This paper proposes a method for determining the number of storage rooms and designing the storage layout in warehouses for pyramid type stacks whose example are slacks for steel coils, paper rolls, and drums for oils. Formulas are derived for estimating the expected values and the variances of various handling times by cranes. From the derived formulas, the expected queuing time of road trucks is estimated. Base on the derived formulas, this study derives the cost function for determining the optimal numbers of rows, bays, and tiers of stacks and sizing cranes under the condition that the requirement for storage space is satisfied. Results of numerical analysis are provided.
Numerical and experimental works have been made in order to figure out the physical mechanism of thermal storage system for the determination of optimal design and to enhance the thermal efficiency of the system. To this end a computer program is developed and evaluated successfully against experimental data measured with a bench scale facility. Considering the thermal efficiency of storage is critically impaired by the mixing effect, the minimum flow mixing situation is calculated by the assumption of uniform plug-type flow as a reference condition. Further a parametric systematic calculations have been made for a hypothetical full-scale storage system with Fr, storage dimension, diffuser type and loading hour, etc.
Vertical open display cases are widely used in shopping malls, supermarkets, or retail stores to sell frozen and refrigerated products. Open display cases use air curtains to maintain a reasonable temperature within the storage space, prevent insects from breaking in, and reduce energy usage. In this research, computational fluid dynamics was used to find the optimal condition for reducing energy by considering various conditions such as discharge speed or temperature of air curtains. Results of the study showed that the amount of energy consumed in the display cabinet is influenced by the discharge speed and temperature of the slots installed on the upper area and the amount of air supplied to the storage area inside the shelf. This shows that the amount of discharged air supplied from the storage area influences the formation of air curtain and also the amount of energy consumption. As a result of this study, we learned that the amount of energy used can be reduced by increasing the amount of discharged air within the storage area and enhancing back pressure.
$ZrV_{0.7}Mn_{0.5}Ni_{1.2}$ alloy is attractive for anode material in Ni/MH secondary battery because of its large hydrogen storage capacity in gas-solid reaction and long cycling durability in KOH electrolyte. In this work, in order to further improve the discharge performance of this alloy electrode, the alloy was annealed by optimal condition which is for 12 hours at $1000^{\circ}C$. The alloy annealed under optimal condition had higher rate capability and discharge capacity than as-cast one. The microstructure of the as-cast and annealed alloy was investigated by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy. Ni content in the matrix was increased, being this homogenized after annealing. Additionally, The measurement of the surface area by B.E.T. analysis showed that there was little difference as-cast and annealed alloy. Therefore, improvement in the rate capability of the annealed alloy is due to increase of Ni content in the matrix.
The optimal synthesis condition based on the yield of thiamine mononitrate has been attained according to Box-wilson experimental design. The optimal condition was as follows : Molar concentration ratio of $SB1{\cdot}HCL=0.6839$, quantity of $NH_4NO_3=50.09g$, agitation velocity=51.6rpm, reaction temperature=22.8$^{\circ}C$. The stabilities of three kinds of thiamine monosalts(thiamine monoiodide, -monobromide, -monorhodanate) were investigated in sterile solution, compressed tablet and multivitamin capsule, respectively. Assay data are given to show that thiamine monosalts are not significantly higher than that of thiamine mononitrate in sterile solutions and the addition of an acidic stabilizer is unnecessary. The solutions were clear and free of precipitate and didn't discolored after storage at room temperature and 40$^{\circ}C$ for 6 months. The tablets and capsules were assayed initially and at predetermined intervals during storage at room temperature and 40$^{\circ}C$ for 6 months. Thiamine monorhodanate was found to be more stable than other thiamine monosalts in these compressed tablets containing other vitamin of the B complex and the data indicate that thiamine monosalts was similar to that of thiamine mononitrate in the multivitamine capsules.
In this study, quantity and quality of collected rainwater by the ground collection system were investigated and the Rainwater Collection Prediction Model was developed to predict the amount of collected rainwater. The quantity of collected rainwater in the collection system was 9516 L(38.2%) and the quantity of infiltrated rainwater in the collection system was 9946 L(40.2%) through $25m^2$ area for the study period, respectively. Average turbidity of collected rainwater in collection system was 2.2 NTU, and average turbidity of infiltrated rainwater in collection system was 2.3 NTU for study period, respectively. The predicted amount by the model and the actual collected amount were 9842.4 L and 9516 L, which were very close showing that prediction was excellent. The optimal rainwater storage tank volume was simulated with a certain consumption condition for various cities with different rainfall patterns.
