An analytical solution to generate attitude command profile for agile spacecraft is proposed. In realistic environment, obtaining analytical minimum-time optimal solution is very difficult because of following constraints-: 1) actuator saturation, 2) flexible mode excitation, 3) uplink command bandwidth limit. For that reasons, this paper applies two simplifications, an eigen-axis rotation and a finite-jerk approximated profile, to derive the solution in an analytical manner. The resulting attitude profile can be used as a feedforward or reference input to on-board attitude controller, and it can enhance spacecraft agility. Equations of attitude command profile are derived in two general boundary conditions: rest-to-rest maneuver and spin-to-spin maneuver. Simulation results demonstrate that the initial and final boundary conditions, in terms of time, attitude, and angular velocities, are well satisfied with the proposed analytical solution. The derived attitude command generation algorithm may be used to minimize a number of parameters to be uploaded to spacecraft or to automate a sequence of attitude command generation on-board.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate and seek the best suitable band and threshold boundary level on the change detection of image differencing method using Landsat TM data(20 May 1987 and 20 May 1993) in Pyeongtaeg City. The change detection images differencing method were evaluated by using normal reference data with an optimal threshold level{$mean{\pm}(SD{\times}T$ value). The normal reference data consisted of positive change{change dark into light in image pattern, that is, it changed arable land(paddy, upland, forest and so on) to artificial area(buildings, vinyl-house and roads, etc)} and negative change(change light into dark in image pattern, that is, it changed artificial area into arable land). As the result, the kappa coefficients of visible bands(D1, D2 and D3) were higher than those of infrared bands(D4, D5 and D7), and than D1 image with 1.0 thresholding and normal reference data was a improved result in the land-surface change detection such as kappa coefficient : 68.4%, overall accuracy : 89.2%, negative change : 6.6%, positive change : 10.6%.
The development impact fee (DIF) zoning is a very beneficial public tool to provide the pre-planned urban infrastructures in those areas where significant urban sprawl had already taken place. In order to guarantee its benefit, however, it is required to designate the zone boundaries accurately and consistently. This study, in this context, tries to test the validity of the 50m-grid suggested in the official DIF manual, and to compare an alternative Hot Spot Analysis tool with the existing Spatial Aggregation method in configuring the zone boundaries. The results indicate that, unlike the case of population growth rate, current 50m grid size could not be much adequate in the case of using the development-permit increase rate to configure the primary DIF zones. Also, the optimal grid sizes seem to differ in the cases of Spatial Aggregation and Hot Spot Analysis. Further extended studies, in this regard, seem necessary to check the validity of the existing grid-size criteria as well as the boundary configuration methods.

An efficient symbol time synchronization scheme for IEEE 802.11n MIMO-OFDM based WLAN systems using cyclic shift diversity (CSD) preamble is proposed. CSD is used to prevent unintentional beamforming when the same preamble signal is transmitted through transmit antennas. However, it is difficult to find a proper starting-point of the OFDM symbol with the conventional algorithms because of time offset by multi-peaks which are result from cross-correlation of received CSD preamble with a known short training symbol. In addition, the performance of symbol time sync. is affected by AGC and packet detection position. In this paper, an optimal symbol time synch. algorithm which is composed of the boundary detection scheme between LTS and OFDM symbols, the verification scheme for enhancement of boundary detection accuracy, and the SNR-varying threshold estimation scheme is proposed. Simulation result show that the proposed algorithm has performance gains of 4.3dB in SNR compared to the conventional algorithms at the rate of 1% sync. failure probability for $2{\times}2$ MIMO-OFDM system and 18dB at 0.1% when maximum frequency offset exists. It also can be applied to $4{\times}4$ MIMO-OFDM system without any modification. Hence, it is very suitable for MIMO-OFDM WLAN systems using CSD preamble.

Multimodal biometrics is a method for personal authentication and verification using more than two types of biometrics data. RBF based score-level fusion uses pattern recognition algorithm for multimodal biometrics, seeking the optimal decision boundary to classify score feature vectors each of which consists of matching scores obtained from several unimodal biometrics system for each sample. In this case, all matching scores are assumed to have the same reliability. However, in recent research it is reported that the quality of input sample affects the result of biometrics. Currently the matching scores having low reliability caused by low quality of samples are not currently considered for pattern recognition modelling in multimodal biometrics. To solve this problem, in this paper, we proposed the RBF based score-level fusion approach which employs quality information of input biometrics data to adjust decision boundary. As a result the proposed method with Qualify information showed better recognition performance than both the unimodal biometrics and the usual RBF based score-level fusion without using quality information.

