  • This study aimed to reveal the designer's creative process in the development of clothing designs. The researcher has taken roles both as a design practitioner and an observer. The full process of design development was concurrently documented while working to solve a specific problem. This included noting down the concept, keywords, and detailed scratch ideas, as well as refining the design by collecting sketches and taking photos. Integrated data from the captured design process were analyzed based on Lamb and Kallal's apparel design framework, which included problem identification, construction of preliminary ideas, design refinement, prototype development, and evaluation. The functional, expressive, and aesthetic (FEA) criteria of the entire process were thus assessed. Additionally, five professional apparel reviewers evaluated the design project based on FEA criteria. The results showed the processes for identifying targets and intentions, extracting the main elements from sources, developing the major visual concepts, and making final adjustments. Ultimately, this study revealed how a designer manages each stage of the creative design process. Sharing such detailed observations of the design process can help refine the knowledge involved in each stage of the creative process, and provide guidance for instructors in design education.

  • Supernovae (SNe) are well known as good cosmological distance probes owing to their brightness. Specifically, type Ia SNe contribute greatly to our understanding of acceleration of cosmic expansion. However, type IIP supernovae are the most common type of SNe and have been found out to a large redshift, so the application of these SNe as distance indicators is promising. IMSNG is a project for monitoring nearby galaxies (<50Mpc) to catch early light curves of transients and get inspections of their progenitors. The daily monitoring observation allows us to construct a dense light curve of SNe, too. In this talk, we present the light curves of two SNe IIP, SN 2014cx (NGC337) and SN 2017eaw (NGC6946), using our IMSNG data. A newly developed technique, the Photometric Color Method (PCM), employs only photometric data to estimate distances for SNe IIP. We present the distances to our targets measured through PCM and compare this to that of obtained via other methods.

  • Although mass accretion from the disk to the central protostar is a key process of low mass star formation, the accretion mechanism is still poorly understood. To investigate "episodic accretion", which has been suggested as an accretion mechanism in low mass star formation, we have carried out near-infrared spectroscopic observations of three very low-luminosity objects (VeLLOs) and one background source, using InfraRed Camera onboard the AKARI space telescope. The ice absorption features of $H_2O$, $CO_2$, and CO were detected around the wavelengths of 3.0, 4.26, and $4.67{\mu}m$, respectively. In addition, we revealed the XCN ice feature, which is attributed to high energy UV photons produced by the episodic burst accretion. The comparisons of the ice abundances of our targets with those of other YSOs observed previously with AKARI IRC imply that the three VeLLOs had experienced burst accretions although they are now in a very quiescent phase.

  • Underwater CCTV camera systems are increasingly replaced the traditional net approach of assessing the species, numbers and aggregation patterns of marine animals distributing around the artificial reefs installed in the inshore fishing grounds, in particular, in relation to the biological investigation of behavior and distribution patterns of target fishes. In relation to these needs, we developed a multi-directional underwater CCTV camera system to use in detecting and tracking marine animals in the artificial reef ground. The marine targets to be investigated were independently tracked by using a camera module toward the bottom and four camera modules installed in the interval of $90^{\circ}$ in horizontal plane and inclination of $45^{\circ}$ in vertical plane of the CCTV system without the overlap of video frames by each camera module. From the results of several field tests at sea, we believe that the developed multi-directional underwater CCTV camera system will contribute to a better understanding in evaluating the effect of artificial reefs installed in the inshore fishing grounds.

  • Pc1 pulsations are geomagnetic fluctuations in the frequency range of 0.2 to 5 Hz. There have been several observations of Pc1 pulsations in low earth orbit by MAGSAT, DE-2, Viking, Freja, CHAMP, and SWARM satellites. However, there has been a clear limitation in resolving the spatial and temporal variations of the pulsation by using a single-point observation by a single satellite. To overcome such limitations of previous observations, a new space mission was recently initiated, using the concept of multi-satellites, named the Small scale magNetospheric and Ionospheric Plasma Experiments (SNIPE). The SNIPE mission consists of four nanosatellites (~10 kg), which will be launched into a polar orbit at an altitude of 600 km (TBD) in 2020. Four satellites will be deployed in orbit, and the distances between each satellite will be controlled from 10 to 1,000 km by a high-end formation-flying algorithm. One of the possible science targets of the SNIPE mission is observing electromagnetic ion cyclotron (EMIC) waves. In this paper, we report on examples of observations, showing the limitations of previous EMIC observations in low earth orbit, and suggest possibilities to overcome those limitations through a new mission.

