The subjects of the study were 148 attendees of OO senior welfare center in Seoul and a survey was conducted from July 4 to October 7, 2016. The method of analysis was by using the SPSSWIN 18.0 program, a 5% level of significance was verified in a frequency analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results showed that first, from investigating the difference in the level of preparation for old age according to general characteristics, there was a significant difference according to age, occupation, monthly income, and physical condition but there was no significant difference according to gender and level of education. Second, as a result of observing the difference in the level of happiness according to general characteristics, although there was a significant difference according to occupation and monthly income, the difference level according to gender, age, level of education, health condition was less than a 5% level of significance. • The purpose of this study is to examine the factors affecting the baby boom generation's preparation for old age, and based on that, it will provide foundational data to improve the baby boom generation's preparation for life in old age. According to the study results, with regard to their socio-demographic characteristics, their sex, age, health conditions, average monthly income, attitudes to old age, and anxiety about aging may have significant effects on their preparation for old age. In other words, the degree of preparation for old age is higher in women than men, those who are older, those having better health conditions, those with higher average monthly income, and those with better attitudes to old age, and those whose anxiety about aging is lower. Based on the above study results, the paper intends to make the following political suggestions: first, it is needed to develop preparation for old age services appropriately for each generation's needs and characteristics in consideration of their socio-demographic characteristics. Second, it is necessary to provide education for preparation for life in old age by steps and change their consciousness to enhance their attitudes to old age. Third, it is needed to develop and distribute a variety of mental health programs that can lower their anxiety about aging.

  • In order to promote well-being during old age, it is important to start preparing early on for the later life. Based on this thesis, this study examined attitudes of the middle-aged women residing in rural towns on their preparation for old age as well as related variables. For this purpose, survey data from 200 individuals were analyzed using a SAS program. The overall degree of preparation for old age was quantified as about 67 points out of a 100 possible points. The variables that affected the level of preparedness include attitude toward using a paid nursing home ($\beta$=.23), type of agricultural work they engage in ($\beta$=-.21), who do you think is a supporter during your old age($\beta$=.20)], type of decision-making in the household ($\beta$=.17). The explanatory power of such variables as standards of living ($\beta$=.18), family type ($\beta$=-.18), recognition of the entrance of old age ($\beta$=.17), and preparation behavior for old age ($\beta$=.15) were partially proved in three sub-areas (economical, emotional, and leisure areas) of preparation. The groundwork of this study could be used as basic materials to develop an educational program to improve the attitudes toward preparation for old age.

  • Background: The purpose of this study is to emphasize the importance and necessity of the government's old-age preparation service by measuring the economic value of the old-age service and the policy direction and policy implications of the government's old-age preparation service project. Methods: Contingent Valuation Method (CVM) was used as an analytical method. CV methodology was used to calculate the Willingness to pay (WTP) for old-age preparation service and its value was estimated and the economic benefit of the project was estimated. Results: As a result of the analysis, the average monthly payment amount for the old service was calculated as 5,100 won, and the annual average payment amount was estimated to be 61,197.1 won. Conclusion: The present value of the benefit for 10 years with the discount rate of 5.5% is 484,651 won. Based on the value of peruser benefit, the total benefit value calculation result of the old-age preparation service considering the Willingness to pay for the next 10 years shows that the total benefit value of the old service, which occurs during the period from 2016 to 2025(10 years) was estimated at 415.1 billion won. As a result of calculating the benefit for each scenario, the present value of basic service is higher in all scenarios than the linked service.
