The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relationship of menstrual cycle and halitosis by measuring the concentrations of Voltile Sulfur Compounds, secretion rate of unstimulated saliva, secretion rate of stimulated saliva and viscosity of saliva during the menstrual cycle. The subjects were 19 female dental students of Yonsei University who had relatively good alignment of the teeth. They hadn't taken antibiotics or oral contraceptive pills during the few months prior to the experiment, and they didn't have any dental caries involving the pulp or periodontal disease. Lady-$Q^{(R)}$(Alpain Korea, Korea), which confirms the ovulation using saliva, was used to find out the menstrual cycle of subjects. Their history was taken and their basal body temperature was measured. On the basis of these data, the amount of Volatile Sulfur Compounds, secretion rate of unstimulated saliva, secretion rate of stimulated saliva, viscosity of saliva were measured during 1 day of the proliferative phase, 3 days of ovulatory phase and 1 day of the luteal phase within the menstrual cycle. The results were as follows : 1. The amount of Volatile Sulfur Compounds, secretion rate of unstimulated saliva, secretion rate of stimulated saliva, and viscosity of saliva showed no statistically significant cyclic change during proliferative phase, ovulatory phase, and luteal phase(p<0.05). 2. Between the secretion rate of unstimulated saliva and secretion rate of stimulated saliva, there was significant correlation during proliferative phase and luteal phase(p<0.05) and there was no significant correlation during ovulatory phase but relatively close result was seen. 3. The amount of Volatile Sulfur Compounds during proliferative phase and luteal phase had statistically significant correlation(p<0.05). 4. Secretion rate of stimulated saliva during proliferative phase and ovulatory phase, proliferative phase and luteal phase, ovulatory phase and luteal phase had significant correlations (p<0.01).
The objectives of this study was to investigate the amount of tooth ablation and the change of intrapulpal temperature by Er:YAG laser as it relates to pulse energy and pulse repetition rate at the identical power and, thereby, to reveal which of the two parameters strongly relates with ablation efficiency and intrapulpal temperature. Extracted healthy human molar teeth were sectioned into two pieces and each specimen was irradiated within the combination of pulse energy and pulse repetition time at the same power of 3W; $300mJy{\times}10Hz$ group, $200mJy{\times}15Hz$ group, and $150mJy{\times}20Hz$ group. Each specimen comprised ten tooth specimens. A laser beam with conjunction of a water flow rate of 1.6 ml/min was applied over enamel surfaces of the specimens during 3 seconds and the ablation amount was determined by difference in weight before and after irradiation. To investigate the temperature change in the pulp according to the above groups, another five extracted healthy human molar teeth were prepared. Each tooth was embedded into resin block and the temperature-measuring probes were kept on the irradiated and the opposite walls in the dental pulp during lasing. When the power was kept constant at 3W, ablation amount increased with pulse energy rather than pulse repetition rate (p=0.000). Although intrapulpal temperature increased with pulse repetition rate, there were no significant differences among the groups and between the irradiated and the opposite pulpal walls, except at a condition of $150y{\times}20Hz$ (p=0.033). Conclusively, it is suggested that ablation efficacy is influenced by pulse energy rather than pulse repetition rate.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the antibacterial effects of indocyanine green (ICG) and near-infrared diode lasers on multispecies biofilms. Multispecies biofilms of Streptococcus mutans, Lactobacillus casei and Candida albicans were treated with different irradiation time using photosensitizer ICG and 808 nm near-infrared diode laser. Colony forming unit (CFU) was measured, and qualitative evaluation of biofilm was performed with confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM). Temperature measurement was conducted to evaluate photothermal effect. In the groups using ICG and diode laser, reduction in CFU was statistically significant, but the difference in antibacterial effect on L. casei and C. albicans with irradiation time was not significant, and similar results were confirmed with CLSM. Groups with ICG and diode laser showed higher temperature elevation than groups without ICG, and results of measured temperature were similar to the range of hyperthermia. In conclusion, ICG and near-infrared diode laser showed antibacterial effects on multispecies biofilms, but studies on protocol are necessary for clinical application.
This study examined the effects of plated temperature on the surface morphology and property of an electrodeposited copper foil. The morphology, crystal structure and electric characteristics of the electrodeposited copper foil were examined by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and a four-point probe, respectively. The surface roughness, crystal growth orientation and resistivity could be controlled using various temperature of electrolyte. Large particles were observed on the surface of the copper layer electroplated onto the $30^{\circ}C$. However, a uniform surface, lower resistivity and high flexibility were obtained when a $50^{\circ}C$ electrolyte was used.