During transportation and preservation of Takju, alcohol fermentation has continued to produce $C0_2$ from residual sugar and frequently spoiled owing to bacterial contaminants wich produce organic acids. The authors could preserve Takju for more than 50 days at room temperature by pasteurization without any changes of quality. For the optimal condition of pasteurization, fresh Takju was heated at various temperatures and times. D-Value of the Saccharomyces sp. which isolated from Takju collected at seoul area was 19 see at $55^{\circ}C$. Non-spore forming bacterial contaminants, most of which known to cause acid-spoilage, were decreased when heated at $55^{\circ}C$ for 5 min. The optimal pasteurization condition of Takju was at $55^{\circ}C$ for 10 min. Spore forming bacterial contaminants, considered to be EuciiLw sp., were not sterilized after pasteurized at the optimal condition. However, the spore-forming bacteria could not increase any more and also not cause increment of acidity during preservation even at room temperature for 50 days. Reducing sugar was increased during storage of Takju after pasteurization. This suggests that the residual glucoamylase in Takju is still active after pasteurizsation and keep sweet taste.

Hypoosmotic swelling test (HOST) is used for evaluating the plasma membrane function and fertilizing ability in mammal spermatozoa. However, HOS solutions and experimental conditions have not been determined clearly for assessing canine spermatozoa. This study was conducted to examine the HOS solutions and assay conditions, including incubation time (30 to 120 min), storage temperature (4, 17 and $20^{\circ}C$), semen status (fresh and frozen). Maximum spermatozoal plasma membrane swelling was obtained in an 150 mOsm Na-citrate/Fructose solutions with an incubation time for 45 min. The storage temperature and semen status affected the percentage of HOS positive spermatozoa. The HOS test adapted to canine spermatozoa in this study was simple and highly consistent assay with good repeatability. The optimal condition of HOST in canine spermatozoa is an 150 mOsm Na-citrate/Fructose solutions with an incubation time for 45 min regardless of semen storage temperature and semen status.
In this study the results of optimal water supply analysis by operating constraints of reservoirs during drought period are as follows. During drought period, water supply reliability is possible about $97\~61{\%}$ by CASE 1-CASE 5. Water supply reliability is possible about $97.3{\%}$ in case of the Andong dam and $87.7{\%}$ in case of the Imha dam by CASE 3. Also, under the constraints of CASE 4, water supply reliability is possible about $87.5{\%}$ in case of the Andong dam and $73.3{\%}$ in case of the Imha dam. The reason what low of available water supply ratio is decreased inflow of Imha dam. When compare standard deviation of average storage with standard deviation of storage, stable storage can be secured during successive drought period. And it also can minimize shortage of water during drought. therefore, it is impossible that reservoir supply sufficient water but change of operating condition is better than pervious on that followed by full reservoir level. It is need that the study for optimal water supply during drought period has to be continued.
In order to determine the optimal storage conditions of Capsosiphon fulvescens (maesaengi), 2 types of wash solutions (distilled water and seawater) and storage temperatures (-20 and $-80^{\circ}C$) were evaluated for the effectiveness of microbial growth inhibition and the changes of texture, color, and proximate composition. Thawed samples that had been washed with seawater and stored at $-20^{\circ}C$ for 50 days showed a 1.1-fold increase in hardness compared to the initial hardness of the sample ($1.9{\times}10^5\;dyne/cm^2$). There was no change in moisture, ash, or crude lipid during storage at -20 and $-80^{\circ}C$ for 60 days, while there was a $1{\pm}0.2%$ decrease in crude protein content for the control during storage at both -20 and $-80^{\circ}C$ for 60 days. In conclusion, the recommended optimal storage conditions for retaining the quality of C. fulvescens are: temperatures at or below $-20^{\circ}C$ and washings with either distilled water or seawater for inhibiting microbial growth, temperatures at or below $-20^{\circ}C$ and a washing with seawater to prevent reductions in hardness, and a temperature of $-80^{\circ}C$ and washings with either distilled water or seawater to protect against color changes.
