The Effect of TiAlN coated Ball End Mill and MQL Cutting Condition on Cutting characteristic of High Hardness Steels (고경도 강재의 MQL 가공시 초경 볼 엔드밀의 TiAlN 코팅 조건이 절삭 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper is studied on the effect of TiAlN coated Ball End Mill and MQL(Minimum Quantity Lubrication) cutting condition on cutting characteristic of high hardness steels. KP4 steels[HRC32] and STD11[HRC60] heat treated steels were used as the workpiece and WC-Co ball end mill and single and multi layer TiAlN coated ball end mill were utilized in the cutting tests. MQL device was used to spray botanical oil coolant. Result showed that TiAlN coated ball end mill were increased the cutting length than WC-Co ball end mill in the cutting speed[$245{\sim}320m/min$] about $2.3{\sim}5.7$ times for KP4 steels and about $2.5{\sim}4.3$ times far STD11 heat treated steels. The multi layer TiAlN coated ball end mill is good for KP4 steels than single layer coated.

  • The electrical properties of polyethylene are changed by the superstructure. Such crystalline polymer as polyethylene or polypropylene changes crystallinity and products spherulite or trans-crystal when it is cooled slowly. In this study, after thermal treatment of LDPE at 100[${circ}C$], in silicone oil for an hour, we made specimens in order of slow cooling, water cooling, quenching according to cooling speed. Also, to study the influence of electrical properties due to the superstructure change, we analyzed physical properties and performed dielectric breakdown experiments using DC and impulse voltage Moreover we measured space charges in bulk using Laser Induced Pressure Pulse(LIPP) method. Trap level of specimen is 0.064[eV] at the low temperature region 0.31[eV] at the high temperature region in DC dielectric strength, 0.03[eV] at the low temperature region 0.0925[eV] at the high temperature region in impulse dielectric strength. As its result shows that the quantity of charges induced from the electrode surface increases with applied voltage time, and the distribution of space charges in samples increases the quantity of charges in proportion to applied voltage.

College Students' Nutrition Knowledge and Practices toward Dietary Fat (남녀 대학생의 지방에 대한 영양지식과 실천도)

  • This study was made for male and female university students regarding the nutrition knowledge about fat, fat contents in food, and practice toward fat. The result is as follows;1.Out of 13 questions inquiring the knowledge about fat a significant difference was observed between female and male students in 10 questions. Male students' nutrition knowledge about fat was $6.33{\pm}0.16$, and that of female students' was $6.33{\pm}0.16$ and there was no significant difference. The ratio of correct answer was 49% and 59% respectively. Female students marked high ratio of correct answer such items as ${\omega}-3$ fatty acid, the relation between high fat diet and atherosclerosis(coronary disease), the relation between obesity and fat, the relation between ${\omega}-3$ fatty acid and heart disease, cholesterol, fatty acid in butter, degree of unsaturation in liquid oil, margarine, chicken fat, rancity of fat. 2.Male students' total score of knowledge about fat quantity in food was $4.91{\pm}0.10$ and that of female students was $5.58{\pm}0.10$. There was significant difference(p<0.001) and the ratio of correct answer was 55% and 62% respectively. Out of 9 food items, significant difference was observed in 7 items according to student's majoring subject. The ratio of correct answer for the questions about the quantity of fat in food female showed high figures in such items as white meat(p<0.01), whole milk(p<0.0001), skim milk(p<0.01), potato chips(p<0.001), biscuit(p<0.001). However, male students showed high figures on the question about the quantity of fat in vegetable margarine. 3. Out of 12 items observing the degree of diet practice on fat, significant difference was observed between male and female students in 6 items. Female students practice the question items positively with high ratio: intake of fish instead of meat(p<0.01), removing visible fat in meat(p<0.0001), removing chicken skin(p<0.0001), removing oil during cooking (p<0.05), selection of low fat milk or skim milk(p<0.05), selection of meat part(p<0.001). There was significant difference between male and female students in practicing diet on fat (p<0.001) and the total score was $31.52{\pm}0.52$ and $34.65{\pm}0.41$ respectively.