This study was carried on to investigate the effect of physiological significance of hand and foot on thermoregulation and thermal pleasantness in clothed $\mu$ Oral and skin temperatures after immersing hands and feet in the cold or the warm water at Ta of 25 and $20^{\circ}C$, respectively, were compared with four types of garment worn by two healthy male subjects. Four types of gannent expressed as A, B, C, D, were determined by the exposed areas of extremities : hands only are exposed in A, feet only are exposed in B, both hands and forearms are exposed in C, and both feet and legs are exposed in D. Major findings observed reveals that oral temperatures in D were generally maintained higher than those in A, B, and C. This is probably because the size of exposed areas rather than skin temperatures seem to determine the level of core temperature. Also, obtained result that thermal sensations felt by the subjects in foot are more closely related to local skin temperatures when they are compared to those in hand. From these findings it would be suggested that the significance of hand and foot in temperature regulation appears to be connected more with behavioral than with physiological.

Objectives: In this study we evaluated heat generation during the low-speed drilling procedure without irrigation. Materials and Methods: Ten artificial bone blocks that were similar to human D1 bone were used in this study. The baseline temperature was $37.0^{\circ}C$. We drilled into 5 artificial bone blocks 60 times at the speed of 50 rpm without irrigation. As a control group, we drilled into an additional 5 artificial bone blocks 60 times at the speed of 1,500 rpm with irrigation. The temperature changes during diameter 2 mm drilling were measured using thermocouples. Results: The mean maximum temperatures during drilling were $40.9^{\circ}C$ in the test group and $39.7^{\circ}C$ in the control group. Even though a statistically significant difference existed between the two groups, the low-speed drilling did not produce overheating. Conclusion: These findings suggest that low-speed drilling without irrigation may not lead to overheating during drilling.
The stability of cefditoren in three kinds of oral liquid preparations at 4 and $25^{\circ}C$ was studied for 90 days. Two tablets of 100 mg cefditoren pivoxil were mixed with 200 mL of each oral liquid syrup, which is Pebron syrup (oxolamine citrate 10 mg/mL), $Mucopect^{(R)}$ syrup (ambroxol hydrochloride 3 mg/mL) or $Tyrenol^{(R)}$ suspension (acetaminophen encapsulated 32 mg/mL). Three samples of each formulation were refrigerated $(4^{\circ}C)$ and three were stored at room temperature $(25^{\circ}C)$. At predetermined time, samples were assayed by stability-indicating HPLC method. The chromatographic analysis after deliberate degradation showed no evidence of any breakdown product likely to interfere with the chromatographic peak of the parent substance. The relation between cefditoren pivoxil concentration and peak area was linear from 10 to $150{\mu}g/mL\;(r^2=0.9998)$. The analysis method was precise, with coefficients of variation no greater than 3.6%. Cefditoren was stable in $Mucopect^{(R)}$ syrup up to 4 weeks regardless of the temperature; in $Tyrenol^{(R)}$ suspension and Pebron syrup, it was stable for at least 28 and 45 days, and 7 and 45 days at 25 and $4^{\circ}C$, respectively. The percentages of initial cefditoren concentration remaining after 90 days were $51.5{\pm}1.8\;and\;80.9{\pm}5.6%,\;61.7{\pm}7.8\;and\;70.2{\pm}7.3%,\;and\;39.9{\pm}3.2\;and\;81.4{\pm}5.5%$ in $Mucopect^{(R)}$ syrup, $Tyrenol^{(R)}$ suspension and $Pebron^{(R)}$ syrup at 25 and $4^{\circ}C$, respectively. The pH variations of all test solutions were minimal, which was within 0.5. The results indicated that the stability of cefditoren was significantly affected by liquid solutions mixed with cefditoren, and storage tempertature.
