An Interior Point Method based Reactive Optimal Power Flow Incorporating Margin Enhancement Constraints

  • This paper describes a reactive optimal power flow incorporating margin enhancement constraints. Margin sensitivity at a steady-state voltage instability point is calculated using invariant space parametric sensitivity, and it can provide valuable information for selection of effective control parameters. However, the weakest buses in neighboring regions have high margin sensitivities within a certain range. Hence, the control determination using only the sensitivity information might cause violation of operational limits of the base operating point, at which the control is applied to enhance voltage stability margin in the direction of parameter increase. This paper applies an interior point method (IPM) to solve the optimal power flow formulation with the margin enhancement constraints, and shunt capacitances are mainly considered as control variables. In addition, nonlinearity of margin enhancement with respect to control of shunt capacitance is considered for speed-up control determination in the numerical example using the IEEE 118-bus test system.

A Heuristic Application of Critical Power Ratio to Pressurized Water Reactor Core Design

  • The approach for evaluating the critical heat flux (CHF) margin using the departure from nucleate boiling ratio (DNBR) concept has been widely applied to PWR core design, while DNBR in this approach does not indicate appropriately the CHF margin in terms of the attainable power margin-to-CHF against a reactor core condition. The CHF power margin must be calculated by increasing power until the minimum DNBR reaches a DNBR limit. The Critical Power Ratio (CPR), defined as the ratio of the predicted CHF power to the operating power, is considered more reasonable for indicating the CHF margin and can be calculated by a CPR orrelation based on the heat balance of a test bundle. This approach yields directly the CHF power margin, but the calculated CPR must be corrected to compensate for many local effects of the actual core, which are not considered in the CHF test and analysis. In this paper, correction of the calculated CPR is made so that it may become equal to the DNB overpower margin. Exemplary calculations showed that the correction tends to be increased as power distribution is more distorted, but are not unduly large.

  • 회로 시뮬레이터를 이용하는 DC 셀 노드전압 분석방법을 적용하여, 고저항 SRAM 셀 구조에서 기생저항들과 트랜지스터 비대칭에 의해 야기되는 정적 읽기동작에서의 동작마진을 조사하였다. 이상적인 셀에 기생저항을 선택적으로 추가함으로써 각 기생저항들이 동작 마진에 끼치는 영향을 조사한 뒤, 기생저항이 좌우대칭 쌍으로 존재하는 경우에 대해 조사하고, 또한 셀 트랜지스터의 채널폭을 선택적으로 변화시켜 트랜지스터의 비대칭을 야기시킴으로써 트랜지스터 비대칭에 의한 동작 마진의 저하를 분석하였다. 분석 방법은 시뮬레이션된 셀 노드전압 특성에서 두 셀 노드전압이 하나의 값으로 수렴되는 전원전압의 값과 $V_{DD}=5V$에서 셀 노드전압의 차를 비교함으로써 상대적인 동작 마진을 비교하는 방법을 사용하였다. 회로 시뮬레이션에 의존한 본 분석으로부터 셀의 정적 읽기동작에 가장 심각한 영향을 끼치는 기생저항 성분과 트랜지스터의 비대칭 형태를 규명함으로써 새로운 셀 구조 설계시 참고할 수 있는 기준을 제시하였다.

전력시스템 안전도 향상을 위한 다기 UPFC의 최적 운전점 결정 (The Optimal Operating Points of Multiple UPFCs for Enhancing Power System Security Level)

  • This paper presents how to determine the optimal operating points of Unified Power Flow controllers (UPFC) the line flow control of which can enhance system security level. In order to analyze the effect of these devices on the power system, the decoupled model has been employed as a mathematical model of UPFC for power flow analysis. The security index that indicates the level of congestion of transmission line has been proposed and minimized by iterative method. The sensitivity of objective function for control variables of and UPFC has been derived, and it represents the change in the security index for a given set of changes in real power outputs of UPFC. The proposed algorithm with sensitivity analysis gives the optimal set of operating points of multiple UPECs that reduces the index or increases the security margin and Marquart method has been adopted as an optimization method because of stable convergence. The algorithm is verified by the 10-unit 39-bus New England system that includes multiple FACTS devices. The simulation results show that the power flow congestion can be relieved in normal state and the security margin can be guaranteed even in a fault condition by the cooperative operation of multiple UPECs.

  • This paper presents a new optimal VAR planning algorithm considering voltage stability margin. The characteristic of this method is to make it possible to formulate VAR planning for the dual purpose of maintaining voltage profiles within specified limits, and increasing the voltage stability margin of anticipated operating conditions with respect to voltage collapse. The IEEE-30 bus system is used to demonstrate the capability of the proposed algorithm.

A Study of Financial Performance using DuPont Analysis in Food Distribution Market

  • This study attempts to measure the financial performance of the food distribution company. In order to achieve the goal, this study have measured the ratios of ROE, ROA applying the DuPont analysis, which have been demonstrated with tables to show the change periodically. DuPont analysis is based on analysis of Return on Equity (ROE) & Return on Investment (ROI). The return on equity disaggregate performance into three components: Net Profit Margin, Total Asset Turnover, and the Equity Multiplier. The return on investment consists of Assets Turnover (Operating Income${\times}$Total Assets) and Profit Margin (EBIT${\times}$Operating Income). From the study it if found that Hyundae Green Food's Financial performance is high followed by Foodmerce and then Dongwon home food and Lotte Food. The four companies are significant at their level. In conclusion, ROE & ROI is the most comprehensive measure of profitability of a firm. It considers the operating and investing decisions can be made as well as the financing and their leverage-related decisions.