Mineral Composition, Depositional Environment and Spectral Characteristics of Oil Shale Occurring in Dundgobi, Mongolia (몽골 돈디고비지역에서 산출되는 오일셰일의 광물조성, 퇴적환경 및 분광학적 특성)

  • This study investigated genetic, mineralogical and spectral characteristics of oil shale and coal samples in Dundgobi area, Mongolia. Based the Rock/Eval and Total organic carbon (TOC) analysis, kerogen type, hydrogen quantity, thermal maturity and depositional environment were confirmed. Moreover, the mineral composition of oil shale and coal samples were analyzed by XRD and spectroscopy. The result of Rock Eval/TOC analysis revealed that the samples of Eedemt deposit are immature to mature source rocks with sufficient hydrocarbon potential, and the kerogen types were classified as Type I, Type II and Type III kerogen. On the other hand, the samples from Shine Us Khudag deposit were mature with good to very good hydrocarbon potential rocks where kengen types are defined as Type I, Type II/III and Type III kerogen. According to the carbon and sulfur contents, the depositional environment of the both sites were defined as a freshwater depositional environment. The XRD analysis revealed that the mineral composition of oil shale and coal samples were quartz, calcite, dolomite, illite, kaolinite, montmorillonite, anorthoclase, albite, microcline, orthoclase and analcime. The absorption features of oil shale samples were at 1412 nm and 1907 nm by clay minerals and water, 2206 nm by clay minerals of kaolinite and montmorillonite and 2306 nm by dolomite. It is considered that spectral characteristics on organic matter content test must be tested for oil shale exploration using remote sensing techniques.

The Estimation of Benzo(a)pyrene Emission from Fuel Combustion in the Seosan Area (서산지역에서 연료연소에 의해 배출된 benzo(a)pyrene의 배출량 산정)

  • Objectives: This study estimated the emission quantity of benzo(a)pyrene(BaP) produced by fuel combustion in the Seosan area, and analyzed the uncertainty regarding the emissions. Methods: It was based on data from a national agency and from public institutions. Emissions were estimated by using national-level guidelines. The total estimated emissions were analyzed by performing Monte Carlo analysis. Results: The full emission quantity of BaP which was discharged by fuel combustion in the Seosan area stood at 1,194.79 g/yr. The point source emissions came to 184.16 g/yr (95% CI; 158.40-209.39). The line source emissions reached 315.33 g/yr (95% CI; 284.99-344.03). The area source emissions accounted for 695.31 g/yr (95% CI; 605.10-793.88). Chemical and compound manufacturing was the highest with 639.13 g/yr (95% CI; 542.95-728.24) in terms of emissions and oil refinery emissions were high with 153.10 g/yr (95% CI; 129.19~177.46). It was found in the Seosan area that the major source of BaP is the manufacturing of chemicals and chemical products. Conclusion: The emission quantity of BaP which was discharged by the fuel combustion in Seosan area reached 1,194.79 g/yr. Research needs to be continued for the definite estimation of emission of BaP henceforth.

The Study on Reduction Method of CO2 Emission from Ships (선박에서의 CO2 배출량 저감 방안 연구)

  • This Paper presented the reduction methods of $CO_2$ emission from ships during voyage. In order to decrease $CO_2$ emission during voyage the equation was established and conducted the study about the relationship between ship speed, the propulsive efficiency and its $CO_2$ production. The results obtained from the examinations are as follows : 1. $CO_2$ emission from sailing ships can be decreased by reducing specific fuel oil consumption of main diesel engine, coefficient of total resistance and ship speed and also by increasing propeller efficiency. 2. Diesel-electric propulsion system is more effective than diesel-mechanical system to decrease the level of $CO_2$ emission during long voyage. 3. Good condition of ship's hull surface, rudder and propeller's surface can decrease the quantity of fuel oil and $CO_2$ emission by reducing the resistance of ship that can rise the propeller efficiency 4. $CO_2$ emitted from ships can be decreased in a global scale by giving attention to the synthetic transport efficiency.