The Purposes of this study are to determine differences of body temperature between Right arid left subligual areas itself and differences depending upon the utilization rate of mastication according to time intervals and to determine the length of time necessary for temperature taking. This Experiment was conducted from Oct 6 through Oct 11, 1975. in which accurately tested clinical Centigrade Thermometers have been utilized. Two thermometers were inserted simultaneously under the right and left sublingual areas and the mouth kept closed while thermometers were in Place. Temperature readings were dr no at three minutes, five minutes and ten minutes. These procedures were repeated one hundred times to different subjects and the data were analyzed statistically by means of the t-test and the F-ratio. Under the 10 hypotheses designed for this study, The findings obtained are as follows; 1. The body temperatures taken at 3, 5, 10minutes intervals in the left sublingual areas were significantly higher than in the right sublingual areas , The average differences of body temperature between the right and left sublingual areas were 0.09$^{\circ}C$, 0.05$^{\circ}C$ and 0.03$^{\circ}C$ in the oder of time interval of 3, 5, and 10 minutes. 2. The body temperatures taken in the right sublingual areas among three different temperature readings, 3, 5 and 10 minutes were significantly different in 57 subjects who have been utilizing evenly both sides of the Teeth. The average readings in a group taking for 3 minutes was 37.04$^{\circ}C$, for 5 minutes 37.15$^{\circ}C$ and for 10minutes 37.28$^{\circ}C$. 3. The body temperatures taken in the left sublingual areas among three different temperature readings, 3, 5 and 10 minutes were significantly different in 57 subjects who have been utilizing evenly both sides of the tenth. The average reading in a group taking for 3 minutes was 37.13$^{\circ}C$, for 5 minutes 37.2$^{\circ}C$ and for 10 minutes 37.31$^{\circ}C$. 4., Oral temperatures taken at 3, 5, 10 minutes intervals at the side of mouth utilized for more frequent mastication were Significantly higher than the other side. The average differences of body temperature between more frequently utilized side and Less frequently utilized side were 0.08f, 0.08f and 0.09f in the order of time interval of 3, 5 and 10 minutes. 5. Oral temperature taken at the side of mouth more frequently utilized for mastication among three different temperature readings, 3, 5 and 10 minutes were significantly different in 43 subjects who have been unequally utilizing either side of teeth. The average reading in a group taking for 3 minutes was 37.09$^{\circ}C$, for 5 minutes 37.17$^{\circ}C$ and for 10 minutes 37.3$^{\circ}C$. 6. Oral temperature taken at the side of mouth less frequently utilized for mastication among three different temperature readings 3, 5 and 10 minutes were significantly different in 43 subjects who have been unequally utilizing either side of teeth. The average reading in a group taking for 3 minutes was 37.01$^{\circ}C$, for S minutes 37.09$^{\circ}C$ and for minutes 37.21$^{\circ}C$. As a result of this study, these differences among time intervals were statistically significant, but there were not so much differences as to be considered important in the clinical practice. Therefore, there would be clinically little difference between two groups who are taking for 3 minutes and for 10 minutes.

This study was designed to find the effect of Minocycline loaded microcapsule applied locally to tissue by measuring drug concentration in tissue and serum by HPLC and to achieve optimal drug delivery system and duration to a specific target site. Control group were administrated minocycline intramuscularly twice a day with $0.2{\mu}g/100g$ for 1 to 10 days. In experimental group, surgical wound was created on Rt. cheek and then minocycline loaded microcapsule was applied into the space between superficial and deep layer of masseter muscle. Animals were sacrificed at 1, 3, 5, 7, 10 days after initial administration, blood was obtained from heart and right masseter muscle was excised. Blood sample was centrifuged at 3000rpm for 15min. Tissue sample was homogenized, left at room temperature for 48hr and centrifuged at 4000g for 5min. Supernatant was completely dried and dissolved in distilled water. Analysis was conducted using a ${\mu}Bondapack$ C18 column. The mobile phase was 0.2M Ammonium Oxalate/0.1M EDTA/DMF=11/4/5 solution, which was injected into the column and detected with photodiode detector at 344nm wavelength. The results were as follows : 1. This method was reliable, could be replicated and suitable for minocycline analysis in tissue as well as serum. 2. In tissue, concentration of minocycline of experimental group was higher than that of control group for 5days. 3. Except 1 day, concentration of minocycline in serum of experimental group was lower than that of control group. 4. Concentration of minocycline in tissue was much higher than that in serum. From these results, minocycline loaded microcapsule might be effective tool for local drug delivery system might be useful for treatment of infections of oral and maxillofacial region and management of infected surgical wound, minimizing systemic effects.

Objective: We made the genital organs inflammatory mice model by vaginal injection of Lipopolysaccharide(LPS), and we intended to make study about anti-inflammatory effects of Gangyeong-Tang, among oral and rectal medication and Herbal-Acupuncture treatment. Method: The female ICR(20-30g) mice were used, the temperature was controlled within $22{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$ and water and food was not limited. The environment was manipulated to simulate 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night. After LPS injection into vagina, we confirmed on-set of inflammation. 2 days before LPS injection, we started to medicate Gangyeong-Tang in Oral and Rectal and Aqua-acupucture treatment. After 3days from LPS injection, we mesured the White Blood Cell(WBC), Interrleukin-6(IL-6), Tumor Necrosis Factor-${\alpha}$(TNF-${\alpha}$) in blood which was collected from the Retro-orbital Plexus. Results: 1. We made the genital organs inflammatory mice model by vaginal injection of LPS successfully. 2. The number of WBC was decreased significantly as we medicated Gangyeong- Tang in Oral 1g/kg dose, 3g/kg dose and Rectal 1g/kg dose, rectal 3g/kg dose. 3. The concentration of IL-6 was decreased significantly as we medicated Gangyeong-Tang in all group of the Oral, Rectal, Herbal-Acupuncture treatment. 4. The concentration of TNF-${\alpha}$ was decreased significantly as we medicated Gangyeong-Tang in Oral 3g/kg dose and Rectal 1g/kg dose, Rectal 3g/kg dose group. Herbal-Acupuncture treatment group datas showed reductive tendency. Conclusion: As a result of this experiment, we made the genital organs inflammatory mice model by vaginal injection of LPS successfully and demonstrated anti-inflammatory effect of Gangyeong-Tang.
