  • Due to the highly concentrated power plants integrated through the limited transmission lines in Korea, a Special Protection System(SPS) has been applied to stabilize the power systems by instantly tripping the pre-determined generators in a large-scaled power plant when a fault occurs on the drawing transmission lines. Moreover, power outputs of those generators are constrained to avoid any activation of Under Frequency Load Shedding(UFLS) even after those generators are tripped by SPS action. For this, this paper proposes a method for calculating the required capacity of Energy Storage System(ESS) expected to relieve the operating constraints to generators using its fast response for controlling power system frequency. The proposed method uses the generator acceleration energy to derive the stable condition during the SPS action. In addition, its effectiveness is verified by the case studies adopting actual SPS operations in Korean power systems.

  • This study aims to make a revitalizing plan for managing and maintaining of facilities which were installed after the rural development projects. The survey was conducted to examine some issues of operating facilities from the developing plan. There were some factors that should be considered in the establishment stage of the project plan when promoting rural development projects. Among them, the preservation and maintenance of rurality, consistency with business plans, connectivity with local resources, and ease of maintenance were less reflective than its importance. And for each facility, systematic consulting on appropriate scale and operational management plans and detailed planning is needed.. It's also necessary to plan action so that the local community can lead. The current or future rural development project will be succeeded when local governments support to strengthening their local groups or people's abilities.

  • The development of SNS and video platforms provided an opportunity to explode the activation of content production and consumption. However, in the legacy system, due to the host-based location-oriented data transmission, there are inherent limitations in efficient operation and management. As an alternative to this, a Contents Centric Network (CCN) was studied. In this paper, when intermediate nodes located between the information provider and the information requester between the real-time streaming services in the CCN environment move or restrict their use, failure through monitoring of wireless reception strength to solve problems like disconnection of transmission quality at the information consumer. We propose a stable intermediate node management mechanism through active response before occurrence.

  • Physical exercise, especially intense exercise and high intensity interval training (HIIT) by trampoline, can lead to muscle injuries. These effects can be reduced with intelligent products made of nanocomposite materials. Most of these nanocomposites are polymers reinforced with silicon dioxide, alumina, and titanium dioxide nanoparticles. This study presents a polymer nanocomposite reinforced with silica. As a result of the rapid reaction between tetraethyl orthosilicate and ammonia in the presence of citric acid and other agents, silica nanostructures were synthesized. By substituting bis (4-amino phenoxy) phenyl-triptycene in N, N-dimethylformamide with potassium carbonate, followed by catalytic reduction with hydrazine and Pd/C, the diamine monomer bis (4-amino phenoxy) phenyl-triptycene is prepared. We synthesized a new polyaromatic (imide) with triptycene unit by sol-gel method from aromatic diamines and dianhydride using pyridine as a condensation reagent in NMP. PI readily dissolves in solvents and forms robust and tough polymer films in situ. The FTIR and NMR techniques were used to determine the effects of SiO2 on the sol-gel process and the structure of the synthesized nanocomposites. By using a simultaneous thermal analysis (DTA-TG) method, the appropriate thermal operation temperature was also determined. Through SEM analysis, the structure, shape, size, and specific surface area of pores were determined. Analysis of XRD results is used to determine how SiO2 affects the crystallization of phases and the activation energy of crystallization.