This paper is to discuss analytical techniques to estimate demand sizes and volumes that determine optimal locations for multiple facilities for a given services. While demand size estimation is a core part of location modeling to enhance solution quality and practical applicability, the estimation method has been used in limited and restrict parts such as a single population centroid in a given larger census boundary area or small theoretical application experiments(e.s. census track and enumeration district). Therefore, this paper strives to develop an analytical estimation method of demand size that converts area based demand data to point based population weighted centroids. This method is free to spatial boundary units and more robust to estimate accurate demand volumes regardless of geographic boundaries. To improve the estimation accuracy, this paper uses house weighted value to the population centroid calculation process. Then the population weighted centroids are converted to individual demand points on a grid formated surface area. In turn, the population weighted centroids, demand points and network distance measures are operated into location-allocation models to examine their roles to enhance solution quality and applicability of GIS location models. Finally, this paper demonstrates the robustness of the weighted estimation method with the application of location-allocation models.

The space between urban buildings becomes a waterway during rain events and requires a boundary condition in numerical calculations on grids to separate overland storm flows from building areas. Minimization of the building data distortion as a boundary condition is a necessary step for generating accurate calculation results. A building generalization is used to reduce the distortion of building shapes and areas during a raster conversion. The objective of this study was to provide the appropriate threshold value for building generalization and grid size in a numerical calculation. The impact of building generation on the connectivity of urban storm waterways were analyzed for a general residential area. The building generalization threshold value and the grid size for numerical analysis were selected as the independent variables for analysis, and the number and area of sinks were used as the dependent variables. The values for the building generalization threshold and grid size were taken as the optimal values to maximize the building area and minimize the sink area. With a 3 m generalization threshold, sets of $5{\times}5m$ to $10{\times}10m$ caused 5% less building area and 94.4% more sink area compared to the original values. Two sites representing general residential area types 2 and 3 were used to verify building generalization thresholds for improving the connectivity of storm waterways. It is clear that the recommended values are effective for reducing the distortion in both building and sink areas.

The present study examined the effects of various guide fin structures and boundary parameters on the thermal performance of heat exchangers used in heat recovery thermoelectric generators. The heat transfer rate and pressure drop of the heat exchangers without fins, with circular fins, with triangular fins, and with combined circular and triangular fins were simulated numerically using ANSYS 19.1 commercial code to confirm the effect of the guide fin structures. The heat transfer rate of the heat exchanger with combined fins was 27.0%, 5.2%, and 1.5% higher than those without fins, with circular fins, and with triangular fins, respectively. The pressure drop characteristic of the heat exchanger with the combined fins was 28.3% higher than that without fins but 9.2% and 10.5% lower than those with circular fins and with triangular fins, respectively. The heat exchanger with combined fins as the optimal model showed the highest heat transfer rate of 5664.9 W and pressure drop of 1454.02 Pa for highest hot gas temperature, maximum flow rates of hot gas and coolant, and lowest coolant temperature.

