral analysis. The observed results have been explained by plausible mechanism and the related rate law has been deduced.

This research examines the feasibility of using laboratory-synthesized nano scale zero-valent iron particles to remove arsenic from aqueous phase. Batch experiments were performed to determine arsenic sorption rates as a function of the nano scale zero-valent iron solution concentration. Rapid adsorption of arsenic was achieved with the nano scale zero-valent iron. Typically 1 mg $L^{-1}$ arsenic (III) was adsorbed by 5 g $L^{-1}$ nano scale zero-valent iron below the 0.01 g $L^{-1}$ concentration within 7min. The kinetics of the arsenic sorption followed pseudo-first-order reaction kinetics. Observed reaction rate constants ( $K_{obs}$) varied between 11.4 to 129.0 $h^{-1}$ with respect to different concentrations of nano scale zero-valent iron. A variety of analytical techniques were used to study the reaction products including HGAAS (hydride generator atomic adsorption spectrophotometer), SEM (scanning electron microscopy) and TEM (transmission electron microscopy). Our experimental results suggest novel method for efficient removal of arsenic Iron groundwater.r.

In this study, the analytical performance of trimethylamine (TMA) were investigated with respect to headspace-solid phase microextraction (HS-SPME) method. In order to induce the elution of aqueous TMA to headspace, NaOH was added as a decomposition reagent to aqueous TMA standard. By controlling the combination of three major variables for TMA extraction, the extent of extraction was compared between the two contrasting conditions for each variable (i.e., reaction time (long (L) vs short (S)), exposure temperature (30 vs $50^{\circ}C$), and exposure time (10 vs 30 min)). The results of this comparative analysis showed that the extraction efficiency for all eight types of HS-SPME combinations decreased on the order: L-30-30>L-50-10>L-30-10>L-50-30>S-30-30>S-50-30>S-50-10>S-30-10. The effect of reaction time appeared to exert significant influences on the relative recovery rate of HS-SPME at 90% confidence level. However, the effects of exposure temperature or exposure time were not so significant as reaction time. When the recovery rate of HS-SPME is compared against the direct injection of liquid standard into GC injector, it recorded as 2%. According to this comparative study, the reaction conditions for HS-SPME application can exert significant influences on the analysis of TMA.
Laser-induced Raman spectroscopy has been utilized to demonstrate its feasibility for studying the kinetics of imine formation in chloroform solvent. The imine formation, by the nucleophilic addition of primary amine to the carbonyl group of ketone, has been monitored at ten minute intervals for eight hours. The intensity of the C=O stretching mode at 1684 $cm^{-1}$ was measured to determine the rate constant of the reaction. In order to correct the sample-to-sample fluctuations in Raman peak area, this peak was normalized to the C-Cl bending peak at 666 $cm^{-1}$. By the peak area change during the course of reaction, the second order rates at three different temperatures have been determined. The substituent effects on the π conjugations of imine product have also been investigated. On the basis of Raman frequency shifts, the delocalization properties of the aromatic system modified by substitution of a hydrogen atom with -Cl and $-CH_3O$ groups could be clearly understood.
