To estimate the thermal effect of the vegetation canopy on the surface sublayer environment numerically, we used the combined model of Pielke's1) single layer model for vegetation and Deardorff's2) Force restore method(FRM) for soil layer. Application of present combined model to three surface conditions, ie., unsaturated bare soil, saturated bare soil and saturated vegetation canopy, showed followings; The diurnal temperature range of saturated vegetation canopy is only 20K, while saturated bare soil and unsaturated bare soil surface are 30K, 35K, respectively. The maximum temperature of vegetation canopy occurs at noon, about 2 hours earlier than that of the non-vegetation cases. The peak latent heat fluxes of vegetation canopy is simulated as a 600Wm-2 at 1300 LST. They have higher values during afternoon than beforenoon. Furthermore, the energy redistribution ratios to latent heat fluxes also increased in the late afternoon. Therefore, oasis effect driving from the vegetation canopy is reinforced during late afternoon compared with the non-vegetated conditions.
Through numerical experiment using simplified OSU-1D PBL(Oregon State University One-Dimensional Planetary Boundary Layer) model and field measurement, we studied the impacts of vegetation canopy on heat island that was one of the characteristics of local climaate in urban area. it was found that if the fraction of vegetation was extended by 10 percent, the maximum air temperature and the maximum ground temperature can come down about 0.9${\circ}C$, 2.3${\circ}C$, respectively. Even though the field measurement was done under a little unstable atmospheric condition, the canopy air temperature was lower in the daytime, and higher at night than the air and ground temperature. This result suggests that the extention of vegetation canopy can bring about more pleasant local climate by causing the oasis, the shade and the blanket effect.
Objectives : To analyze the latest study trend on effect of herbal medicine treatment for Colorectal Cancer in South Korea. Methods : The theses about colorectal cancer(from 1th January 2000 to 6th August 2016) were searched from National Assembly Library, KIOM OASIS, and National Digital Science Library. And, they were classified by the topic of research; Single herb, Herbal decoction, oriental foods and Pharmacopuncture, the number of theses about single herb is 29, herbal decoction is 14, oriental foods is 8 and Pharmacopuncture is 3. Rhus Verniciflua(乾漆), Beakduong-tang(白頭翁湯), Wild Ginseng Pharmacopuncture is the most commonly used herb in our research. Conclusion : There were many attempts to develop the way to cure colorectal cancer using korean herbs, and some meaningful results were reported. However, more clinical researches based on human body and more scientifically designed clinical studies are required to prove the effect on colorectal cancer.
An analytical method for determining phenol considered priority pollutants of the US EPA and precursor of toxic phenolic compounds by solid-phase extraction (SPE) and high performance liquid chromatographic systems (HPLC) equipped with fluorescence and mass selective detectors have been developed. The SPE process for sample preconcentration was performed on a commercially available Oasis HLB cartridge packed with polymeric sorbents. The effect of pH, elution solvent, and elution volume on the recoveries of the analytes were investigated with HPLC/FLD. Average recovery of >87.0% was achieved with 60 mg sorbents using 5 mL of methanol as an elution solvent at pH=3.
Objectives : This study aimed to build up information system for the 25 cases of Korean Medicine (KM) prescriptions which are used mostly often in clinic and aimed to offer information about its effect and safety to public and researcher. Methods : We used KM prescription data-bank which came from 'The Bio-informatics for herbal formula' and 'The evidence based medicine for herbal formula' projects of Korean Institute of Oriental Medicine (KIOM) Results : First, we analyzed prescription data and categorized 7 classes, then we built up prescription database based on it. Second, we designed and developed user functions of prescription information system, then we link it to OASIS. Third, we developed adminstration system to manage the prescription data. Conclusions : From this study we hope that KM prescription information system will be used for fusion research based on KM. Because the implemented system is linked to OASIS, we expect it will be widely used.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to analyze research of Korean medicine for the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis. Methods : We searched domestic journals with the title 'seborrheic, dermatitis, 脂漏, 面遊風, 白屑風, 紐扣風'. We searched The Journal of Korean Medicine Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology and Dermatology, NDSL, RISS, KISS, The National Assembly Library and OASIS. Results : We selected 15 papers; 11 clinical trials, 4 systematic reviews. In clinical trial all studies showed positive effect, but less example used in the studies. Conclusions : Positive effect of Korean Medicine on seborrheic dermatitis is expected. But we find several limits in many papers, so we conclude that well-designed researches are needed.
The relationship of both heavy metals and major elements in soil, plants, and groundwater was studied in a hyper-arid area and depends completely on the groundwater to cover its all needs. The study reviles that 27.3% of the studied groundwater was strongly acidic and has very low pH values (

Objectives : The aim of this study is to review the effect of acupuncture/moxibustion on vitiligo. Methods : Using 5 databases(Pubmed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, RISS, OASIS) clinical studies about effect of acupuncture/moxibustion on vitiligo were searched. Only randomized controlled trials(RCTs) were selected to analyze. Results : Total 235 studies were searched. After screening those studies 5 studies were selected from china and Iran. 3 studies used effective rate to measure the effect of acupuncture for vitiligo. 1 study used Vitiligo Area Scoring Index(VASI) and 1 study assessed 4 grade of repigmentation to prove acupuncture's effect on vitiligo. All studies showed repigmentation in acupuncture/moxibustion group. Adverse effects reported in the five studies were temporary erythema, itching, and dryness. Conclusions : These findings suggest that acupuncture and moxibustion can be considered a safe treatment for vitiligo. However, due to the small number of RCTs conducted on acupuncture and moxibustion for vitiligo, more RCTs should be conducted to confirm the effectiveness of acupuncture and moxibustion for vitiligo.

Objective : In this study, we searched the experimental research about combined treatment of anticancer drug and herbal medicine for killing or inhibiting proliferation of Cancer cells searched in OASIS and KISS. This study aimed to analyze the experimental research paper about anticancer drug combined treatment with herbal medicine. Methods : We collected the research paper including killing or inhibiting proliferation of Cancer cells in OASIS and KISS using keyword anticancer drug with herbal medicine, tumor suppressor with herbal medicine, inhibition of Cancer with herbal medicine and combined treatment with herbal medicine. Assorting by cancer cells, we analyzed experimental results cancer cell viability, anticancer drug dosage, tumor weight and survival rate. Also, we checked the effects of herbal medicine on cancer and additive effect reducing side effect of anticancer drug. Results : Total 45 studies were selected. 38 studies reported combined treatment of anticancer drug and herbal medicine was more effective than only anticancer drug. The death of cancer cells was synergistically induced by the cotreatment of anticancer drug and herb extracts. The studies suggest that the cotreatment of anticancer drug and herb extracts could reduce side effect of anticancer drug. In addition, some studies reported cotreatment mechanism like apoptotic death signal processes. In combined treatment of anticancer drug and herb extracts, The expression of Fas/Fas L, Bax, Bcl2, Caspase-3 etc.. was markedly increased in cancer cells. Conclusions : Our results suggest that anticancer drug combined treatment with herbal medicine could be efficient for killing or inhibiting proliferation of cancer cells. However, this paper had some limitation as follows: First, collected studies have been published only for korean journal. Second, results of research and effects of combined treatment are not collected objectively. To solve these problems, more objective and balanced studies should be performed.
