Development of Creative Convergence Education Program for Engineering College Students

  • Recently, convergence engineering is emerged technology to make a whole new conceptual methodology attractively more than we previously developed the distinct technology for engineering college students particularly. Based on convergence methodology, we utilize the open-source electronic prototyping platform named Arduino enabling users to create interactive electronic objects and the automata that is generally referred to a wooden moving, mechanical device or art of work in order to develop the creative convergence education program. We have confidence that our education program can lead the development of automata and information technology simultaneously and can nurture talented students who have creativity and originality in engineering college.

  • It is expected that an intelligent broadcasting service (IBS) will be able to provide broadcast programs based on user preference and program-associated information (metadata) in order to assist users in easy navigation of the program content being broadcast. In this way, users will be able to access program content anytime, anywhere, and in the manner they wish. This type of IBS will be a basis for future broadcasting services such as customized broadcasting or personal casting. In this paper, we introduce an agent-based multimedia broadcasting framework using the Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents (FIPA) and MPEG-7 technologies within MPEG-21. We use a FIPA implementation called FIPA open source as a platform for exchanging user preferences and program information as FIPA messages between a server and its clients. The user preference is modeled as the User Preference description scheme in MPEG-7 multimedia description schemes. We discuss a framework structure and implementation for the IBS.

Implementation of Image Semantic Segmentation on Android Device using Deep Learning (딥-러닝을 활용한 안드로이드 플랫폼에서의 이미지 시맨틱 분할 구현)

  • Image segmentation is the task of partitioning an image into multiple sets of pixels based on some characteristics. The objective is to simplify the image into a representation that is more meaningful and easier to analyze. In this paper, we apply deep-learning to pre-train the learning model, and implement an algorithm that performs image segmentation in real time by extracting frames for the stream input from the Android device. Based on the open source of DeepLab-v3+ implemented in Tensorflow, some convolution filters are modified to improve real-time operation on the Android platform.

  • Embedded linux system cann't take up the X-window-based GUI platform commonly used in PC platforms because of low performance in hardware. For the GUI implementation in embedded linux system, the lightwieight graphic library is needed, which supports simplified functions and the usage of little resource. In this paper, several of popular open-source graphic libraries are selected and evaluated for the adoption of an efficient library in the GUI implementation for multimedia embedded system requiring the simple and intuitional user interface.

  • Recent Software education topic is GUI programing language 'Scratch' and the open source computing platform plus microcontroller boards 'Arduino'. S4A means a program that controls the Arduino to the scratch.   • Increasing use of embedded systems has made many improvements on hardware development for specific purpose. Hardware changes are more expensive and harder to implement rather than software changes. Developers need tools to do design and testing of new hardware. Many simulation tools have been made to mimic the hardware and allow developer to test programs on top of new hardware. Virtual Development Environment for Embedded Software (VDEES) is one of the alternatives available. It provides an open source based platform and an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) that can be used to build and testing newly made component, faster and at low-cost.

  • In recent years, use of the web technologies and on-line process has immensely swapped single-user platform practice. This study attempted to develop preliminary cost estimating program by means of Web technologies based on statistical modeling results. A prototype Web-based Preliminary Item-Level Cost Estimating System (WBPILCES) using open source software was developed as an on-line estimating tool in this research. The primary objective is to study the possible flexibility of implementing a centralized information system that will be maintained by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) IT division. The full-scale deployment of proposed information architecture is expected to seamlessly integrate with legacy database system currently used by TxDOT so as to streamline data storage, cost growth tracking and estimates documentation.

  • 본 연구에서는 오픈소스 소프트웨어를 활용한 온라인 코딩 플랫폼의 설계 및 구현 결과에 대해서 기술하였다. 오픈소스 기술의 주요 모듈을 활용하고 개발 단계에서 도커 기반의 컴포넌트 기술을 적용하여 코딩 플랫폼이 안정적으로 수행이 될 수 있게 구성하였다. 또한 코딩 플랫폼의 설계 및 구현에 있어서 컴포넌트 기반의 소형 모듈의 서비스 연동 방식을 적용하여 시스템이 효율적으로 동작이 될 수 있게 하였다..

  • 빅데이터 및 머신러닝 플랫폼을 구축하기 위해선 많은 하드웨어와 소프트웨어, 데이터 엔지니어가 필수인데, 초급 엔지니어들은 경험 부족으로 인해 기업의 수요를 충족시키지 못하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 초급 데이터 엔지니어가 쉽게 접근 가능한 오픈소스를 활용한 빅데이터 플랫폼과 머신러닝 플랫폼을 통합한 7개층으로 이루어진 '데이터 플랫폼'을 제안한다. 향후 제안하는 플랫폼의 현실적인 검증을 위해 계층간 연계가 얼마나 용이한지에 대해 후속연구가 필요하다.

A Proposal of Interoperability between Social Media and Blockchain-based Smart Contract System for Artwork Trading (예술품 거래를 위한 소셜 미디어와 블록체인 기반 스마트 계약 시스템의 연동 제안)

  • Social media is growing rapidly as a means of promoting artists' artworks and a channel for sales. However, since social media is not fundamentally a platform designed for trading, it has various limitations that make it difficult to ensure trust and security in carrying out transactions. In this paper, it is proposed interoperability between social media and blockchain-based smart contract system that can record and preserve the artist's profile, information related to artworks and details of the contract on the blockchain. The proposed interoperability allows artwork trading participants on social media to maintain mutual trust and to conduct the contract transparently. Also, the proposed interoperability consists of an API provided by the social media developer or an open source API without having to modify existing social media. This study is expected to contribute to the growth of the art trading market on social media by complementing the art trading practices on social media.
