Organic grape was generally produced in rainshield or plastic greenhouse culture while most of fruits were produced in open field. But little attention has been given to soil properties with different culture facilities in organic grape cultivation. This study was conducted to investigate soil physico-chemical properties of organic grapes farms with different culture facilities and soil management practices. Organic fertilizer was main resource to manage soil at organic grapes farms. Organic grapes farms were applied with total amount of organic fertilizer at one time, either at basal or additional fertilization, whereas conventional grapes farms applied with split fertilization. Bulk density and penetration resistance of soil were lower at both rainshield and green manure-applied plastic greenhouse cultures than those at clean plastic greenhouse culture. Especially, in plastic greenhouse, sod culture with natural weed after green manure application was more effective than general sod culture in improving physical properties of the rhizosphere. The contents of organic matter, available phosphate and exchangeable potassium tended to increase in the soils applied with green manure, and the difference of soil chemical properties were significant between rainshield and plastic greenhouse cultures. The optimum soil management was required in plastic greenhouse because pH, available phosphate and exchangeable cations reached over optimum range. Consequently, the ground cover management is the key factor to affect the chemical properties as well as soil physical properties extensively in plastic greenhouse. It is found that sod culture with natural weed after green manure application resulted in enhancement of utilization efficiency of nitrogen, phosphoric acid and potassium in soil in comparison with general sod culture.
Microstructural evolution and the mechanical properties of various carbon steels were investigated with the variation deformation temperature to explore the optimum microstructure with excellent combination of strength and ductility. For this purpose, three carbon steels containing different carbon contents were deformed using Gleeble 3500 at temperatures including austenitic, austenitic/ferritic, austenitic/cementitic, ferritic/cementitic regions. The results showed that in the medium and high carbon steels, cementite particles became finer with decreasing deformation temperature resulting higher hardness but lower ductility. Further effort is needed to find out optimum microstructures with enhanced mechanical properties.
The apparent advantages of FRP (fiber reinforced plastics) composites over the conventional structural materials may be attributed to their high specific strength and stiffness. Other affordable properties of FRPs including an excellent durability make them particularly attractive for the structures in severe service conditions. Therefore, the material and sectional properties of a FRP structural component should be designed to meet its specific requirements and service conditions. This paper is performed the material property optimization under optimum design of pultruded FRP bridge deck section. In the problem formulation, an objective function is selected to minimize the maximum R(strength ratio). The thickness of layers, volumes of fibers and matrix fiber orientation, and stacking sequence of FRPs are used as the design variables. Strength ratio in the design code, material failure criteria and pultruded manufacture thickness are selected as the design constraints to enhance the material performance of FRP decks. From the results of the numerical investigation, we obtained the optimum deck section profile for conventional using object.
As the weight of trucks increases, the need for concrete pavement also increases. Therefore, the addition of fly-ash may improve the properties of pavement concrete as well as recycle fly-ash. A full factorial experiment was performed using the primary variables, such as water-cement ratio, fly-ash substitution ratio, and maximum size of coarse aggregate, as a preliminary study for optimum mixture design for pavement concrete. The results of preliminary study indicates that the addition of fly-ash is the most important factor determining concrete strength, followed by the maximum size of coarse aggregate and water-cement ratio. It, also, shows the relative importance of fly-ash substitution ratio, compared to the water-cement ratio, and the interaction effects between the primary variables. Optimum mixture designs for pavement concrete incorporating fly-ash, that satisfied the target responses, were proposed in terms of fly-ash substitution ratio, water cement ratio and maximum size of coarse aggregate.
Functional properties are available with sputtering. But sputtering treatment alone cannot got a good fastness performance to washing, rubbing and light. This research was objected to investigate optimum condition by sputtering on polyester through various processing conditions such as ion current and treatment time, and then various resin treated onto metal coated polyester fabrics in order to increase washing fastness of metal membrane. As the results, the optimum conditions revealed 1500 mA of ion current, 2 min of treatment time in sputter, and suitable resin concentrations were 2% of o.w.s (on the weight of solution) in resin treatment. Therefore, we could get enhanced anti-static effect and flex stiffness as well as washing fastness in sputtered polyester fabric with various resin treatment, for example, melamine and polyurethane.