원심압축기의 링 그루브 효과에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Investigation of Ring Groove Effect in a Centrifugal Compressor)

  • This paper presents a numerical study of casing treatments on a centrifugal compressor stage to improve stability and the surge margin. High efficiency, a high pressure ratio, and a wide operating range are required for a high performance centrifugal compressor. In the present study, a ring groove arrangement was applied to the transonic centrifugal compressor. According to the numerical analysis using a commercial code ANSYS-CFX, the unstable phenomena limiting the range of the centrifugal compressors were compared with and without a ring groove. Although the ring groove decreased the efficiency, but increased the operating range by suppressing a flow separation at the leading-edge of the impeller especially near shroud part. Newly designed ring groove arrangement improved the compressor performance and increased the operating range of the compressor.

지방공사의료원과 민간 종합병원 간의 투자효율 및 경영성과 비교 (Comparison between Korean Regional Public Hospitals and Private non-profit General Hospitals for Investment Efficiency and Management Performance)

  • 본 연구는 종합병원으로 운영되고 있는 지방공사의료원들과 민간 비영리법인 종합병원들 간의 자본과 인력의 활용도와 경영성과를 비교하여, 지방의료원들이 재정자립을 위한 효율적이고 합리적인 생산성 제고방안을 모색하고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 분석자료는 2011년부터 2014년까지의 지방공사의료원과 민간 비영리법인 종합병원의 투자효율 산출을 위한 세부계정과목이 구분된 결산자료로, 투자효율 및 경영성과 지표는 총자본 투자효율, 생산활동에 투자된 유형고정자산 투자효율, 인건비 투자효율, 부가가치생산성, 사업수익 이익률을 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 투자효율인 총자본 투자효율, 생산활동에 투자된 유형고정자산 투자효율, 인건비 투자효율은 민간 비영리법인 종합병원이 지방공사의료원보다 유의하게 높았는데 특히 생산활동에 투자된 유형고정자산 투자효율의 차이가 매우 컸다. 그리고 경영성과에서는 지방공사의료원이 민간 비영리법인 종합병원에 비해 사업수익 부가가치율은 높은 반면에 사업수익 이익률은 유의하게 낮았다. 또한 투자효율과 부가가치생산성이 사업수익 이익률에 미치는 영향을 살펴본 결과, 지방공사의료원은 생산활동 유형고정자산 투자효율과 인건비 투자효율, 민간 비영리법인 종합병원은 인건비 투자효율이 유의하게 영향을 미쳤으며, 인건비 투자효율의 영향이 가장 컸다. 따라서 지방공사의료원들이 자립경영을 위한 생산성 제고방안으로 수익발생과 관련된 자산의 활용도, 그리고 인건비와 관련하여 인력의 활용도와 적정성에 대한 검토의 필요성이 제기된다.

A Study on Development of a Plugging Margin Evaluation Method Taking Into Account the Fouling of Shell-and-Tube Heat Exchangers

  • As the operating time of heat exchangers progresses, fouling caused by water-borne deposits and the number of plugged tubes increase and thermal performance decreases. Both fouling and tube plugging are known to interfere with normal flow characteristics and to reduce thermal efficiencies of heat exchangers. The heat exchangers of Korean nuclear power plants have been analyzed in terms of heat transfer rate and overall heat transfer coefficient as a means of heat exchanger management. Except for fouling resulting from the operation of heat exchangers, all the tubes of heat exchangers have been replaced when the number of plugged tubes exceeded the plugging criteria based on design performance sheet. This paper describes a plugging margin evaluation method taking into account the fouling of shell-and-tube heat exchangers. The method can evaluate thermal performance, estimate future fouling variation, and consider current fouling level in the calculation of plugging margin. To identify the effectiveness of the developed method, fouling and plugging margin evaluations were performed at a component cooling heat exchanger in a Korean nuclear power plant.

반응 표면 및 Monte Carlo 방법을 이용한 통계적 열여유도 분석 방법 (A Procedure for Statistical Thermal Margin Analysis Using Response Surface Method and Monte Carlo Technique)

  • 경수로심의 열 여유도를 분석하기 위하여 반응표면 및 Monte Carlo 방법을 이용하는 통계적 분석 방법이 제시되었다. 통계적인 열 여유도 분석 방법은 입력변수들의 불확실도를 확률론적으로 처리함으로써 열 여유도의 최적 평가를 수행한다. 이 방법은 원자력 1호기 정상상태의 원자로심 분석에 응용되었으며 또한 종래의 결정론적 방법 및 웨스팅하우스의 개선된 열설계 방법과도 비교되었다. 본 연구를 통하여 반응표면 분석 방법은 통계적인 열 여유도 분석에 유용함을 알 수 있었으며, 이 방법을 통한 열 여유도의 증가도 확인되었다.
