  • An algorithm is developed that enables a single-phase matrix converter (SPMC) to perform functions of a generalized single phase power electronics converter such as acting as a frequency changer, rectifier, inverter, and chopper. This reduces the need for new converter hardware. The algorithm is implemented first on computer simulation software Orcad Capture CIS version 9.1. Simulation results are presented for five types of converters with a control input variable that decides the 1) type of converter and 2) type of output waveform. The simulated results verify the working and operation of a generalized converter based on SPMC. Simulated results are verified with experimental results. Hardware design is obtained using readily available ICs and other components. The trigger circuit has been tested qualitatively by observing waveforms on CRO. The operation of the proposed system has been found to be satisfactory.

  • In this work the Dynamic Matrix Control method is applied to control the grade change operations in paper mills. Paper process trained by neural network regards a real-plant. The model obtained with operation data is used to achieve DMC. Results of simulations for DMC control of grade change operations are compared with plant operation data response. From the comparison, we can see that the proposed DMC method exhibits faster response for the grade change of paper and achieves stable steady-state.

  • Self Organizing Map (SOM) is a neural network that is effective in classifying patterns that form the feature map by extracting characteristics of the input data. In this study, we propose an algorithm to determine the cell formation and the machine layout within the cell for the cell formation problem with operation sequence using the SOM. In the proposed algorithm, the output layer of the SOM is a one-dimensional structure, and the SOM is applied to the parts and the machine in two steps. The initial cell is formed when the formed clusters is grouped largely by the utilization of the machine within the cell. At this stage, machine cell are formed. The next step is to create a flow matrix of the all machine that calculates the frequency of consecutive forward movement for the machine. The machine layout order in each machine cell is determined based on this flow matrix so that the machine operation sequence is most reflected. The final step is to optimize the overall machine and parts to increase machine layout efficiency. As a result, the final cell is formed and the machine layout within the cell is determined. The proposed algorithm was tested on well-known cell formation problems with operation sequence shown in previous papers. The proposed algorithm has better performance than the other algorithms.

  • Exceptional Elements(E.E) are generally eliminated by a machine duplication or a subcontract in cellular manufacturing system. One of the advantages in FMS consists of machines capable of multi-processing. This paper presents a method that eliminates E.Es by tool duplication. First, we develop the exceptional operation similarity(EOS) by machine cell-operation incidence matrix and part-operation incidence matrix. The EOS indicates a similarity of unperformable operations in each part when two exceptional parts are assigned to a machine cell. Secondly, a mathematical model to minimize tool duplication is developed by the EOS. Finally, a heuristic algorithm is developed to reflect dynamic situation in process of elimination of exceptional elements by the EOS and the mathematical model. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the algorithm.

  • In designing the controller by changing the weighting matrix for the pirpose of satisfying constraints, the physical meaning of weighting matrix may disapperar and the system may not yield best performance because operation condition such as periodic disturbance was not considered. In this paper, the weighting matrix is fixed and controller is designed to minimize the new performance index to reduce the effects of periodic-type disturbances. This method is applied to design the satellite controller to verify the effetiveness.

  • An optimal control approach to robust control design is proposed in this study for rigid robotic systems under the unknown load and the other uncertainties. The uncertainties are quadratically bounded for some positive definite matrix. Iterative method to find the matrix is shown. Simulations arc made for a weight-lifting operation of a two-link manipulator and the robust control performance of robotic systems by the proposed algorithm is remarkable.

  • This paper is aimed at proposing a new inference mechanism for B-to-B electronic commerce decision-makings, named IMITAO(Integer Matrix-driven Inference based on Transformed And-Or graph) which is based on integer matrix operation to speed up the inference. During the B-to-B electronic commerce, many kinds of negotiations are needed for mutually satisfactory decision-makings. During such negotiations, several factors including subjective and objective constraints should be considered so as to reach satisfactory decisions. In this respect, we suggest first a Transformed AND-OR Graph(TAOG) which each firm's conditions or judgement are incorporated into, and then we propose a high-speedy inference mechanism named IMITAO which basically depends on TAOG. Firms engaged in B-to-B negotiations on the Internet can get an appropriate decision support from using IMITAO for their negotiation simulations. The proposed IMITAO inference mechanism is characterized by its fast inference because its main inference procedures are based on integer matrix operation. A real-world example for B-to-B negotiations was used to prove the validity of our proposed TAOG and IMITAO approach. Experimental results showed that our approach was very useful in performing the B-to-B electronic commerce decision-makings considering a wide variety of either subjective or objective constraints.

  • This paper describes the pixel of AMOLED(act ive matrix organic light emitting diode) driving circuit by poly-sl technology. The area per pixel is 278um$\times$278um in 120$\times$160(2.2 inch) Driving the OLEDS with active matrix leads to the lower voltage operation, the lower peak pixel currents and the display with much greater efficiency and brightness The role of the active matrix is to provide a constant current throughout the entire frame time and is eliminating the high currents encountered In the passive matrix approach, This design can support the high resolutions expected by the consumer because the current variation specification is norestricted. The pixel has been designed driving TFT threshold voltage cancellation circuit and wide aperture ratio circuit that communizes 4 pixel. The test simulation results and layout are 11% per threshold-current var Eat ion and 12.5% the aperture ratio of increase.
