축열식 심야전력기기를 위한 축열량 제어기 설계 (Design of a Controller for the Heat Capacity of Thermal Storage Systems Using Off-Peak Electricity)

  • This paper presnts a controller for the heat capacity of thermal storage systems using off-peak electricity which is composed of an identifier using neural networks and a storage time adjuster in order to store exactly the required thermal energy without loss. Since thermal storage systems have nonlinear characteristics and large time constant, even if we predict the heating load accurately, it is very difficult to store exactly the required thermal energy. Thus, in the neural network for the identifier, the adaptive learning rate for high learning speed and bit inputs based on state changes of thermal storage power source are used. Also a hardware for the controller using a microprocessor is developed. The performance of the proposed controller is shown by experiment.

A Study on the Prevention of Spill of Fuel Oils and Lubricating Oils for Sunken Ships

  • A sunken ship often involves an oil spill. This paper was carried out to minimize environmental and cost damages stemming from oil spil of sunken shipl. Through the analysis of both the standards of the oil tank system and installation, we have identified potential oil spill sites and proposed a remedy of prevention. The result of study, the air pipes of the oil tank are a vulnerable point for oil spill. Also, the remote control devices of emergency shut-off valve have poor accessibility at abandon ship, making it difficult to shut off the emergency shut-off valve. Thus, we propose the addition of a remote quick closing valve in the air pipe and the building of a central control system.

과전류 제한 기능을 갖는 연료 분사장치의 고속 구동 방법 (High Speed Operation of Fuel Injectors with Over Current Protection)

  • High speed drive method for a fuel injector cleaner with current control is presented in this paper. The fuel injector cleaner is used for cleaning the fuel injectors in vehicles when it is clogged with deposit and rust. The fuel injector cleaner cleans the fuel injector by turning on and off the fuel injector rapidly. When the fuel injectors are cleaned, the switching speed is very important. However, when the fuel injector is turned off, the residual current in the fuel injector coil slows down the return action of the plunger in the fuel injector deteriorating performance and speed of the fuel injector cleaner. In this paper, fast turn off operation method of fuel injectors is developed for more effective cleaning. The simulation and experiment results show the validity of the proposed method.

  • Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that have been recently commercialized can largely be divided into fixed-wing aircraft and rotor aircraft by their styles and flight characteristics. Although the fixed-wing aircraft represents higher power efficiency, higher speed, longer flight distance and larger loading weight than the rotor aircraft, they have a disadvantage of requiring a space for take-off and landing. On the other hand, the rotor aircraft can implement vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) and represents various flight modes (hovering, steep bank turns and low-speed flights). But they require both precision take-off control and attitude control. In this study, we used a quad-tilt rotor UAV to combine advantages in both the fixed-wing aircraft and the rotor aircraft. The quad-tilt rotor (QTR) system was designed and constructed by adding a tilt device with a servo motor to a general quad-rotor vehicle.

  • Recent environmental pollutions have intensified the need to develop zero emission vehicles. The most effect method of such solutions is EV. EV is high energy efficiency, easy to maintain, repair and is possible to make high performance control. However, because energy density of batteries is constrained and the distance covered one charge is short range. Also because EV has disadvantage of poor accelation ability, development of high performance battery is required for large scale use of EV. EV charger analogous to gas apparatus must also be developed immediately. Charger is discriminate between on-vehicle type and off-vehicle type. As off-vehicle type is able to charge fast and safe, inductive charging is considered. This paper aims to develope off-vehicle inductive charging system. Therefore, it achieved power factor correction converter, high frequency DC/AC inverter control algorithm development which gives proof validity through simulation and formulated the basic concept of high frequency transformer design for inductive charging.

과거 50년간 고려인삼 병 방제 변천사 (History of Disease Control of Korean Ginseng over the Past 50 Years)

  • 인삼 병해 방제 연구 초기 단계였던 1970~1980년대에는 병원균을 분리하고 동정한 후 병원균의 생리와 발병 특성을 구명하였다. 그에 따라 지상부 주요 병해인점무늬병, 탄저병, 역병, 그리고 주요 토양 병해인 모잘록병, 모썩음병, 균핵병, 잘록병 등에 대한 경종적(耕種的) 예방법과 화학적 방제를 병행하는 방제법이 수립 될 수 있었다. 1980년대에 해가림 피복물이 기존의 볏짚 대신 polyethylene(P.E) 차광망으로 바뀌었다. 이에 따른 병 방제법 개선 연구가 1987~1989년에 진행되었다. 이때의 연구를 통하여 점무늬병 발병 억제를 위한 빗물 누수 최소화 4중직 P.E 차광망 소재가 도입되었다. 1990년부터는 줄기속무름병균을 동정하였고 발병을 억제하는 화경제거법이 수립되었다. 또한 연작장해 원인균인 뿌리썩음병균을 구명하고 연작지 재활용을 위한 토양 훈증방법, 성토방법의 기초 및 응용연구가 진행되었다. 2000년에 들어서는 급속한 기후 변화에 대응하기 위한 방제법 수정과 보완 연구가 수행되었는데 출아기 강우 과다에 의한 줄기점무늬병의 작물보호제 방제법과 잿빛곰팡이병의 경종적 예방법이 수립되었다. 또한 모잘록병, 잘록병의 방제법 개선 방안이 확립되었다. 지난 50년 동안 초기에는 인삼 병의 원인과 방제법의 개발에 주력하였고, 후기에는 개발된 방제법의 개선이 이루어졌다. 이러한 연구 결과를 경험삼아 앞으로 기후변화, 인삼 초작지 고갈, 인건비 상승, 소비자의 안전성 의식제고 등과 같은 여건 변화에 능동적으로 대응할 수 있는 새로운 인삼 재배법과 병해 방제법이 개발되어야 할 것이다.