Extrusion conditions were optimized for blends of ground lamb and starch using a single-screw extruder for the purpose of producing expanded snack-type products. A central composite rotatable response surface methodology(RSM) design was used with variation in feed moisture, process temperature, and screw speed. The three variables significantly affected one or more of the measured physical properties of extrudates. The optimum conditions for minimum shear force values were 26.5% feed moisture, $148^{\circ}C$ process temperature, and 134 rpm screw speed. Lean ground beef, chicken, goat, lamb or mutton was blended with corn starch, and extruded at the optimum condition established from RSM experiments. Physical/rheological properties were generally similar, water activity was low (<0.12) and total aerobic plate counts were <10 for all products. Extrudates containing chicken had the highest ratio of polyunsaturated fatty acids to saturated fatty acids, whereas those containing beef had the highest ratio of monounsaturated fatty acids to saturated fatty acids. Sensory data indicated that texture was acceptable and flavor characteristics were not different among the products.
Studies on some properties of cellulase isolated from Piricularia oryzae. Crude cellulases were prepared from dried rice plant powder (Tong-il, Pal-dal) culture of P. oryzae(N-2, C-8, T-2). The best yield of enzyme was obtained from the medium using Tong-il rice plant powder for P. oryzae cav. N-2 and 2%-sucrose concentration in preculture media. Two units of the enzyme were incubated at $60^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour with 1.0ml, 0.6% Na-CMC. The optimum temperature for the enzyme activity was at $60^{\circ}C$ and the optimum pH was at pH4.0. When Na-CMC was used as substrate the $K_m$ values of crude enzyme were calculated to be $1.05{\times}10^{-4}\;mM\;and\;V_{max}$ was 2.8 mmole/hour. A 10-fold partial purification was achieved by $(NH_4)_2SO_4$ precipitation followed by column chromatography on DEAE Sephadex A-25.
Optimum preparation conditions for chicken head soup base were determined in terms of the effects of amount of chicken head and cooking time using response surface methodology based on sensory properties. Sensory properties that were evaluated were yellowness, turbidity, bloody, chicken-brothy, organ meat-like, and fat-like flavor. All values of sensory characteristics increased remarkably with an increase in the amount of chicken head and cooking time. The optimum amount of chicken head and cooking time were determined to be 1800 g and 150 minutes, respectively. Chicken head soup base had less fat, free amino acids, nucleotides, and its derivatives, but had significantly more cholesterol, sodium, and iron than whole chicken soup base. In flavor compound analysis, the amount of hexanal of the chicken head soup base, which is related to fat rancidity flavor, was 11-fold higher than that of the whole chicken soup base.
Studies on the optimum conditions for dextran production and the properties of dextransucrase (DS) were performed with Leuconostoc mesenteroides from Sikhae and Leuconostoc mesenteroides NRRL B-512(F). Dextransucrases were partially purified by lyophilization of the culture supernatant and subsequent gel chromatography on Bio-Gel A-5(m). The storage stabilities of Sikhae DS and B-512(F) DS were decreaed by the addition of dextranase. The optimum conditions for the enzyme stability were pH 5 and below $30^{\circ}C$. The B-512(F) DS lost the activity at pH 4, while Sikhae DS had 30% of the activity at the same pH. The activity of DS was decreased by EDTA. confirming the metalloprotein character of the enzymes, and was restored by the addition of calcium ions. Concanavalin A completely removed the activity of DSs, confirming the glycoprotein character of the enzymes.
This research investigates experimentally an effect on the properties of the combined high flowing concrete by mix design factors. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimum mix proportion of the combined high flowing concrete having good flowability, viscosity, no-segregation and design strength(40.0MPa). For this purpose, trial mixings used belite cement+lime stone powder(LSP) are tested by mix design factors including water-cement ratio($47.9\~54.0\%$), fine aggregate volume ratio($41\~45\%$) and coarse aggregate volume ratio($41\~45\%$). As test results of this study, the optimum mix proportion for the combined high flowing concrete is as followings. Water-cement ratio $51.0\%$, fine aggregate volume ratio $43{\pm}1\%$ and coarse aggregate volume ratio $0.30{\pm}0.05m^3/m^3$ and replacement ratio of LSP $42.7\%$.
