  • The resonant frequency modulation of $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ meander lines has been investigated as functions of optical pulse energy and temperature by using a network analyzer. The frequency-domain measurements are performed by controlling both the resonant frequency and the frequency width. The meander lines, configured in a microstrip geometry, are illuminated by optical pulses from an actively mode-locked Nd:YAG laser. The variation of the resonant frequency shows a quadratic dependence on the reduced optical pulse energy $P/P_c$, where $P_c$ is defined as the critical optical pulse energy at which resonance signal has disappeared. As for the dependence on temperature, the results are in good agreement with the previously reported data.

  • The nonlinear three-wave interaction is an interesting topic having various applications in nonlinear optics, hydrodynamics, acoustic waves, and plasma physics. The resonant interaction between two laser pulses and a plasma wave plays important roles in plasma heating, laser reflection in the inertial confinement fusion (ICF), plasma wakefield generation, and ultra-intense laser pulse amplification and pulse compression using stimulated Raman backscattering (RBS). • This paper presents a holography through high scatter mediums. Femtosecond light pulses are used as object light and reference light. When light passes through a high scatter medium, there are ballistic light, snake light and difussive light in transmitting light. However, ballistic and snake light are very weak, difussive light is very stronge so that they can not be imaged directly, By using femtosecond laser electronic holographic gating method to gate ballistic light and snake light and multi-holograms processing technology, high quality images can be obtained. • In this paper, we implement an optical code division multiple access(OCDMA) system and analyze the performance of the implemented system. In the implemented system, a transmitter encodes input data into optical pulses by using laser diode, and spreads the encoded pulses in an encoder which consists of 4 stage delay lines. The decoder which is the same structure as that of encoder delays and combines the spreaded pulses, and thus recovers the original data. At first, we discuss the auto- and cross-correlations of OCDMA signals under both environments of single user and multi-users, and then verify the simulation results with experimental results. We also evaluate the effect of a number of stages of delay line and code length on the system performance through computer simulations. As experimental results we can see that if the decoder have the same configuration as that of encoder, the peak auto-correlation characteristics can be achieved, and thus we can recover the original data from received data. As simulation results we can see that although bit error rate decreases as code length decreases or the number of stage of delay line increases, it is difficult to implement the system because the pulse width becomes narrow. From the results, we can apply CDMA technologies to optical communication networks.
