Safety Management in Norwegian Fish Farming: Current Status, Challenges, and Further Improvements

  • Background: Safety management is required to ensure health and safety of personnel in Norwegian fish farming. However, few studies have addressed the status and practical relevance of this risk-reducing measure. Methods: This article provides new knowledge through interviews with 35 employees at different company levels, addressing perceptions of various safety management activities according to managers and operational personnel. Results: The interviews show that managers and operational personnel at fish farms agree that the quantity of measures aimed to improve safety has increased in recent years. However, some activities are perceived to have higher practical relevance than others. In general, measures that fit well with the practical reality are well received by the employees at the fish farms. Conclusion: Suggested improvements include involving operational personnel in the design of procedures, considering all risk dimensions that may affect occupational health and safety, and challenging the value of specific safety activities based on a detailed knowledge of the distinctive characteristics of work practice in fish farming.

가스 배관내 가스 컨덴세이트의 발생 시작점 및 발생량 예측을 위한 통계 모델 연구 (A Statistical Model for Predicting Incipient Point and Quantity of Gas Condensate in Gas Pipelines)

  • 가스 소비의 급증으로 천연가스의 수송수단인 배관의 역할이 증가하고 있다. 일반적으로 배관으로 가스를 수송할 경우, 주로 컨덴세이트 형성에 기인하는 일부 액체가 관내에 형성되어 가스 산업현장에서 복잡한 조업 상의 문제점을 발생시킨다. 그러므로, 가스 컨덴세이트의 존재가 조업 효율에 미치는 영향을 예측할 수 있는 적절한 방법이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 통합된 단상/2상 유동개념을 사용하여 가스 컨덴세이트의 발생 시작점과 그 발생량의 영향이 출구 압력에 미치는 영향을 분석할 수 있는 통계 모델을 개발하였다. 또한 컨덴세이트 발생 시작점 이후, 2상 유동지역에서 유동형태의 변화가 출구 압력에 미치는 영향도 분석되었다.

우리나라 농촌아동(農村兒童)의 발달단계별(發達段階別) 보존(保存)개념 (Conservation Concept Among Rural Children in Korea)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out conservation concept acquisition in children of pre-operational and concrete periods. The data in this study were obtained through experimental methods with 62 children(28 males and 34 females) of 3-11 ages in Korean rural areas. The Piagetian instruments devised by Gelman were used for the study ; length, liquid, quantity, mass, and volume conservation tasks. Percentile and $x^2$-test were applied for the statistical analysis of data: and the results of the experiment are as follows: 1) Most children aged 3-9 years did not appear to understand that the length of sticks stayed the same regardless of position. 2) In liquid quantity conservation, children centered their attentions on one aspect ; juice level or number of container. Their conservation concept was developed correlating with ages. 3) In the experiment of mass conservation by using play dough, only 7.1% of children of pre-operational period and 47.1% of concrete period affirmed that the amounts of play dough were same after changed shape. 4) In volume task, 29.4% children aged 7 to 11 years admitted to conservation. 5) It is found that girls acquired length conservation earlier than boys, while there was no significant difference between boys and girls in other conservation tasks.

  • With steady increase in the demand for door-to-door delivery services, courier service providers are facing a constant pressure to reduce delivery price in order to secure quantity order and to improve the efficiency and reliability for customer service. The objective of this research is to explain the structure of the door-to-door delivery including door-to-door delivery service demand, sorting capacity in the hub-terminal, and the system performance measures such as service reliability networks using causal loop diagram(CLD). Based on causal relation, this research describes a comprehensive approach to examine how capacity reliability contributes to the renewal of the firm's competences through its reciprocal relationship with travel time reliability and connectivity reliability. Also, this research suggests the policy alternatives to improve effectiveness and efficiency of door-to-door delivery network in response to increase customer satisfaction and profit maximization of the courier service providers: operational, tactical, and strategic levels.

  • This paper presents an efficient operational technique of material feeding process, trainning for multi-operations, machine conditions, and role of foreman and material-supplying man, for constructing the flexible assembly cells in the domestic electronic industries. And an practical method for computing the number of economical cells is also presented by the cost-effective model that compares the additional assembly machine requirement with the four reductive effects including WIP/finished goods inventory, the troubles in the assembly line, the opportunity loss for small order quantity, and amounts of production management due to the introduction of cell line. An case study is introduced in for a domestic electronic assembly line at the end.

