Effects of the Marital Conflict in Old Age on Elderly Divorce and Impulse to Commit a Crime (노년기 부부갈등이 황혼이혼과 범죄충동에 미치는 영향)

  • This study is for the analysis of the influence that the factors(communication, domestic life, offensive action, economic problem) of marital conflicts of old age and ecological systems factors(individual, family, sociality) have a impact to the divorce of elderly(thoughts and attempts of divorce) and the impulse to commit a crime(violence, egoism, running away from home). The guinea pigs is 350 married people of ages greater than 55 in the capital area. The 338 collected data excluding incomplete 12 data were analyzed. Statistical methods used in this study were factor analysis, frequency analysis, reliability analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Hiearchical regression analysis and Scheffe test with SPSS 18.0. The result are as follows. First, the marital conflict and ecological systems have a severe impact to the divorce of elderly, the more the conflict of the domestic life and the offensive action, the conflict in communicative and economic problem are getting higher. Second, the marital conflict and ecological systems have a severe impact to the impulse to commit a crime, the more the conflict of a domestic life and the conflict caused by spouse's attack, the economic problem, the egotistic impulse are getting higher. Third, there are some statistically similar differences of all the parts(sex, academic ability, job, children coresidence, religion, physical condition, monthly average income) in the marital conflict by characteristic of sociology of population, ecological systems, the divorce of elderly and the impulse to commit a crime.

Development of A Cognitive-Behavioral Anger Control Program and It's Effects on Elementary School Children Under the Anger-inducing Situation (초등학생의 분노유발상황에 초점을 둔 인지행동적 분노조절 프로그램의 효과)

  • One of the most common feelings in everyday life is anger. Anger plays an important role in activating emotional energy and increasing intolerance when confronted with hardships, frustration and improper treatments. And it provides us with controlling interpersonal behavior, organizing internal, physiological, psychological process and various adaptive functions. If anger is not properly expressed, it brings about offensive attitude, leading to not only physical impairment but also anxiety in interpersonal relations and maladaptive to everyday life. For elementary school students, frequent quarrels, abusive words and defiant attitude toward adults are also caused by students' anger. Therefore, students' anger is one of the most difficult problems to be dealt with not only psychologically but also in elementary schools. In this respect, after investigating frequently experienced anger- inducing situations and inventing anger-inducing situation questionnaire, we postulated specific situations changing irrational belief into rational one. Based on these situations, we accounted for how to cope with anger inducing factors and change irrational belief into rational one, introducing several strategies needed to control anger, invented cognitive behavioral anger control program and tried to clarify the relationship between anger inducing experience and anger regulation ability. In order to derive usual anger-inducing situations, we made 180 students with fifth and sixth grade to record the reason why he/she got angry, mood, thought, behavior and result. Through this process, we could derive 47 situations bringing about anger and prepared anger-inducing situation questionnaire. It can be divided into 3 anger inducing situations by using factor analysis into 500 elementary students of fifth and sixth grade. Cognitive behavioral anger control program used in this study consists of 13 sessions. From first to fifth session, it is composed of 10 anger control methods to make students be aware of and control their anger. From sixth through thirteenth session, the relationship between irrational belief and anger inducing is introduced is focused on how irrational belief is changed into rational one. To examine the effects of the program, high anger students and the students lacking anger control are selected. Thirty students through pre-test using anger-inducing questionnaire and anger control ability questionnaire are taught the goals and procedures. Volunteer students and students with parents' consent allocated to experimental group (12 students) and the rest of the students are control group (12 students). Cognitive Behavioral Anger Control Program are applied every 50 minutes twice a week for 7 weeks and 4 weeks before and after this program, anger-inducing situation questionnaire and anger control ability questionnaire are practiced. Data collected in this study analyzed by SPSS and Kwakstat. In the middle of this program, quarterly reports and satisfaction measuratings were evaluated to examine whether there is verbal and non-verbal behavior change and students feel satisfied with the program. The results of this study are as follows: First, Cognitive-behavioral anger control program used in this study effectively reduced anger experience and lasted for 4 weeks. Second, cognitive behavioral anger control program increased students' ability to control anger inducing situations and also effective for 4 weeks. And its effect on verbal and non-verbal behaviour was very impressive Students come to realize that irrational belief is the cause of their anger and actively apply cognitive-behavioral anger control technique to themselves as well. Students became improved in their peer relations and felt confident in everyday life. The overall evaluation of this program can be listed as follows; "very satisfactory (91.67%)", "satisfactory (8.33%)", "very helpful (91.67%)", "helpful (8.33%). In this study we first investigated several anger-inducing situations and invented anger-inducing situation questionnaire and then applied cognitive behavioral anger control program in order to control their. anger and not to experience it. By creating workbooks and manuals this method can easily be used in school education settings.

