  • There are many problems that occur currently in agriculture industries. The problems such as unexpected of changing weather condition, lack of labor, dry soil were some of the reasons that may cause the growth of the plants. Condition of the weather in local area is inconsistent due to the global warming effect thus affecting the production of the crops. Furthermore, the loss of farm labor to urban manufacturing jobs is also the problem in this industry. Besides, the condition for the plant like air humidity, air temperature, air quality index, and soil moisture are not being recorded automatically which is more reason for the need of implementation system to monitor the data for future research and development of agriculture industry. As of this, we aim to provide a solution by developing IoT-based platform along with the irrigation for increasing crop quality and productivity in agriculture field. We aim to develop a smart garden system environment which the system is able to auto-monitoring the humidity and temperature of surroundings, air quality and soil moisture. The system also has the capability of automating the irrigation process by analyzing the moisture of soil and the climate condition (like raining). Besides, we aim to develop user-friendly system interface to monitor the data collected from the respective sensor. We adopt an open source hardware to implementation and evaluate this research.

  • This study developed a system that can collect, manage, and utilize the travel routes of individuals who tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) based on the data standardization and quality management principles and presented the analysis data collected from the existing system. Unlike many other countries in the world, Korea demonstrated a rapid response by conducting epidemiological investigations. Further, the local governments have actively shared the travel routes of individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 to facilitate proactive prevention of the infectious disease per the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Law. However, currently, there is no standard protocol for the local governments to share the information, thus complicating the process of sharing, managing, and utilizing the collected data. Therefore, this study developed a system that can facilitate sharing of the travel routes of individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 by establishing database construction procedures and using the travel route of COVID-19 patients as per the Disaster & Safety Information Sharing Platform and developing a data processing guideline, a data entry system with default templates, and Open API. Although this sharing system was designed to communicate the travel routes of COVID-19 patients, it can also be utilized in case of other infectious diseases. Therefore, it can be used as a response strategy for future outbreaks of infectious diseases.

  • There is a rapid development of experimental equipment and ICT technology in data-intensive scientific areas, thus, big data of more than exabyte size is being generated. However, the big data transmission technology does not satisfy the needs of the application researchers who utilize it. Various high-performance transmission technologies have been developed based on QoS(Quality of Service), but they also require changes in the clean slate method. On the other hand, ScienceDMZ technologies improve the performance of scientific big data transmission by bypassing the firewall that causes a big problem in transmission performance. In addition, it is possible to implement without changing the existing network. In this paper, we built ScienceDMZ in an international long-distance environment based on KREONET(Korea Research Environment Open NETwork), and we verified the performance. We also introduced how GPU platform could be linked in a distributed ScienceDMZ environment.

  • This study is a leading research project to develop an automatic grade decision making algorithm of a 6-years-old fresh ginseng. For this work, we developed a Ginseng image acquiring instrument which can take 4-direction's images of a Ginseng at the same time and obtained 245 jingen images using the instrument. The 12 parameters were extracted for each image by a manual way. Lastly, 4 parameters were selected depending on a Ginseng grade classification criteria of KGC Ginseng research institute and a survey result which a distribution of averaging 12 parameters. A pattern recognition classifier was used as a support vector machine, designed to "k-class classifier" using the OpenCV library which is a open-source platform. We had been surveyed the algorithm performance(Correct Matching Ratio, False Acceptance Ratio, False Reject Ratio) when the training data number was controlled 10 to 20. The result of the correct matching ratio is 94% of the $1^{st}$ ginseng grade, 98% of the $2^{nd}$ ginseng grade, 90% of the $3^{rd}$ ginseng grade, overall, showed high recognition performance with all grades when the number of training data are 10.

  • The PSD (Platform Screen Door System) has been installed to enhance the passengers' safety. A total of 592 stations operate the PSD system, which is almost 71.8% of all stations in South Korea. This study compared the opening rate between the PSD and train door, and calculated the exact amount of passengers at peak time. In addition, the evacuation time was simulated by Pathfinder 2015 with the exact input data. Some of the high density stations have extremely high dangerous points about the passengers' evacuation at some situations by the PSD door opening rate. In particular, due to the interference of a fixed door, when it stops at 7 m less than the regular position, its opening rate becomes less than half of the normal state. To solve this problem, it should be made possible to open the fixed door by changing it to an emergency door or improving the PSD module system.

  • Due to urban growth and increasing population density, many large cities contain building forests. Moreover, due to increasing demands for pleasant residential environments, there is growing concern over the encroachment of sunshine. Although research on related laws and other related fields is emerging, there is a limit to the extent to which the public can easily determine the amount of sunshine per building without referral to specialized agencies. Therefore, in this study, the duration of sunshine per building object was calculated via a simulation of urban shaded area using a spatial information open platform application programming interface. The study area was the'L'apartment complex located in the new city, Haeundae, Busan, China. To perform the duration of sunshine simulation for three-dimensional urban spatial objects, the building height was extracted from pre-built three-dimensional spatial information data, and the position of the sun was determined from calculations of the altitude and azimuth of the sun. This study provides a more precise and easier method of judging whether sunshine is impeded from reaching buildings by quantitatively analyzing sunshine and classifying the total duration of sunshine and the continuous duration of sunshine on each object.
