  • Direct Torque Control(DTC) of AC motor has the fast torque and flux dynamic responses even though it has very simple scheme to implement. However DTC do not show good performance at low speed range with conventional open loop stator flux observer when stator resistance varied. So authors proposed nonlinear stator flux obsever in order to flux estimation at low speed and show its simulation results.

  • In this paper, the problem of designing an adaptive observer for a class of nonlinear systems with linear unknown parameters is studied. The nonlinear system to be considered consists of two blocks, only one of which has measurable states. Assuming the minimum-phase property of the error dynamics obtained after a change of coordinates and imposing some conditions on the functions multiplied by unknown parameters, an adaptive observer is constructed using an existing observer design method.

  • In this paper, a sliding mode controller which is characterized by high accuracy, fast response and robustness is applied to speed control of AC-SERVO motor. The control input is changed to the continuous one in the boundary layer to reduce the chattering phenomenon, and the boundary layer converges to zero when the state variables of system reach to steady state values. The integral compensator is added to reduce steady state error and to provide the continuous torque reference. The acceleration which is necessary for the sliding plane is estimated by an obsever. Sliding surface is included in control input to enhance the robustness and transient response without increasing sliding mode controller gain. The proposed controller is implemented by DSP(digital signal processor). The effectiveness of the proposed scheme is demonstrated through experimental works.

  • This paper presents the torque estimation scheme by Energy Conversion Method (ECM) that can be applied to the torque control of switched reluctance motor. There are two types of torque estimation method by ECM. One is the method using mechanical output energy and another is that using co-energy. When the torque is estimated by ECM, the estimated flux linkage can be obtained by voltage equation and Luenberger observer. By comparing the torque estimated by ECM with that be FEM, we verify the feasibility of the proposed torque estimation by ECM.

  • This paper presents a scheme for designing a fuzzy observer for servo control system with nonlinear element, i.e., backlash. It is found that backlash occurs when the feed direction is reversed. Due to the imperfect transient response of the driving mechanism, not only the static backlash error but also the dynamic backlash error is generated on the contouring profile. And also, we utilized two inertia modeling in order to deals with coupled system accurately. The overall control system consists of two parts - a servo controller and an Fuzzy obsever. It is a Takagi-sugeno type fuzzy model whose consequent part is of the state space form is obtained. A simulation is carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

  • To improve the visual servoing performance, several strategies were proposed in the past such as redundant feature points, using a point with different height and weighted selection of image features. The performance of these visual servoing methods depends on the configuration between the camera and object. And redundant feature points require much computation efforts. This paper proposes the visual servoing method based on the disturbance obsever, which compensates the upper off-diagonal component of image feature jacobian to be the null. The performance indices such as sensitivity for a measure of richness, sensitivity of the control to noise, and comtrollability are shown to be improved when the image feature Jacobian is given as a block diagonal matrix. Computer simulations are carried out for a UUMA560 robot and show some results to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • A diagnostic rule-base design method for enhancing fault detection and isolation performance of multiple obsever based fault detection isolation schemes (FIDS) is presented. The diagnostic rule-base has a hierarchical framework to perform detection and isolation of faults of interest, and diagnosis of process faults. The decision unit comprises a rule base and a fuzzy inference engine and removes some difficulties of conventional decision unit which includes crisp logic with threshold values. Emphasis is placed on the design and evaluation methods of the diagnostic rult-base. The suggested scheme is applied to the FDIS design for a DC motor driven centrifugal pump system.

  • The most important thing in the container terminal is to handle the cargo effectively in the limited time. To achieve this object, many strategies have been introduced and applied to. If we consider the automated container terminal, it is necessary that the cargo handling equipments are equipped with more intelligent control systems. From the middle of the 1990's, an automated rail-mounted gantry crane(RMGC) and rubber-tired gantry crane(RTG) have been developed and widely used to handle containers in the yards. Recently, in these cranes, the many equipments like CCD cameras and sensors are mounted to cope with the automated terminal environment. In this paper, we try to support the development of more intelligent automated cranes which make the cargo handling be performed effectively in the yards. For this plant, the modelling, tracking control, anti-sway system design, skew motion suppressing and complicated motion control and suppressing problems must be considered. In this paper, the system modelling and a tracking control approach are discussed. And, we design the tracking control system incorporating an observer based on the 2DOF servosystem design approach to obtain the informations of the states. The experiment results show the usefulness of the designed control system.
