  • Sealing an oil-air mixture plays important roles to have an enhanced lubrication for high speed spindele. Current work was emphased on the investigation of air jet effect on the protective collar type labyrinth seal. To improve the sealing capability of conventional labyrinth seal,ari jet was injected against through the leakage flow. It has a combined geometry of a protective collar type and an air jet type. In this study, both of a numerical analysis by CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and experimental measureements are carried out of verify sealing improvement. But of the turbulence and the compressible flow model were introduced in CFD analysis. The sealing effect of the leakage clearance and the air jet magnitude were studied for variousparameter in the experiment. The results of pressure drop in the experiment match reasonably to those of the simulation by introducing a flow coefficient. Effects of sealing improvement are explained as decreasing of effective leckage clearance by air jetting. Thus, sealing effect is improved by amount of air jetting even though clearance become larger.

  • In a power plant, it is generally accepted that a turbine governor system is necessary to control amount of steam supply toward the turbine system. There are many kinds of trouble at this governor system, which is recognized one of the most sensitive systems in the power plant. Especially we have experienced the internal leakage of motorization oil of servo valve. In the study, we investigated the mechanism of an internal leakage such as erosion by foreign materials and corrosion by chemical reaction between chloric healed oil and motorization oil. A precautionary measures is also performed to help the field service engineers.

  • Power steering hose is device that operation oil passes between steering gear box and oil pump by parts that is used to do steering system. Because this hose is receiving heat and pressure of high temperature, leakage can produce swaging from hitch of steel materials of done part. In this paper, we analyze swaging process of Power steering hose by finite element analysis, and achieved thermal and pressure analysis with this shape. We can analogize weakness part of hose through this result, and examine closely oil leakage and rubber failure mechanism and look for important design benevolence of power steering hose development.

  • The purpose of this paper is to review the understanding of pollution causes in the excitation system and how to solve the problem. The cause of the problem was in-leakage of bearing lubricant oil through the gap between rotor and outer in the air deflector, which was triggered by a negative pressure with respect to the operation of a collector ring fan in the collector house. In order to prevent exciting current transmission equipment pollutant, the reduction of the negative gage pressure of the inside of collector house is required. The protection in-leakage of bearing lubricant oil through the gap between rotor and outer of the air deflector are necessary. The reduction of the inside diameter of air deflector and the expansion of inlet filter of collector house are inevitable.

  • When oil flows and rubs against various materials in transformer, electrostatic charges are separated at the interface of the oil and the solid material. Using simplified model transformer, authors investigated the basic characteristics of the streaming electrifica-tion which is caused by forced oil circulation. As the result of the study, it was concluded that the electrostatic charge distribution on test pipe of the transformer showed larger leakage current at the inlet and the outlet.

  • 이 논문은 LPG 자동차의 캠축베어링 시일의 오일누설, 컴퓨터커넥터 핀 손상에 의한 접촉불량, 베이퍼라이저 배부불량으로 인한 고장사례에 대하여 현상을 분석, 연구한 것이다. 첫 번째 사례는 실린더 헤드를 분해하여 확인한 결과 타이밍 시스템에서 가까운 엔진의 흡기캠축의 베어링과 시일의 조립부 손상으로 인해 이 부위로 엔진오일이 누설되는 것을 확인하였다. 두 번째 사례는 엔진컴퓨터로 공급되는 자동차의 시동을 제어하는 전원선의 커넥터 핀이 손상되어, 전원이 공급되지 않아 시동이 꺼진 것을 확인하였다. 세 번째 사례는 베이퍼라이저 내부에 이물질의 퇴적으로 인해 가스의 흐름이 원활하지 못하여 엔진의 부조화현상이 발생되었다. 결국, 베이퍼라이저에서 믹서로 적은 양의 가스를 공급하게 되고, 믹서의 스로틀 열림량을 제어하는 컴퓨터는 그 열림량만큼 공기를 공급하게 됨으로써 연소실에서 혼합기는 희박한 상태가 되어 엔진의 적정출력을 내지 못하는 것을 확인하였다. 따라서, 자동차가 최적의 운전조건이 될 수 있도록 자동차관련 시스템의 관리를 철저하게 해야한다.