폐기물 매립지 지반내에서의 지하수오염제어 (GROUNDWATER POLLUTION CONTROL IN UNCONTROLLED WASTE LANDFILLS)

  • Groundwater in waste landfills can be contarninated by leachates produced from wastes and flow down toward rivers. These accidents are easily discovered in uncontrolled landfill sites. In this study, applications for controlling groundwater pollution and protecting river pollution were studied using installation of cut-off walls around the waste landfill. Analyses for the efficiency and applicability of the cut-off wall were made under environmental, economical anc technical considerations. Cut-off walls were installed at the upgradient and the downgradient. prediction analyses for the hydraulic head distribution over the site were made for concerning with the final cover and without the final cover. Also, the hydraulic head distribution was predicted with well-pumping on both cases, upgradient cut-off wall and downgradient cut-off wall.

Vibration isolation with smart fluid dampers: a benchmarking study

  • The non-linear behaviour of electrorheological (ER) and magnetorheological (MR) dampers makes it difficult to design effective control strategies, and as a consequence a wide range of control systems have been proposed in the literature. These previous studies have not always compared the performance to equivalent passive systems, alternative control designs, or idealised active systems. As a result it is often impossible to compare the performance of different smart damper control strategies. This article provides some insight into the relative performance of two MR damper control strategies: on/off control and feedback linearisation. The performance of both strategies is benchmarked against ideal passive, semi-active and fully active damping. The study relies upon a previously developed model of an MR damper, which in this work is validated experimentally under closed-loop conditions with a broadband mechanical excitation. Two vibration isolation case studies are investigated: a single-degree-of-freedom mass-isolator, and a two-degree-of-freedom system that represents a vehicle suspension system. In both cases, a variety of broadband mechanical excitations are used and the results analysed in the frequency domain. It is shown that although on/off control is more straightforward to implement, its performance is worse than the feedback linearisation strategy, and can be extremely sensitive to the excitation conditions.

On-line Monitoring and Control of Substrate Concentrations in Biological Processes by Flow Injection Analysis Systems

  • Concentrations of substrates, glucose, and ammionia in biological processes have been on-line monitored by using glucose-flow injection (FIA) and ammonia-FIA systems. Based on the on-line monitored data the concentrations of substrates have been controlled by an on-off controller, a PID controller, and a neural network (NN) based controller. A simulation program has been developed to test the control quality of each controller and to estimate the control parameters. The on-off controller often produced high oscillations at the set point due to its low robustness. The control quality of a PID controller could have been improved by a high analysis frequency and by a short residence time of sample in a FIA system. A NN-based controller with 3 layers has been developed, and a 3(input)-2(hidden)-1(output) network structure has been found to be optimal for the NN-based controller. The performance of the three controllers has been tested in a simulated process as well as in a cultivation process of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and the performance has also been compared to simulation results. The NN-based controller with the 3-2-1 network structure was robust and stable against some disturbances, such as a sudden injection of distilled water into a biological process.

다중차량의 자동 주행 시의 레이터 상호간섭 억제 (Suppressio of mutual interference among vehicular radars by ON-OFF control of pulses)

  • 본 논문에서는 지능형 차량에서 사용되는 레이더 센서 사이의 상호 간섭 억제 방법을 제안한다. 이 연구는 표준화된 펄스형 레이더에서 동기형 간섭 신호의 억제 방안에 관한 것이다. 레이더 펄스의 방사는 ON-OFF 제어되며, OFF 구간에서 수신된 간섭 신호는 각 레이진 별로 분석되어 저장되며 이를 이용하여 ON 구간에서의 거짓 반사파의 위치를 예측하며, 이로써 ON 구간에서의 동기형 간섭 신호를 제거한다. I-Q 변복조 방식의 레이더 시스템에서, Rayleigh 분포와 Rician 분포의 잡음에서의 오경보 확률과 미탐지 확률을 유도하였다. 펄스 신호 유무의 판별 시의 임계값을 적응적으로 조절함으로써 오경보 확률은 감소시키고 미탐지 확률의 저하를 억제하는 방법을 제시하였으며, 시뮬레이션 결과 오경보 확률은 최고 10\sup 4\배 감소하였고 미탐지 확률의 저하는 무시할 정도였다.
