자기혼합형 LDF 프로브와 혈류 시뮬레이터의 구현 (Implementation of a self-mixing type LDF probe and blood flow simulator)

  • In this pager, the authors have implemented a blood flow simulator and a LDF(laser Doppler flowmeter) probe using self-mixing effect of the laser diode. The purpose of the blood flow simulator is to simulate microvascular blood flow in tissue. It consists of melinex film (thickness = $123\;{\mu}m$) which has similar optical characteristics to epidermis and porous polyethylene filter (Vyon, porosity 35%, mean pore size $50\;{\mu}m$, thickness=1 mm) which has similar optical characteristics to dermis. The blood flowmeter probe consists of laser diode(5 mW, 780 nm wavelength), CD lens(focal length 12 mm). current-to-voltage converter, highpass filter, and premplifier. It doesn't need optical fiber, therefore, implementation of the probe is simpler than conventional probe using optical fiber.

The Variation of Radiation Transmittance by the cw 1.07 ㎛ Fiber Laser and Water Aerosol Interaction

  • Among the atmospheric effect of laser propagation, the variations of the radiation transmittance by water aerosol evaporation have quantitatively been investigated. When the aerosol was exposed by a 1.07 ${\mu}m$ cw fiber laser, the increased amount of the transmittance variation was a maximum of 19.1% and the volume concentration variation of aerosol was observed as an increasing of laser intensity. Also, significant irregularity of refractive index was not found in the heated area during the continuous laser heating.

  • Generally, micro-stereolithography technology uses laser and complex optical system as light source and light delivery system, respectively. In this research, a novel micro-stereolithography technology that uses UV lamp that is more economical than UV laser as light source and optical fiber that is simpler than previous light delivery system has been developed. Furthermore, precise control system that is composed of 3-axis linear stage and shutter has been used to fabricate truly three dimensional micro-structure. For confirming the feasibility of developed micro-stereolithography apparatus, the solidification experiments were conducted. The solidification widths and depths datum of photopolymer as varying scanning speed of the UV light have been obtained. Using developed apparatus, some micro structures were fabricated successfully.

Comparison of Fiber-Based Frequency Comb and Ti:Sapphire-Based Frequency Comb

  • For the first time we compare two kinds of optical frequency combs, one of which is based on a Ti:sapphire femtosecond laser and the other is based on a mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser. The comparison is performed by measuring an optical frequency standard with these two combs simultaneously. The two frequency measurements agree within 1.8 Hz ($3.8{\times}10^{-15}$) with the uncertainty of 17.2 Hz ($3.6{\times}10^{-14}$), from which it can be concluded that the Ti:sapphire-based frequency comb and the fiber-based frequency comb have no systematic discrepancy at this level of uncertainty.

  • 미세 소자를 관측, 가공 및 분석하기 위해 사용되는 기존 광학현미경은 빛으로 물체를 관측하므로 대물렌즈 (Object lens)에서의 회절한계 때문에 분해능의 있으므로 매우 뽀족한 탐침(Probe)을 시료의 표면에 근접시킨 후 표면을 주사하여 이미지를 얻는 방법이 개발되어 최근에는 Optical Fiber를 이용하여 fiber 끝단을 nano-scale 정도로 첨예화시키는 기술이 개발되었다. 이러한 광섬유 탐침은 구경의 직경이 작을수록 높은 분해능을 얻을 수 있으므로 광섬유 탐침의 제작 공정 확립은 매우 중요하다. 그 중에서 대표적인 방법이 $CO_2$ 레이저를 이용하여 가열한 후 인장 하는 방법 (Heating and Pulling)이 있다. 그래서 본 연구에서는 $CO_2$ 레이저를 이용하여 100nm 정도의 팁 반경을 갖는 뽀족한 탐침을 제작하고자 한다.

  • 간섭형 광섬유 센서의 경우 소자의 구성만 적절히 바꾸어 다른 종류의 측정에도 사용될 수 있다는 점에 착안하여 여러 종류의 센서를 동시에 신호처리할 수 있는 원격 다중화 광섬유 센서 시스템을 구현하였다. 구현된 센서 시스템의 신호처리는 간단한 광학 구성으로 원격 다중화 측정이 가능하도록 광섬유 Fabry-Perot 간섭형 센서배열을 가정하여 피측정량의 변화에 의한 간섭 무늬의 수만 카운트하는 디지털 신호처리로 구성되었다. 광섬유의 광학 효과에 대한 데이터를 종합함으로써 센서 시스템에 부착할 센서를 구현하기 위해 적합한 광학효과를 선택하는 기준을 제시하였으며, 한 예로서 반경 4.3 cm의 원형 다이아프램 중앙에 광섬유 Fabry-Perot 간섭계를 부착하여 광섬유의 스트레인 광학 효과를 이용하게 구성한 압력센서 1개를 센서 시스템에 연결하여 간섭형 광섬유 압력 센서 시스템을 구성하였다. 압력센서의 동작을 수조실험에서 확인함으로써 압력의 원격 측정이 가능함을 보였으며, 수조 실험의 길과 2 m의 측정범위에서 오차는 ${\pm}3.6\;cm$이내인 것으로 나타났다.

광섬유를 이용한 컬러TV신호 3채널의 주파수 분할 다중 전송시험

  • Frequency division multiplexed 3ch. Color TV signals have been transmitted via optical fiber by employing $1. 3\mum$ InGaAsP DH-laser diode, graded index optical fiber and Ge-APD as optical components. Overall system margin of 20 dB was realized at weighted SNR of more than 49 dB. With this system margin, measured DG and DP were less than 10% and $5^{\circ}$respectively. Throughout this experiment, it was confirmed that multichannel TV signals could be economically transmitted over optical fiber in short haul networks. This paper describes system outlines and hardware implementation results.

  • Described is a stabilizing circuit of the Doppler beat signal obtained by the coherence-dependent fiber-optic laser Doppler velocimeter (LDV), which employs both a self-mixing laser diode (SM-LD) and a 10m-100m long optical fiber. The stabilizing circuit maintains the SM-LD drive current at an optimum value, which gives a maximum Doppler signal during long hours.

  • A high-power Yb-doped femtosecond (fs) fiber laser at a repetition rate of 1.83 GHz is reported. By employing a 5-stage repetition rate multiplier, the repetition rate of the mode-locked master oscillator was multiplied from 57.1 MHz to 1.83 GHz. The ultrashort pulse output at 1.83 GHz was amplified in a two-stage Yb-doped fiber amplifier, leading to >100 W of fs laser output with a pulse duration of 290 fs. The theoretical pulse width along the fiber was simulated, showing that it was in good agreement with experimental results. Further improvement in power scaling is discussed.