  • Where concrete structures are designed to have a service life of over 100 years, their performance must be monitored, for the prediction models available are fraught with uncertainties that need to be eliminated. The present study was conducted to meet that need by monitoring a pilot structure for low and intermediate radioactive waste storage. Long-term operation of the sensors was observed to be adequate to determine the value of the parameters that characterise structural durability, such as corrosion current density. The parameters analysed were correlated to calculate their reciprocal impact: where applied in conjunction with artificial intelligence tools, temperature, for instance, was found suitable for finding activation energy and expansion coefficients and detecting outliers. The results showed the pilot structure to perform satisfactorily.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to identify the difference in the quality of muscle contraction and kick movements according to the presence or absence of back pain in body kick movements of mixed martial arts athletes. Method: In this study, four athletes (32.75 ± 4.79 yrs, 172.50 ± 5.20 cm, 77.73 ± 13.28 kg) who have suffered chronic back pain for more than three months and scored 12 points in the Korean version of ODI. Four painless athletes (33.50 ± 4.04 yrs, 174.25 ± 3.10 cm, 83.50 ± 10.21 kg) participated. Results: During the body kick operation, the pain group had significantly higher muscle activity in the right Transversus abdominis and right Rectus femoris compared to the normal group (p<.05). In the rectus abdominis, the muscle activity was significantly lower than that of the normal group (p<.05). Also, the pain group has a higher toe speed than the normal group Significantly slow (p<.05), there was a delay in contraction of the Transversus abdominis. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that chronic pain in the lumbar spine degrades the core's function, resulting in inefficient coordination such as Transversus abdominis contraction delay and Transversus abdominis and Rectus femoris excessive activation to compensate for it.

  • Load variations reduce the lifespan of polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs). To analyze the impact of load variations on durability of PEFCs, two stacks were built and operated continuously for 400 hours, one under load variations and the other under constant current condition with the same energy output. Using the example model provided by Mathworks, we obtained load variation data for the experiments. The performance curves were measured every 100 hours and analyzed by current interruption method and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The degradation comparison shows a much larger decrease in performance under the load variation. The activation resistance, electrical resistance, and mass transfer resistance are all found to increase more.

  • Some formulae have been derived for the handy calculation of the formation of radioisotope when a reactor is operated regularly on a usual on-off pattern. In particular, the case of isotope production with the present operation condition of tile Korean reactor, which is in operation for 8.2 hours from Monday to Thursday and is not operated on friday and Sunday but is back in operation on Saturday only for 3.2 hours, is discussed herein with special emphasis. Should there be no secondary nuclear reaction resulting in the transformation of produced nuclide, the formula for the calculation of its activity could be derived as follows: (equation omitted) where A: activity (dps), $\Phi$: neutron flux (n cm$^{-2}$ sec$^{-1}$ ), No : number of atoms before the irradiation, $\sigma$ : activation cross section ($\textrm{cm}^2$), λ : disintegration constant of the radioactiveisotope formed (hr$^{-1}$ ), t : elapsed time of target in the reactor (hr), n : number of elasped days of target in the reactor, m : number of days from the first day of sample irradiation to Friday, s, r, q: number of weekday of Friday, Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Since the above formula consists of many invariables on the whole, the activity of each radioisotope to be produced can he easily and conveniently made available from the chart in advance which is made of the invariable terms calculated.

  • Twenty years have passed since the adoption of natural recreation forests and each forest has its own characteristics. However, there is hardly any classification among the natural recreation forests. The purpose of this study is to classify the forests by considering the supplier's perspective as well as the user's perspective in order to provide fundamental materials for the operation of the natural recreation forests. A factor analysis was conducted to identify the common characteristics of the selected twelve variables by pre-selection and survey of experts. K-means cluster analysis was conducted among those factors to classify the natural recreation forests in Korea. Four factors were drawn after the factor analysis and the factors were named according to the variables and sizes as 'The use performance and visiting condition factor', 'Education and settlement factor', 'Internal activation factor' and 'Potential factor' In addition, the cluster analysis of an $85{\times}4$ matrix was conducted for the points of the drawn factors and the final classification consists of five groups. The results of this study may contribute to providing fundamental materials for the operation and management of natural recreation forests. Also, it may act as a reference when investigating the natural recreation forests of Korea. Proposing the classification natural recreation forests could be helpful in selecting the proper recreation forest in the future. Based on the established model, fundamental materials could be provided to improve the profitability of the natural recreation forests by effectively expanding the number of tourists, creating new natural recreation forests and proper maintenance and management.
