  • In this paper, a 1.5V CMOS high frequency operational amplifier for high frequency signal processing systems is presented. For obtaining the high gain and the high unity gain frequency with the 1.5V supply voltage, the op-amp is designed with simple two stages which are consisting of the rail-to-rail differential input stage and the class-AB output stage. The designed op-amp operates with the 1.5V supply voltage, and shows well the push-pull class-AB operation. The simulation results show the DC open loop gain of 77dB and the unity gain frequency of 100MHz for the 1㏁ ┃ 10pF load. When the resistive load R$_1$. is varied from 1㏁ to 1 ㏀, the DC open loop gain decreases by only 4dB.

A Design of LC-tuned Sinusoidal VCOs Using OTA-C Active Inductors

  • Sinusoidal voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) based on Colpitts and Hartley oscillators are presented. They consist of a LC parallel-tuned circuit connected in a negative-feedback loop with an OTA-R amplifier and two diode limiters, where the inductor is simulated one realized with temperature-stable linear operational transconductance amplifiers (OTAs) and a grounded capacitor. Prototype VCOs are built with discrete components. The Colpitts VCO exhibits less than 1% nonlinearity in its current-to-frequency transfer characteristic from 4.2 to 21.7 MHz and ${\pm}$95 ppm/$^{\circ}C$ temperature drift of frequency over 0 to $70^{\circ}C$. The total harmonic distortion (THD) is as low as 2.92% with a peak-to-peak amplitude of 0.7 V for a frequency-tuning range of 10.8-32 MHz. The Hartley VCO has the temperature drift and THD of two times higher than those of the Colpitts VCO.

  • This paper introduces a voltage-mode biquadratic circuit using only Operational Amplifiers (OTAs) and Operational Transconductance Amplifiers (OTAs). The proposed circuit can realize low-pass, band-pass, high-pass, band-stop and all-pass transfer functions by suitably choosing the input and output terminals. And the circuit characteristics can be electronically tuned through adjusting the transconductance gains of OTAs. Some examples are given together with simulated results by PSpice. The circuit configuration is very suitable for implementation in both bipolar and CMOS technologies.

연산 증폭기의 능동보상에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Active Compensation of Operational Amplifier)

  • 연산 증폭기의 능동 보상은 주파수의 증가에 따라 연산 증폭기의 위상천이와 이득의 감소를 보상한 것으로 이 결과를 VCVS와 번전 적분기에 적용하였다. VCVS의 경우 제안된 보상회로의 위상천이는 주파수에 無關하고 보상회로의 궤환저항의 比에 따라서 Soliman에 의해 제안된 보상회로보다 이득특성이 개선되며 Voltage-follower의 경우도 동일한 보상회로로서 주파수에 無關하게 위상이 보상되고 이득특성 또한 개선되었다. 그밖에 반전 적분기에서 Q-factor를 더욱 증가시키는 보상회로도 제시하였다.

  • In sensor signal conditioning and processing, offset and drift characteristics of an operational amplifier are an important factor when the amplifier is used for a precise sensor signal amplifier. In order to use it in high accuracy, an expensive trimming or a complex compensation circuit is required. This paper presents the improved sensor signal conditioning and processing device for ubiquitous sensor network(USN) application or general purpose by developing a hardware of the circuit for reducing the offset voltage and drift characteristics, and a software for its control and sensor signal processing. We realize better offset voltage and drift characteristics of the signal conditioning circuit using low cost operational amplifiers. The experimental results show that this technique is effective in improving the performance of the sensor signal processing device.

  • This paper presents a synthesis procedure of multi-channel active filters, which realizes an arbitrary N*N matrix of real rational functions in the complex variable s as a voltage transfer matrix. The resultant network reveals a transformerless grounded active RC(2N+1)-terminal network. The active network is consisted of six 2N-port RC networks with 2N single-ended operational amplifiers.

전동차 출입문 구동을 위한 SRM용 C-dump 컨버터 Topology 특성 비교 (Characteristic Analysis of C-dump Converter Topology for SRM of Electric Multiple Unit Door Driving)

  • The speed at which the SRM (Switched Reluctance Motor) makes a transition from chopping control to single pulse operation. (i.e., low speed to high speed operation). It is unsatisfied with performance at all operational regimes. In this paper, the operational performance of SRM can be improved by using current hysteresis control method. This method maintains a generally flat current waveform. At the high speed, the current chopping capability is lost due to the development of the back-EMF. Therefore SRM operates in single pulse mode. By using zero-current switching and zero-voltage switching technique, the stress of power switches can be reduce in chopping mode. When the commutation from one phase winding to another phase winding, the current can be zero as fast as possible in this period because several times negative voltage of DC-source voltage produce in phase winding. This paper is compared to performance based on energy efficient C-dump converter topology and the proposed resonant C-dump converter topology. Simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed circuit.

  • 본 논문에서는 단일 스위치를 사용한 LC 직렬 공진형 부스트 컨버터를 제안하였다. 제안하는 토폴로지는 별도의 보조 스위치의 추가 없이 일반 부스트 컨버터에 수동소자만을 추가하여 스위치 턴-온, 턴-오프 시 영전압 스위칭(ZVS; Zero Voltage Switching)을 수행한다. 이 토폴로지는 LC직렬 공진에 의해 스위치 오프 타임이 결정되므로, 스위치 온 타임을 가변하여 출력전압을 조절하는 온 타임 가변형 주파수 변조 기법으로 제어된다. 전류 도통 경로에 따라 제안된 회로의 동작 모드를 구분하였고, 제안된 컨버터의 동작모드와 특성은 수학적 해석과 시뮬레이션 및 실험을 통해서 검증하였다.

  • A novel two-switch active clamp forward converter suitable for high input voltage applications is proposed. The main advantage of the proposed converter, compared to the conventional active forward converters, is that circuit complexity is reduced and the voltage stress of the main switches is effectively clamped to either the input voltage or the clamping capacitor voltage by two clamping diodes without limiting the maximum duty ratio. Also, the clamping circuit does not include additional active switches, so a low cost can be achieved without degrading the efficiency. Therefore, the proposed converter can feature high efficiency and low cost for high input voltage applications. The operational principles, features, and design considerations of the proposed converter are presented in this paper. The validity of this study is confirmed by the experimental results from a prototype with 200W, 375V input, and 12V output.

전압-제어 CMOS OTA와 이를 이용한 동조 여파기 설계 (A Design of Voltage-Controlled CMOS OTA and Its Application to Tunable Filters)

  • A voltage controlled CMOS operational transconductance amplifier (OTA), whose transconductance is directly proportional to the DC bias voltage, has been designed for many electronic circuit applications. It consists of a differential pair and three ourrent mirrors. The SPICE simulation shows that the conversion sensitivity of the OTA is 41.817 \ulcornerho/V and the linearity error is less than 0.402% over a bias voltage range from -2. OV to 1. OV. Electrically tunalble filters based on voltage controlled impedances, which are realized with OTA's, also have been designed. The SPICE simulation shows that a second-order bandpass filter, whose center frequency is 23KHz at -1. OV, has the conversion sensitivity 6.6KHz/V and the linearity error less than 0.822% over a voltage range from -2.OV tp 1.OV, Tne OTA has been laid out with the 3\ulcorner n-well CMOS design rule adopted in ISRC (inter-university semiconductor research center). The chip size was about $0.756x0.945mm^2$.
