An Improved Dynamic Programming Approach to Economic Power Dispatch with Generator Constraints and Transmission Losses

  • This paper presents an improved dynamic programming (IDP) approach to solve the economic power dispatch problem including transmission losses in power systems. A detailed mathematical derivation of recursive dynamic programming approach for the economic power dispatch problem with transmission losses is presented. The transmission losses are augmented with the objective function using price factor. The generalized expression for optimal scheduling of thermal generating units derived in this article can be implemented for the solution of the economic power dispatch problem of a large-scale system. Six-unit, fifteen-unit, and forty-unit sample systems with non-linear characteristics of the generator, such as ramp-rate limits and prohibited operating zones are considered to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The proposed method results have been compared with the results of genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization methods reported in the literature. Test results show that the proposed IDP approach can obtain a higher quality solution with better performance.

  • Procurement decisions for inspection equipment are often made heavily based on the initial purchase price instead of the effects of inspection cost, equipment calibration and utilization over the lifetime. Cost of ownership(COO) models that take into account all of these cost factors together have been developed focusing on a single quality characteristic. In modern manufacturing environment, inspection equipment often can deal with more than one quality characteristic simultaneously. In this paper, we propose the revised COO model for the economic evaluation of the inspection equipment that can accommodate multiple quality characteristics. We also employ an engineering economy model to compare equipments with different life span. Software is developed for handy comparison of the COO of alternative equipments along with sensitivity analysis far the optimal procurement decision.

  • Transmission congestion is one of the Key factor to local market power in competitive electricity markets. Financial transmission rights provide the financial protection to their holders by paying back the congestion cost. However, the market participants who have market power can exacerbate their market power. This paper analyzes the effect of exercising local market power with the rights on the market price. The proposed methodology was demonstrated with the Optimal Power Flow(OPF). Case study is fulfilled by GAMS simulation. The simulation are condusted in case of Nodal Pricing.

  • In this paper, the energy cost saving in multi-channel electric vehicle charging system. Joint use of the electric car charger battery state of charging proposed a method based charging. A linear programming with two type is used for optimal control, and the time-of-use price is included to calculate the energy costs. Simulation results show that the reductions of energy cost and peak power can be obtained using proposed method.

  • Customer satisfaction level is usually measured in terms of price, quality, customization, after-sale-service, product variety etc. Each finn sets up a distinctive production/marketing strategy to gain competitive advantage by prioritizing the customer satisfaction measures. The market differentiation strategy directly results in supply chain performance such as lead time, inventory, customer fill rate and market share. Product proliferation desirable in customization sense often conflicts the economies of scale effect in production side. This paper focuses the relationship between product variety and market share. Specifically, we investigate how introduction of new product affects the current market share, i.e.,) formation of customer preference and provide some insight into the optimal range of product variety.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 요금 리밸런싱의 경제적 효과를 이론적인 측면에서 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 기존의 통신요금이론의 틀 속에서 국내 유선전화 시장의 특성을 반영한 최적가격설정모형을 수립하고, 이 모형을 통해 도출되는 최적 기본요금과 서비스별 최적 사용요금의 특성을 분석함으로써 사회적 후생을 극대화하는 최적 가격체계가 요금 리밸런싱의 관점에서 어떤 방향으로의 리밸런싱과 부합하는지를 규명하였다. 특히 모형의 최적해를 이용하여 다양한 파라미터 값에 대한 수치예제 분석을 실시함으로써 보다 풍부한 정책적 함의를 도출해 내고자 노력하였다.

  • This study is concerned with determination of an optimal target value in a filling process. Complete inspection procedures are widely used to improve outgoing quality of products. In many cases, however, it may be impossible or noneconomical to measure the quality characteristic, performance variable, directly. In such cases, it is a common practice to select an easily measurable variable which is highly correlated with the performance variable and perform screening products for the variable. This study proposes a model to determine the target value and the inspection rule based on the screening variable. This, study deals with the cases in which rejected products would be scrapped and sold at a reduced price in secondary markets.

  • This study is to develop a web-based integrated system for flow of agricultural products based on recent researches with engineering approach. The system stands on the basis of web for accessibility and usability. Three parts of the system consist of analysis of regional shipping characteristics using tank model, estimation of pallet load efficiency with Monte Carlo Simulation, a long term prediction of market price with reliability analysis. Besides a decision support module for selecting optimal shipping market is added through synthesizing techniques and spatial analysis using GIS and applied to Chinese cabbage of Pyeongchang in 2004.

  • 현재의 예방정비계획 운영 방법은 KPX에서 발전 사업자들로부터 희망하는 자신들의 발전기 예방정비계획 일정을 받아서 공급예비력 기준을 만족하면 승인을 해주는 방법으로 진행되고 있다. 이는 경제적인 부분을 예방정비계획 수립에 반영하지 못하고 계통의 신뢰도 측면만을 판단하는 것으로 생각할 수 있다. 따라서 발전비용을 최소화하는 예방정비계획 최적화 모델을 적용하여 예방정비계획 수립 시 경제성을 반영하려 한다. 이를 통해 연발전비용을 낮추면서 연평균 SMP 또한 낮춤으로서 한전과 발전사업자 모두에게 이익을 가져다 줄 수 있는 것이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 비용 최소화를 목적함수로 하는 tool을 적용한 예방정비계획 최적 값과 기존의 예방정비계획을 공급예비율, 계통한계가격(System Marginal Price, SMP), 발전비용 세 가지로 나눠 비교하고 신뢰도와 경제성을 고려한 최적 예방정비계획을 수립하였다.
