  • In CLOS guidance, feedback compensation of the Coriolis acceleration is used to reduce miss distance. This paper presents the effects of the bandwidth of target and missile on the optimal Coriolis acceleration compensation. A state space formulation of CLOS guidance is used to implement CLOS guidance in feedback form. And the LQR control method is applied to find the optimal feedback gain. From the analysis of the Riccati equations of the optimal control, the following facts are observed: When the target is agile, the optimal gain is reduced, since the compensation becomes ineffective. The missile bandwidth also affects the Coriolis accleration compensation. Narrower missile requires more compensation for the Coriolis acceleration.

  • Aiming at the negative sequence and harmonic problems in the operation of railway static power conditioners, an optimization compensation strategy for negative sequence and harmonics is studied in this paper. First, the hybrid RPC topology and compensation principle are analyzed to obtain different compensation zone states and current capacities. Second, in order to optimize the RPC capacity configuration, the minimum RPC compensation capacity is calculated according to constraint conditions, and the optimal compensation coefficient and compensation angle are obtained. In addition, the voltage unbalance ${\varepsilon}_U$ and power factor requirements are satisfied. A PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) algorithm is used to calculate the three indexes for minimum compensating energy. The proposed method can precisely calculate the optimal compensation capacity in real time. Finally, MATLAB simulations and an experimental platform verify the effectiveness and economics of the proposed algorithm.

Integrated Engine-CVT Control Considering Powertrain Response Lag in Acceleration

  • In this paper, an engine-CVT integrated control algorithm is suggested by considering the inertia torque and the CVT ratio change response lag in acceleration. In order to compensate for drive torque time delay due to CVT response lag, two algorithms are presented: (1) an optimal engine torque compensation algorithm, and (2) an optimal engine speed compensation algorithm. Simulation results show that the optimal engine speed compensation algorithm gives better engine operation around the optimal operation point compared to the optimal torque compensation while showing nearly the same acceleration response. The performance of the proposed engine-CVT integrated control algorithms are compared with those of conventional CVT control, and It is found that optimal engine operation can be achieved by using integrated control during acceleration, and improved fuel economy can be expected while also satisfying the driver's demands.

Compensation for Distorted Signals by using Optimal Pump Light Power in WDM Systems with Non-midway Optical Phase Conjugator

  • In this paper, the optimal pump light power of optical phase conjugator (OPC) and the compensation characteristics of distorted WDM channel signals are numerically investigated, when the OPC with highly-nonlinear dispersion shifted fiber (HNL-DSF) not be placed at the mid-way of total transmission length. The total dispersion of former half section and latter half section is assumed to be same each other in this approach. It is confirmed that, in WDM transmission systems with OPC deviated from the mid-way, the pump light power for best compensation must be flexible selected depending on the OPC position. This optimal pump light power is gradually increased as the OPC is gradually closer to the receiver. Consequently, it is possible to establish the compensation system independent on the OPC position by setting optimal pump light power connected with the OPC position.

  • 본 연구에서는 3개 이상의 기둥그룹에 대해서도 일반적으로 적용 가능한 기둥축소량의 최적보정기법을 제안하고, 이를 실제 시공된 건물에 적용하여 그 적용성을 평가하였다. 제안된 최적보정기법은 성능 및 시공상의 제약조건을 만족하면서 보정개소를 최소한으로 할 수 있는 층그룹 및 이때의 보정량을 산정하며, 상대보정뿐만 아니라 절대보정을 고려한 혼합보정도 가능하다. 최적보정에는 시뮬레이티드 어닐링(simulated annealing)이 주요 알고리즘으로 사용되었다. 제안된 기법을 실제 축소량 보정이 수행된 61층 건물에 적용한 결과, 보정량을 쉽게 산출할 수 있고 또한 실무방식보다 보정개소를 줄일 수 있어 적용성이 뛰어남을 확인하였다.

