Development of a System for Hybrid Environmental Control in the Multi-Greenhouses (다동온실의 복합환경 제어를 위한 시스템 개발)

  • A Hardware system of hybrid environmental control was developed for using it in the multi-greenhouse. Now, an on/off control system is most utilized in protected cultivation, but a hybrid environmental control system is not yet. This system consists of a hardware to be devided by physical elements and a software for the hardware a personal computer, a hybrid environmental control and a communication Program for modules. The hardware was made of several independent modules with independent CPU. Each module was made to slots. which are very convenient to mount and take off. Also, they are managed easily to repair, add, remove, and change of their function and expansion. The software for a personal computer was a menu driven program written in visual basic within a Windows environment for easy applications by a user. The hybrid environmental control software have operating factors operate continuously with temperature, humidity and others in greenhouse. Communication programs were used both 485 communication method for long distance communication between modules and CRC communication method for making easy to program, and less errors between personal computer and modules.

STUDY ON THE PREVENTION METHOD FOR HEAT ACCUMULATION FOR PERSONAL RAPID TRANSIT (PRT) VEHICLE UNDER BODY (PRT 차량하부 열부하 저감방안 도출 연구)

  • Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) is the emerging personal transport vehicle operating on the loop automatically. The PRT system utilize the electrical power from super capacity or battery, it is important to manage the power or energy. In this regards, the management of high temperature occurred by the operation of system is significantly important to prevent from serious damage of component. In this study, we studied the adequate shape of underbody which can reduce the heat accumulation by pickup coil and condenser using natural air cooling. We suggested the additional air pathway, air inlet and flow separator to decrease the temperature of the heat source components. It was found that suggested system can decrease the temperature of PRT under body by 16% during the static mode and by 10% during the running mode at 30km/h. It is expected that the findings of this study will feed into final design of newly built Korean PRT vehicle.

A study on the implementation and performance evaluation of low-power ZigBee sensor in the M2M gateway system (M2M Gateway 시스템을 위한 저전력 지그비 센서 구현 및 성능평가에 관한 연구)

  • This paper describes the implementation of a ZigBee sensor node that can be utilized as a multiband and machine to machine (M2M) communication gateway. The IEEE 802.15.4-2003 standard was used as the wireless network frequency band. Ember's Type EM357 SoC was used as the transmission and reception device to perform the communication function, and it was also used for both the main M2M gateway and the sensor node. For the implementation of the operating protocol, EmberZNet Stack 4.5.4 from the Ember Corporation was used. The measurement of the reception sensitivity in the receiving module and the actual output signal from the reference were obtained from the transmission of a packet, and the packet included the M2M gateway within the attached ZigBee sensor. The packet error rate was measured as 0% with a -98 dBm reception sensitivity at the ZigBee frequency. In addition, excellent current characteristics of the ZigBee modules were shown by the implementation of the low-power circuit.

  • In this paper, we proposed a RTOS-based lighting control system to improve energy efficiency. This proposed system, real time process was designed to the specified division of the LED streetlight control module for the RTOS-based lighting control into three different tasks. The first task transmits LED lighting signal by measuring illuminance, and the second task transmits motion detecting signal using motion detector. In the third task, lighting control to LED was designed through passed control signal from other tasks The execution status was examined ports that are directly to the ATmega128 MCU for the verification of the system, and illuminance distribution and operating conditions were verified through LED street field test. The proposed RTOS-based lighting control system has brought improving system performance and also facilitate an addition of other functions, and it was possible to optimize energy saving by intelligent lighting pattern control.

  • This paper presents the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and signal-to-interference plus noise ratio (SINR) estimation based on A-Preamble of IEEE 802.16m IMT-Advanced WiMax system with simulation results. The downlink signal of IEEE 802.16m has two kinds of A-Preambles: the PA-Preamble and the SA-Preamble. This paper proposes the effective method of estimating SNR and SINR with A-Preambles, and also shows that this method can recognize the ICI(Inter-Carrier-Interference) occurrence due to doppler frequency. With the recognition of ICI, the mobile station can save the power by operating 1-tap equalizer in usual cases, and activating ICI mitigation module only when it perceives the ICI occurrence.