  • In the process of star formation, the density and temperature of associated material, which are the physical conditions for the molecular chemistry, vary dramatically. As a result, the connection between physical and chemical conditions has been used to trace the evolutionary stages in star formation. One chemical tracer for the physical conditions in star forming material is the [HCN]/[HNC] abundance ratio since the ratio strongly depends on the kinetic temperature in molecular clouds. Here we investigate the [HCN]/[HNC] abundance ratios in objects related to the massive star formation. For the investigation, we carried out $H^{13}CN$ and $HN^{13}C$ line observation toward objects in three different evolutionary stages of massive star formation: Infrared dark clouds (IRDCs), High-mass protostellar object (HMPOs), and Ultra-compact HII regions (UCHIIs). According to our observational results, both $H^{13}CN$ and $HN^{13}C$ lines have been detected toward 19 IRDCs, 25 HMPOs, and 31 UCHIIs. We will discuss about the [HCN]/[HNC] abundance ratios in different evolutionary stages of massive star formation and associate the results with the physical conditions of the targets.

  • We present high-resolution near-infrared host galaxy spectra of low-z quasars, PG0844+349 (z=0.064), PG1226+023 (z=0.158), and PG1426+015 (z=0.086). The observation was done by using the near-IR high resolution echelle spectrometer, IRCS, at the SUBARU 8.2 m telescope. The full width at half maximum of the point spread function was about 0.3 arcsec by using an Adaptive Optics system, which can effectively resolve the quasar spectra from the host galaxy spectra. The signal-to-noise ratios are increased by the total exposure time up to several hours per targets and the development of data reduction method. We compare our results to the stellar spectra library and sample spectra from Dasyra et al. (2007) and Watson et al. (2008). The identified spectral lines will be used to study the physical mechanism of quasars, and the velocity dispersions of the stars in the bulge of the host galaxy.

  • This study investigated ADHD prevalence among the first to sixth graders in ordinary classes of H elementary school located in an area of special rural conditions and selected 4 sixth graders who received high scores in a self-diagnostic test on attention deficit and over 17 points from teachers in an ARS-IV test with a view to verifying the effects of the education in environment on the improvement of maladjusted behaviors among ADHD children when the education program for improvement of maladjusted behaviors is applied to the environment. The program was applied from March to mid-July for about 4.5 months in 13 periods. The program applied consisted of activities of experiencing the nature. Behavior changes of targets during the course of the program were recorded in the frequency of ADHD target behaviors card and the observation log to describe the results, which underwent a comparative analysis through pre-and post-tests of ADDES-SV and to graph the changes in maladjusted behaviors of target children. To sum up, the education in environment resulted in positive effects on the changes of maladjusted behaviors among ADHD children by reducing attention deficit impulsive behaviors and hyperactivity.

  • The passive microwave remote sensing has progressed considerably in recent years. Important earth surface parameters are detected and monitored by airborne and space born radiometers. However the spatial resolution of real aperture measurements is constrained by the antenna aperture size available on orbiting platforms and on the ground. The inverse problem technique is researched in order to improve the spatial resolution of microwave scanning radiometer. We solve a two-dimensional (surface) temperature-imaging problem with a major intention to develop high-resolution methods. In this paper, the scenario for estimation of both radiometer point spread function (PSF) and target configuration is explained. The PSF of the radiometer is assumed to be unknown and estimated from the observations. The configuration and brightness temperature of targets are also estimated. To do this, we deal with the parametric modeling of observation scenario. The performance of developed algorithms is illustrated on two-dimensional experimental data obtained by the water vapor radiometer.