최적의 2차 편광모드분산 보상에 관한 이론적 고찰 (Theory of optimal second-order PMD compensation)

  • 본 논문에서는 피드포워드(feedforward) 방식의 2차 편광모드분산 보상에 있어서 보상 장치에서 발생시켜야 할 최적의 보상 벡터를 펄스 폭 증가율을 최소화함으로써 이론적으로 유도하였다. 최적의 2차 보상 벡터는 전송 선로의 편광모드분산 벡터의 단순한 Taylor전개식과는 달리, 편광모드분산 벡터와 출력 신호 편광의 주파수 평균들의 선형 조합으로 표현됨을 밝혔다. 최적의 2차 편광모드분산 보상에서의 펄스 폭 증가율을 해석적으로 계산하였으며, 계산 결과를 전산 모의 실험에 의한 결과와 비교하여 일치함을 확인하였다. 본 논문에서 유도한 최적의 2차 보상 벡터에 관한 공식은 피드포워드 방식의 2차 편광모드분산 보상에 반드시 필요한 정보를 제공한다.

Optimal Shunt Compensation for Improving Voltage Stability and Transfer Capability in Metropolitan Area of the Korean Power System

  • This paper deals with shunt compensation to eliminate voltage violation and enhance transfer capability, which is motivated towards implementation in the Korean power system. The optimal shunt compensation algorithm has demonstrated its effectiveness in terms of voltage accuracy and reducing the number of actions of reactive power compensating devices. The main shunt compensation devices are capacitor and reactor. Effects of control devices are evaluated by cost computations. The control objective at present is to keep the voltage profile of a key bus within constraints with minimum switching cost. A robust control strategy is proposed to make the control feasible and optimal for a set of power-flow cases that may occurs important event from system. Case studies with metropolitan area of the Korean power system are presented to illustrate the method.

  • In resent years, electric power quality has become an important issue in power system. Voltage variation and compensation countermeasures of KEPCO system in west Gyeongnam have been simulated using PSS/E. In this paper, in the abnormal power system, the adaption of SVC, high speed and continuous control are simulated for voltage compensation. It is shown that the SVC is the optimal voltage compensation method in loop power system or 2 lines radial system.

실시간 오차 보정을 위한 열변형 오차 모델의 최적 변수 선택 (Optimal Variable Selection in a Thermal Error Model for Real Time Error Compensation)

  • The object of the thermal error compensation system in machine tools is improving the accuracy of a machine tool through real time error compensation. The accuracy of the machine tool totally depends on the accuracy of thermal error model. A thermal error model can be obtained by appropriate combination of temperature variables. The proposed method for optimal variable selection in the thermal error model is based on correlation grouping and successive regression analysis. Collinearity matter is improved with the correlation grouping and the judgment function which minimizes residual mean square is used. The linear model is more robust against measurement noises than an engineering judgement model that includes the higher order terms of variables. The proposed method is more effective for the applications in real time error compensation because of the reduction in computational time, sufficient model accuracy, and the robustness.

현장 적용성을 고려한 기둥축소량의 최적보정시스템 개발 (Development of Field-friendly Optimal Compensation System for Differential Column Shortening)

  • 본 연구에서는 현장 적용성을 고려한 기둥축소량의 최적보정시스템을 그래픽-사용자 인터페이스의 컴퓨터 프로그램으로 개발하였다. 구현된 시스템은 성능 및 시공상의 다양한 제약조건을 만족하면서 상대보정과 혼합보정이 모두 가능하다. 제안된 시스템에서는 기둥축소량 보정전과 보정후의 구조물 형상을 그래픽으로 확인가능하며, 각 층의 보정결과는 기둥축소량 보고서로 바로 활용 가능한 도면으로 출력된다. 제안된 시스템을 실제 축소량 보정이 수행된 61, 42, 49, 53층의 네 건물에 적용한 결과, 제약조건을 쉽게 변경하면서 축소량 보정을 수행할 수 있고, 기존의 방법으로는 해를 구하지 못하는 경우에도 손쉽게 해를 구할 수 있어 현장 적용성이 뛰어남을 확인하였다.