  • In this paper, we measured leakage current that produced by static electrification at pressboard and insulating paper. We found that the leakage current increased as temperature increased, as oil velocity increased. The leakage current at pressboard is higher than that of insulating paper.

  • 지하 원유 저장공동에서 두 공동간의 혼유 방지를 위해 설치되는 더블 플러그는 구조물 시공 후 더블 플러그 내부를 물로 채운 후에 충수의 누수 정도를 파악함으로써 플러그 기밀성을 평가한다. 만약 예상 누수량이 과소하게 산정되면 시공비용이 증대되고, 과다하게 산정될 경우에는 운영비용이 증가될 수 있으므로 최적의 예상 누수량을 산정할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 더블 플러그(double plug) 주변의 투수특성을 보다 정확하게 반영할 수 있도록 수리 안정성 해석을 수행하였으며, 수리 안정성 해석 및 기존 사례 분석 과정을 통해 플러그 주변의 누수 가능성이 있는 모든 경로에 대한 예상 누수량을 산정하였다. 또한 누수 경로에 대한 누수량을 실측 하여 예상 누수량 산정 결과의 신뢰성을 확인하였다.

154 kV 및 345 kV 주변압기 부싱의 내진성능 시험 연구 (The Experimental Study on Seismic Capacity of 154 kV & 345 kV Main Transformer Bushings)

  • In this study, seismic performance of bushings and their connection parts was analyzed by performing shaking table tests for various types of bushings widely used as auxiliary equipment of main transformers in domestic substations. As a result of the seismic tests of five types of 154 kV bushings according to the manufacturers, all the bushings secured the structural integrity even at the acceleration of 1.4 g and it was found that leakage of insulating oil didn't occur. Also, the average acceleration amplification rate at the upper part of the bushings was about 2.5 to 3.0 times higher than the lower one. On the other hand, when a representative 345 kV bushing was subjected to the seismic test, the structural integrity was secured even at 1.0 g acceleration similar to the design earthquake load level, but in this test, leakage of insulating oil occurred. However, when a stiffener restricting the connection of the bushing is installed in the same 345 kV bushing, the displacement of the bushing connection is controlled and the stiffener prevent the oil from leaking even at the acceleration of the designed seismic level.

Fuzzy event tree analysis for quantified risk assessment due to oil and gas leakage in offshore installations

  • Accidental oil and gas leak is a critical concern for the offshore industry because it can lead to severe consequences and as a result, it is imperative to evaluate the probabilities of occurrence of the consequences of the leakage in order to assess the risk. Event Tree Analysis (ETA) is a technique to identify the consequences that can result from the occurrence of a hazardous event. The probability of occurrence of the consequences is evaluated by the ETA, based on the failure probabilities of the sequential events. Conventional ETA deals with events with crisp failure probabilities. In offshore applications, it is often difficult to arrive at a single probability measure due to lack of data or imprecision in data. In such a scenario, fuzzy set theory can be applied to handle imprecision and data uncertainty. This paper presents fuzzy ETA (FETA) methodology to compute the probability of the outcomes initiated due to oil/gas leak in an actual offshore-onshore installation. Post FETA, sensitivity analysis by Fuzzy Weighted Index (FWI) method is performed to find the event that has the maximum contribution to the severe sequences. It is found that events of 'ignition', spreading of fire to 'equipment' and 'other areas' are the highest contributors to the severe consequences, followed by failure of 'leak detection' and 'fire detection' and 'fire water not being effective'. It is also found that the frequency of severe consequences that are catastrophic in nature obtained by ETA is one order less than that obtained by FETA, thereby implying that in ETA, the uncertainty does not propagate through the event tree. The ranking of severe sequences based on their probability, however, are identical in both ETA and FETA.
