  • This study aims to determine the awareness and perceptions of Korean researchers regarding mandatory open access (OA) and OA publishing of publicly-funded research papers. In July 2019, Korean researchers who had published in Science Citation Index Expanded journals as first authors and corresponding authors participated in an online survey distributed via e-mail. A total of 1,172 valid responses were collected and analyzed using SPSS 18. The results indicated that the level of awareness of OA differed significantly based on occupation and research experience (p<0.001). Although 52.56% of the respondents had experienced OA publishing, only 22.35% had self-archiving experience. Regardless of the amount of publishing cost support, researchers showed a high level of willingness to publish OA articles. Yet, since the importance of impact factor was evaluated to be very high, at present OA publication might have a limited role as a publication platform.

  • In recent years Hadoop usage has been increasing day by day. The need of development of the technology and its specified outcomes are eagerly waiting across globe to adopt speedy access of data. Need of computers and its dependency is increasing day by day. Big data is exponentially growing as the entire world is working in online mode. Large amount of data has been produced which is very difficult to handle and process within a short time. In present situation industries are widely using the Hadoop framework to store, process and produce at the specified time with huge amount of data that has been put on the server. Processing of this huge amount of data having small files & its storage optimization is a big problem. HDFS, Sequence files, HAR, NHAR various techniques have been already proposed. In this paper we have discussed about various existing techniques which are developed for accessing and storing small files efficiently. Out of the various techniques we have specifically tried to implement the HDFS- HAR, NHAR techniques.

  • This study divided articles into two time periods, from 2012 to 2022, with the aim of using big data analysis to look at patterns in the ecosystem of fashion start-ups. The research method extracted top keywords based on TF(Term Frequency) and TF-IDF(Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency), analyzed the network, and derived centrality values. As a result of comparing the first and second fashion startup ecosystems, elements of policy, support, market, finance, and human capital were derived in the first period. In addition, in the second period, elements of policy, support, market, finance, and culture were derived. In the first period, the fashion startup ecosystem focused on fostering new designer startups by emphasizing support, finance, and human capital factors and focusing on policies. Meanwhile, in the second period, online-based fashion platform startups and fashion tech startups appeared with the support of digital transformation and fulfillment services triggered by COVID-19(Corona Virus Disease 19), private finances were emphasized, and cultural factors were derived along with success stories of fashion startups. This study is meaningful in that it helps in developing strategies for fashion startups to grow into sustainable companies.

  • This study explored issues related to the library in the COVID-19 era in YouTube videos in Korea. This study performed social network analysis and topic modeling analysis by collecting 479 YouTube videos, 20,545 words, and 8,379 channels related to COVID-19 and the library from 2019 to 2020. The study results confirmed that YouTube, a social media platform, was used as an important medium to connect users and physical libraries and provide/promote online library services. In the study, major topics and keywords such as quarantine, vlog, and library identity during the COVID-19 pandemic, library services and functions, and introductions and user guides of libraries were derived. Additionally, it was identified that videos about COVID-19 and the library are being produced by various actors (news and media channels, libraries, government agencies, librarians, and individual users). However, the study also identified that the actor network is fragmented through the channel network, showing a low density or weak linkage, and that the centrality of the library in the actor network is weak.

  • This study seeks to investigate K-fashion's external image by examining the trends in global media reporting. It applies Dynamic Topic Modeling (DTM), which captures the evolution of topics in a sequentially organized corpus of documents, and consists of text preprocessing, the determination of the number of topics, and a timeseries analysis of the probability distribution of words within topics. The data set comprised 551 online media articles on 'Korean fashion' or 'K-fashion' published on Google News between 2010 and 2021. The analysis identifies seven topics: 'brand look and style,' 'lifestyle,' 'traditional style,' 'Seoul Fashion Week (SFW) event,' 'model size,' 'K-pop,' and 'fashion market,' as well as annual topic proportion trends. It also explores annual word changes within the topic and indicates increasing and decreasing word patterns. In most topics, the probability distribution of the word 'brand' is confirmed to be on the increase, while 'digital,' 'platform,' and 'virtual' have been newly created in the 'SFW event' topic. Moreover, this study confirms the transition of each K-fashion topic over the past 12 years, along with various factors related to Hallyu content, traditional culture, government support, and digital technology innovation.

  • In programming classes, there is always a need to efficiently manage programming assignments. This is especially important as class sizes and assignment complexity grows. GitHub and GitHub Classroom makes the management of student assignments much simpler than uploading files and folders to a LMS or shared online drive. Additionally, git and GitHub are industry standard tools, so introducing students these tools in class provides them a good opportunity to start learning about how software is developed in the real-world. This study describes a workflow that uses both GitHub Pages and GitHub Classroom for more efficient classroom and assignment management. The workflow outlined in this study was used in two practical web programming classes in Spring 2023 with 46 third and fourth-year university students. GitHub Pages was used as a classroom website to distribute class announcements, assignments, lecture slides, study guides, and exams. GitHub Classroom was used as a class roster and assignment management platform. The workflow presented in this study is expected to assist other lecturers with the formidable tasks of distributing, collecting, grading, and leaving feedback on multiple students' multi-file programming assignments in practical programming classes.

  • Instagram is one of the fastest-growing online photo social web services where users share their life images and videos with other users. Image tagging is an essential step for developing Automatic Image Annotation (AIA) methods that are based on the learning by example paradigm. Hashtags can be used on just about any social media platform, but they're most popular on Twitter and Instagram. Using hashtags is essentially a way to group together conversations or content around a certain topic, making it easy for people to find content that interests them. Practically on average, 20% of the Instagram hashtags are related to the actual visual content of the image they accompany, i.e., they are descriptive hashtags, while there are many irrelevant hashtags, i.e., stophashtags, that are used across totally different images just for gathering clicks and for search ability enhancement. Hence in this work, Sorting instagram hashtags all the way through mass tagging using HITS (Hyperlink-Induced Topic Search) algorithm is presented. The hashtags can sorted to several groups according to Jensen-Shannon divergence between any two hashtags. This approach provides an effective and consistent way for finding pairs of Instagram images and hashtags, which lead to representative and noise-free training sets for content-based image retrieval. The HITS algorithm is first used to rank the annotators in terms of their effectiveness in the crowd tagging task and then to identify the right hashtags per image.