Electroencephalography Activities Influenced by Classroom Smells of Male High School (남자고등학교 교실냄새에 대한 뇌파반응)

  • In this study, the influence of classroom smells (foot odor, hair smell, sour smell, and sweat smell) of male high school and sweat smell and the offensive odor substance (ammonia and butyric acid) on the electroencephalography (EEG) activities of 20 female volunteers, ranging in age from 30 to 50 were studied. The representative response of brainwave index by these smells stimuli was most pronounced on temporal lobes among the brain lobes. By comparison with background EEG activities on temporal lobes, the smells reduced the relative alpha band power (0.04~0.13) and increased the relative beta band power (0.02~0.06) and the relative gamma band power (0.03~0.09). The alpha wave was deactivated, high beta (18~30Hz) and gamma (30~50Hz) waves were remarkably activated. The order of EEG fluctuation caused by the smell stimulus is as follows; hair smell > butyric acid > foot odor, sour smell > ammonia > sweat smell. It means that the classroom smells cause an excessive brain arousal and straining and may be reducing one's attention and learning ability.

Optimization for Small-scale Process of Swine Wastewater Treatment Using Rhodopseudomonas palustris KK14 (Rhodopseudomonas palustris KK14를 이용한 소규모 돈분폐수처리공정의 최적화)

  • To develop the treatment process of swine wastewater using Rhodopseudomonas palustris KK14 with high utilizable ability of organic acids, some operating conditions were investigated and optimized in flask-scale and laboratory-scale reactors. The optimal operating conditions in photosynthetic bacteria (PSB) reactor of semi-continuous type were obtained at HRT 6 day, 5% (v/v/day) seeding rate of PSB sludge and 10% (v/v/day) returning rate of PSB return sludge. Under the above operating condition, COD level of the wastewater (initial COD: 10 g/l) was reduced to about 1.7 g/l after 4 days treatment and MLSS was held constant at $4{\sim}5\;g$ per liter. In laboratory-scale process consisted of 5.2 l anaearobic digestion reactor and 15 l PSB reactor, the total removal rates of COD and BOD were increased to 95% and 96% by the continuous operation for 5.36 days, respectively, showing $3kg\;COD/m^3/day$ COD loading rate and 1.1 Kg COD/Kg MLSS/day sludge loading rate in PSB reactor. The offensive odor was considerably removed through the treatment process of swine wastewater.

Analysis of different types of turnovers between winning and losing performances in men's NCAA basketball

  • Basketball is a highly complex sport, analyses offensive and defensive rebounds, free throw percentages, minutes played and an efficiency rating. These statistics can have a large bearing and provide a lot of pressure on players as their every move can be analysed. Performance analysis in sport is a vital way of being able to track a team or individuals performance and more commonly used resource for player and team development. Discovering information such as this proves the importance of these types of analysis as with post competition video analysis a coach can reach a far more accurate analysis of the game leading to the ability to coach and correct the exact requirements of the team instead of their perceptions. A significant difference was found between winning and losing performances for different types of turnovers supporting current research that states that turnovers are not a valid predictor of match outcomes and that there is no specific type of turnover which can predict the outcome of a match as briefly mentioned in Curz and Tavares (1998). Significant differences were found between winning and tied and losing and tied performance for some types of turnovers, however due to the lack of data collected in this area they cannot be considered valid. Further research could also be conducted in other areas relating to performance indicators where there is currently minimal research in some areas such as assisted baskets, stated about the performance indicators in their own study the performance indicators are inadequate for explaining the complexities of the game suggesting that one indicator will not be constant in every game an research into performance analysis areas would be more appropriate.

The Analysis of the U.S. Navy Surface Forces Strategy and the implications to Republic of Korea Navy (미(美) 해군 수상함부대 전략 평가 및 한국 해군에게 주는 시사점)

  • After finishing Cold War, the U.S. Navy's ability to Sea control has been gradually eroded last 15-20 years. The global security environment demands that the surface Navy rededicate itself to sea control, as a new group of potential adversaries is working to deny U.S. navy command of the sea. China has been increasing their sea denial capability, such as extended anti-surface cruise missile and anti-surface ballistic missile. To cope with this situation, the U.S. Naval Surface Forces Command has announced Surface Forces Strategy: Return to Sea Control. It is a new operating and organizing concept for the U.S. surface fleet called 'distributed lethality'. Under distributed lethality, offensive weapons such as new ASCMs are to be distributed more widely across all types of Navy surface ships, and new operational concept for Navy surface fleet's capability for attacking enemy ships and make it less possible for an enemy to cripple the U.S. fleet by concentrating its attack on a few very high-value Navy surface ships. By increasing the lethality of the surface ships and distributing them across wide areas, the Navy forces potential adversaries to not only consider the threat from our carrier-based aircraft and submarines, but they now consider the threat form all of those surface ships. This idea of using the distributed lethality template to generate surface action groups and adaptive force package and to start thinking about to increase the lethal efficacy of these ships. The U.S. Navy believes distributed lethality increases the Navy's sea control capability and expands U.S. conventional deterrence. Funding new weapons and renovated operating concept to field a more lethal and distributed force will enable us to establish sea control, even in contested area. The U.S. Navy's Surface Forces Strategy provides some useful implications for The ROK Navy. First the ROK Navy need to reconsider sea control mission. securing sea control and exploiting sea control are in a close connection. However, recently the ROK Navy only focuses on exploiting sea control, for instance land attack mission. the ROK Navy is required to reinvigorate sea control mission, such as anti-surface warfare and anti-air warfare. Second, the ROK Navy must seek the way to improve its warfighting capability. It can be achieved by developing high-edge weapons and designing renewed operating concept and embraced new weapon's extended capabilities.