자금제약하에서의 소모성 동시조달부품의 최적구매량 결정 (Optimal Provisioning Quantity Determination of Consumable Concurrent Spare Part under the Fund Limitation)

  • In this paper, the consumable concurred spare parts requirement determination problem of newly procured equipment systems is considered. The problem is formulated as the operational availability maximization problem with any given fund limitation. the that the failure of a part follows a Poisson process and part failure rate is constant in spite of the decrease of number of equipments during operational period, an analytical method is developed to obtain spare part requirements using the generalized Lagrange multipliers method, The numerical examples show that analytic solution is mostly equal to the realistic solution obtained from simulation regardless of assumptions about part failure rate. It is expected that the analytical method developed in the paper can be effectively used to make a budget for provisioning the concurrent spare parts of newly procured equipment system.

연안어업 생산성에 관한 실증연구 (An Empirical Analysis on the Productivity of Coastal Fishery)

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the productivity of the costal fisheries in Jeonnam Province. In this study, the operational characteristics and Cobb-Douglas production function of coastal fisheries were examined based on a research on the actual condition of costal fisheries (RACF). The statistical analysis of RACF data reveals that Cobb-Douglas production function consists of the three variables: fishing quantity per ton-age, the number of fisherman per ton-age and fishing equipment cost per ton-age. The results of this study show us that the relation and productivity between labor and capital of the operational equipment in the coastal fisheries. If extensive comparable biological and market data become available, analysis model can be widely applied to yield more accurate results.

  • In this paper determined is the quantity of repairable concurrent spare parts(CSP) of a new equipment system to maximize the operational availability under budget constraint and cannibalization allowed. When a part fails, the part is replaced and the failed part is repaired for later use while cannibalization is allowed. The failure of a part is assumed to follow a Poisson process and the availability in CSP is defined. The solution procedure consists of two parts. Firstly, a mathematical model is developed under the assumption that the failure rate is constant during the CSP period and cannibalization is not allowed. Secondly, proposed is a simulation search procedure which improves the heuristic solution to the near optimal solution in a reasonable amount of time under the assumption that the cannibalization is allowed.

Optimal Operation for Green Supply Chain Considering Demand Information, Collection Incentive and Quality of Recycling Parts

  • This study proposes an optimal operational policy for a green supply chain (GSC) where a retailer pays an incentive for collection of used products from customers and determines the optimal order quantity of a single product under uncertainty in product demand. A manufacturer produces the optimal order quantity of product using recyclable parts with acceptable quality levels and covers a part of the retailer's incentive from the recycled parts. Here, two scenarios for the product demand are assumed as: the distribution of product demand is known, and only both mean and variance are known. This paper develops mathematical models to find how order quantity, collection incentive of used products and lower limit of quality level for recycling affect the expected profits of each member and the whole supply chain under both a decentralized GSC (DGSC) and an integrated GSC (IGSC). The analysis numerically compares the results under DGSC with those under IGSC for each scenario of product demand. Also, the effect of the quality of the recyclable parts on the optimal decisions is shown. Moreover, supply chain coordination to shift the optimal decisions of IGSC is discussed based on: I) profit ratio, II) Nash bargaining solution, and III) Combination of (I) and (II).

유도무기 시스템의 운용 신뢰도 분석 (Operational Reliability Analysis of Guided Weapon Systems)

  • 유도무기체계는 어떤 장비보다도 신뢰성이 가장 중요시 된다. 그러나 제작비용이 고가여서 생산수량이 적고, 배치 후 운용 데이터 획득까지 장기간이 소요되어 주로 개발단계의 신뢰성 예측자료가 활용된다. 개발단계의 신뢰성 예측은 실제 운용환경을 모두 반영하는데 한계가 있어 실제 운용환경에서의 신뢰성 분석이 필요하였다. 본 연구에서는 국내개발 유도무기에 대한 실제 운용 데이터를 활용하여 수명분포를 추정하고, 최소제곱법과 최우추정법을 적용하여 신뢰도 값을 추정하였다. 또한, 개발단계에서 예측된 신뢰도 값과 실제 운용신뢰도 값을 비교하였다. 본 연구 결과로 볼 때 실제 유도무기의 신뢰도는 예측된 값보다 높게 나타났으며, 이는 최신 설계기술의 적용 및 향상된 부품의 신뢰도 값이 예측 데이터에 반영되지 못한 것으로 판단된다. 본 연구를 통해 국내개발 유도무기에 대한 실제 운용 신뢰도를 확인할 수 있었으며, 향후 개발될 유도무기의 신뢰도 분석 연구 활동에 기여 할 것으로 기대된다.