  • Fuel injection pressure has steadily increased in diesel engines for the purpose of improving fuel efficiency and cleaning exhaust gas, but it has now reached a point, where the cost for higher pressure does not warrant additional gains. Common rail systems on modern diesel engines have fuel pumps that are mechanically driven by crankshaft. The pumps actually house two pumping module inside: a low pressure pump component and a high pressure pump component. Part of the fuel compressed by the low pressure component returns to the tank in the process of maintaining the pressure in the common rail. Since the returning fuel represents pumping loss, fuel economy improves if the returned fuel can be eliminated by using a properly controled electrical fuel pump. As the first step in developing an electrical fuel pump the fuel supply system on a 6 liter diesel engine was modeled with AMESim to analyze the workload and the fuel feed rate of the injection pump, and the results served as basis for selecting a suitable servo motor and a reducer to drive the pump. A motor controller was built using a DSP and a program which controls the common rail pressure using a proportional control method based on the target fuel pressure information from the engine ECU. A test rig to evaluate performance of the fuel pump is implemented and used to show that the newly developed electrically driven fuel pump can satisfy the fuel flow demand of the engine under various operating conditions when the rotational speed of the pump is adequately controlled.

Study on the Removal of Water Vapor Using PEI/PEBAX Composite Hollow Fiber Membrane (PEI/PEBAX 복합 중공사 막을 이용한 수분 제거에 관한 연구)

  • In this research, PEI/PEBAX composite hollow fiber membrane was used for the removal of water vapor from gases. PEI (Polyetherimide) substrate membrane was spinned by dry-wet phase inversion method and coated with PEBAX (Polyether block amides) 3533 and PEBAX1657. Fabricated fibers typically had an asymmetric structure of a dense top layer supported by a sponge-like substructure through scanning electron microscopy (SEM). $H_2O/N_2$ mixture gas was used to compare the performance of separation according to temperature, pressure and water activity. The results of PEBAX3533 and PEBAX1657 composite membranes respectively showed $H_2O/N_2$ selectivity of 61.7~118.5 and 85.3~175.4 according to operating conditions. PEBAX3533 composite hollow fiber membranes module showed the water vapor removal of 90%.

Linearity Enhancement of RF Power Amplifier Using Digital Predistortion with Tanh as a Nonlinear Indexing Function (비선형 인덱싱 함수 Tanh로 구현한 디지털 전치 왜곡을 이용한 RF 전력증폭기의 선형성 향상)

  • In this paper, we design a digital predistortion(DPD) for linearity enhancement of RF power amplifier operating in 900 MHz band. We verify improvement of linearity by comparing the proposed DPD using tanh as a nonlinear indexing function and the DPD using linear indexing function based on signal amplitude. The digital predistortion is realized by look-up table(LUT) method, and the Saleh model is employed for power amplifier modeling, then a commercial power amplifier module is used for measurement. The LUT has 256 tables, and the NLMS(Normalized Least Mean Square) algorithm was utilized for an adaptive algorithm for estimation. As a result, we improve the ACLR(Adjacent Channel Leakage Ratio) by around 15 dB.

  • In this paper, we design a digitally pre-distorted RF power amplifier operating in 900 MHz band. The linearity of RF power amplifier is improved by employing the digital pre-distortion(DPD) based on affine projection(AP) algorithm, where the look-up table(LUT) method is used with non-linear indexing. The proposed DPD with AP algorithm is compared with that with normalized least mean square(NLMS) algorithm, applied to the RF power amplifier. A commercial power amplifier module is used for verification of the proposed algorithm which shows improvement of adjacent channel leakage ratio(ACLR) by about 21 dB.

User-friendly Web-based ezSIM Platform Development for SMBs (중소·중견기업을 위한 사용자 친화형 웹 기반 ezSIM 플랫폼 개발)

  • Structure and/or fluid analysis is gradually increased by an essential design process in the small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) because of the needs for a rapid design process and the certification about the supplement of the parts by the large business (LB). In this paper, we developed the web-based ezSIM platform installed in the resources integrated system server. The ezSIM platform is based on the heterogeneous linux and windows operating system for the user-friendly connection with the part of the analysis for the SMBs. The procedure of the structure/fluid analysis service module using the public software and the license-free open code in the ezSIM platform was explained. The convenience of the ezSIM platform service was presented by the reaction rate of the graphic motion compared with that of a local PC and the solving and pre-post processing interface compared with that of the KISTI supercomputer. The web-based ezSIM platform service was identified as a useful and essential platform to the SMBs for the usage of the structure and/or fluid analysis procedure.