Efficient MQL-based Drilling of Inconel 601 (인코넬 601의 효율적인 MQL드릴링 가공)

  • In drilling Inconel 601, which is used for compressor cases in aircraft engines, a lot of cutting oil must be supplied. This prevents tools from wear and fracture due to the heat buildup resulting from the high-temperature resistance and toughness of this alloy. However, the cutting oil supply has compromised the machining environment. This has caused attention to shift to an environmentally friendly cutting fluid supply system called the Minimum Quantity Lubrication(MQL) system. The aim of this study was to find a more efficient drill processing method using MQL and to verify its performance. To that end, the properties of Inconel that make it difficult -to -drill were studied by a comparison with the drilling of SM45C. Specific factors (i.e., cutting force and tool wear) were examined in relation to the conditions in the MQL-based drilling system. Based on these results, a sealed cover and step feed were proposed as measures to increase the effectiveness of the MQL system. The efficiency of the proposed method was established.

Current biotechnology for the increase of vegetable oil yield in transgenic plants (식물 지방산 생산량의 증진을 위한 생명공학 연구현황)

  • The most part of vegetable oils is accumulated as storage lipid, triacylglycerol (TAG) in seed and used as energy source when seed is germinated. It is also used as essential fatty acids and energy source for human and animal. Recently, vegetable oils have been more and more an important resource because of the increasing demand of vegetable oils for cooking and industrial uses for bio-diesel and industrial feedstock. In order to increase vegetable oils using biotechnology, over-expressing or repressing the regulatory genes involved in the flow of carbon into lipid biosynthesis is critical during seed development. In this review, we described candidate genes may influence oil amount and investigate their potential for oil increase. Genes involved in the regulation from biosynthesis of fatty acids to the accumulation oils in seed can be classified as follows: First, genes play a role for synthesis precursor molecules for TAG. Second, genes participate in fatty acid biosynthesis and TAG assembly. Lastly, genes encodes transcription factors involved in seed maturation and accumulation of seed oil. Because factors/genes determining oil quantity in seed is complex as mentioned, recently regulation of transcription factors is being considered more favorable approach than manipulate multiple genes for increasing oil in transgenic plants. However, it should be figured out the problem that bad agricultural traits induced by the overexpression of transcription factor gene.

Screening of by-products derived from marine food processing for extraction of DHA-contained lipid (DHA 함유 지질 추출소재로서 수산부산물의 검색)

  • As a part of basic investigation for utilizing by-products derived from marine food processing more effectively as a food source, lipid contents, fatty acid compositions and lipid compositions in viscera and head of conger eel and hair tail, viscera of mackerel pike, and squids caught off Newzealand and off Falkland island were determined. The lipid contents in marine by-products showed $40.5{\sim}48.0%$ on a dry weight basis and it consisted of $92.1{\sim}99.0%$ neutral lipid and $1.0{\sim}7.9%$ polar lipid such as phospholipid and glycolipid. The neutral lipids mainly consisted of triglyceride$(50.0{\sim}69.9%)$ and had free fatty acid, free sterol, esterified sterol and hydrocarbon, diglyceride, and monoglyceride in less quantity. Squid viscera oil showed higher content in polyenes such as 20:5 and 22:6 than by-product oil derived from fish processing. Viscera oil of squid caught off Newzealand(21.1%) was the highest on DHA composition, followed by that of squid caught off Falkland island(16.3%), hair tail by-product oil(13.9%), conger eel by-product oil(11.7%) and mackerel pike by-product oil(10.7%), in the order named. The major fatty acids in total lipid and neutral lipid of byproducts were generally 16:0, 18: 1n-9, 20:5n-3 and 22:6n-3.

Differences of Major Compounds in Valerian fauriei var. dasycarpa HARA and Valerian officinalis L. Grown at Different Places in Korea (광릉쥐오줌풀과 넓은잎쥐오줌풀의 산지별 유효성분의 변화)

  • This study was conducted to know the effect of cultivation area with different sea levels on essential oil content and its composition and content of major active compounds in Valerian fauriei var. dasycarpa HARA and Valerian officinalis L. The total contents of essential oil were not different according to the locality in both valerian, however, its compositions were varied. The major components in V. fauriei were detected bornyl acetate and sesquiterpene alcohol in three cultivation areas. The major compounds were borneol, borney acetate, ${\beta}\;-sesquiohellandrene$ in V. officinalis other. Among the valepotrate components known as major pharaceutically active components in Europe and Nepal valerian, valtrate was detected in a small amount in V. fauriei, but its quantity was not changed according to the cultivation area.