In Korea, 64% of the land is known as mountain area, but the definition and classification standard of mountain are not clear. Demand for utilization and development of mountain area is increasing. In this situation, the unclear definition and scope of the mountain area can lead to the destruction of the mountain and the increase of disasters due to indiscreet permission of forestland use conversion. Therefore, this study analyzed the variables and criteria that can extract the mountain boundaries through the questionnaire survey and the terrain analysis. We developed a mountain boundary extraction algorithm that can classify topographic mountain by using selected variables. As a result, 72.1% of the total land was analyzed as mountain area. For the three catchment areas with different mountain area ratio, we compared the results with the existing data such as forestland map and cadastral map. We confirmed the differences in boundary and distribution of mountain. In a catchment area with predominantly mountainous area, the algorithmbased mountain classification results were judged to be wider than the mountain or forest of the two maps. On the other hand, in the basin where the non-mountainous region predominated, algorithm-based results yielded a lower mountain area ratio than the other two maps. In the two maps, we was able to confirm the distribution of fragmented mountains. However, these areas were classified as non-mountain areas in algorithm-based results. We concluded that this result occurred because of the algorithm, so it is necessary to refine and elaborate the algorithm afterward. Nevertheless, this algorithm can analyze the topographic variables and the optimal value by watershed that can distinguish the mountain area. The results of this study are significant in that the mountain boundaries were extracted considering the characteristics of different mountain topography by region. This study will help establish policies for stable mountain management.
Brand switching data frequently used in market structure analysis is adequate to analyze non- durable goods, because it can capture competition between specific two brands. But brand switching data sometimes can not be used to analyze goods like automobiles having long term duration because one of main assumptions that consumer preference toward brand attributes is not changed against time can be violated. Therefore a new type of data which can precisely capture competition among durable goods is needed. Another problem of using brand switching data collected from actual purchase behavior is short of explanation why consumers consider different set of brands. Considering above problems, main purpose of this study is to analyze market structure for durable goods with consideration set. The author uses exploratory approach and latent class clustering to identify market structure based on heterogeneous consideration set among consumers. Then the relationship between some factors and consideration set formation is analyzed. Some benefits and two demographic variables - age and income - are selected as factors based on consumer behavior theory. The author analyzed USA automotive market with top 11 brands using exploratory approach and latent class clustering. 2,500 respondents are randomly selected from the total sample and used for analysis. Six models concerning market structure are established to test. Model 1 means non-structured market and model 6 means market structure composed of six sub-markets. It is exploratory approach because any hypothetical market structure is not defined. The result showed that model 1 is insufficient to fit data. It implies that USA automotive market is a structured market. Model 3 with three market structures is significant and identified as the optimal market structure in USA automotive market. Three sub markets are named as USA brands, Asian Brands, and European Brands. And it implies that country of origin effect may exist in USA automotive market. Comparison between modal classification by derived market structures and probabilistic classification by research model was conducted to test how model 3 can correctly classify respondents. The model classify 97% of respondents exactly. The result of this study is different from those of previous research. Previous research used confirmatory approach. Car type and price were chosen as criteria for market structuring and car type-price structure was revealed as the optimal structure for USA automotive market. But this research used exploratory approach without hypothetical market structures. It is not concluded yet which approach is superior. For confirmatory approach, hypothetical market structures should be established exhaustively, because the optimal market structure is selected among hypothetical structures. On the other hand, exploratory approach has a potential problem that validity for derived optimal market structure is somewhat difficult to verify. There also exist market boundary difference between this research and previous research. While previous research analyzed seven car brands, this research analyzed eleven car brands. Both researches seemed to represent entire car market, because cumulative market shares for analyzed brands exceeds 50%. But market boundary difference might affect the different results. Though both researches showed different results, it is obvious that country of origin effect among brands should be considered as important criteria to analyze USA automotive market structure. This research tried to explain heterogeneity of consideration sets among consumers using benefits and two demographic factors, sex and income. Benefit works as a key variable for consumer decision process, and also works as an important criterion in market segmentation. Three factors - trust/safety, image/fun to drive, and economy - are identified among nine benefit related measure. Then the relationship between market structures and independent variables is analyzed using multinomial regression. Independent variables are three benefit factors and two demographic factors. The result showed that all independent variables can be used to explain why there exist different market structures in USA automotive market. For example, a male consumer who perceives all benefits important and has lower income tends to consider domestic brands more than European brands. And the result also showed benefits, sex, and income have an effect to consideration set formation. Though it is generally perceived that a consumer who has higher income is likely to purchase a high priced car, it is notable that American consumers perceived benefits of domestic brands much positive regardless of income. Male consumers especially showed higher loyalty for domestic brands. Managerial implications of this research are as follow. Though implication may be confined to the USA automotive market, the effect of sex on automotive buying behavior should be analyzed. The automotive market is traditionally conceived as male consumers oriented market. But the proportion of female consumers has grown over the years in the automotive market. It is natural outcome that Volvo and Hyundai motors recently developed new cars which are targeted for women market. Secondly, the model used in this research can be applied easier than that of previous researches. Exploratory approach has many advantages except difficulty to apply for practice, because it tends to accompany with complicated model and to require various types of data. The data needed for the model in this research are a few items such as purchased brands, consideration set, some benefits, and some demographic factors and easy to collect from consumers.
