Purpose: The purpose of this study was to supply basic data for a health promoting program and to elevate the level of it by examining whether university students' health promoting behaviors were related to health perception, health concept, self- esteem, perceived benefits of action, perceived barriers of action, perceived self-efficacy, activity-related affect, social support, preference, prior related behavior, and a plan for action. Method: Subjects were 192 university students in K city. Data collection method was a structured questionnaire. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. Result: The most powerful predictor was previous related behavior (36%). Altogether previous related behavior, health status, a plan for action, perceived self-efficacy and number of admissions were proven to account for 57% of health promoting behaviors. Conclusion: It suggested that prior related behavior, health status, a plan for action, perceived self-efficacy, and number of admissions should be considered when developing a students' health promoting program.
The purpose of this study was to develop a theoretical model from which to test the influence of family background and work experience on the level of rural high school students' (N=381) occupational aspirations. In the basic model, mother's occupation directly influenced occupational aspirations. Father's education influenced occupational aspirations directly and also indirectly through students' academic achievement. The number of working hours per week had a direct and negative influence on academic achievement. In a different path, working hours had an indirect positive influence on academic achievement through parents' different treatment which especially focused on the fact that parents gave students more freedom compared to the relationship they shared before the students began to work. Enjoying school, studying homework, and extra reading were influenced by students' number of working hours. Two variables, extra reading and job characteristics, predict the social acceptance work attitudes which are a direct predictor of occupational aspirations. Academic achievement had a greater total effect on the level of occupational aspirations than any other variables.
Objectives : The purpose of the study is to investigate the oral health behaviors between students studying in Vancouver, Canada and college students in Daejeon, Korea. Methods : A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 239 students in November, 2013. The questionnaire consisted of oral health behavior including tooth brushing methods between two countries. Chi-square test and t-test were analyzed. The analyses were conducted using R version 2.14.2(R Foundation for statistical Computing, Vienna, Austria). Results : The number of tooth brushing in Korean students was higher than those in Canada. Fifty nine percent of the Koreans brushed their teeth 3 times a day while 62.3% of students in Canada brushed their teeth 2 times a day(p<0.0001). Those who were taught on oral health education tended to brush the teeth more frequently that those who had not. Koreans and Japanese tended to brush teeth more frequently after breakfast than the Taiwanese(p=0.005). Koreans also brushed teeth after dinner more frequently than Japanese, Taiwanese, and other foreigners(p=0.012). Conclusions : This study indicated that Koreans have better oral health behaviors in comparison to students studying abroad.
The aim of this study was to observe processes and implication to a given program for the 20 gifted children grade 5 by making the number from 1 to 100 with natural numbers 4,4,9 and 9. Revelation of creativity, mathematical tendency of students and meaningful responses were observed by the qualitative records of this game activity and the analysis of result. The major result of a study is as follows: The mathematical creativities of students were revealed and developed by this activity. And the mathematical attitude were changed and developed, so student could actively participate. And students could experience collaborative and social composition learning by presentations and discussion, competition with a permissive atmosphere and open-game rule. It was meaningful that mathematical ideas (negative number, square root, factorial, [x]: the largest integer not greater than x, absolute value, percent, exponent, logarithm etc.) were suggested and motivated by students themselves.
In this article the relations between demographics, variables related to credit card, flow and compulsive buying tendency were explored. The survey data collected from 318 university students. The results of regression analysis showed that older students were related to the greater number of card. The greater allowance and number of card were related to the greater average card expenditure per month. Female, younger and the greater average card expenditure per month were related to greater flow. And younger students tended to be more compulsive buying tendency than older students. The greater allowance and flow were related to greater compulsive buying tendency. The results of path analysis showed that the age, allowance and flow influenced on compulsive buying tendency direct. Also age and allowance influenced on compulsive buying tendency direct and indirect.

The effects of number, source, and sequence of analogs on middle school students' concept recall and application were investigated. Based on the number (one/two) and source(everyday/science) of analogs, four types of learning materials were developed and pilot-tested. Prior to the treatment the field dependence/independence (FD/l) test was administered and the scores were used as a blocking variable. The learning materials were read by randomly assigned middle school students (N=88), and the concept recall and application test was administered immediately and four weeks later. In the immediate and retention tests, there were no significant main effects of number, source, and sequence of analogs. In the application problems of retention test. however, there were some significant interaction effects with students' FD/I. Field-independent students who learned with two analogs scored significantly higher than those who learned with one analog. In the case of using two analogs, field-dependent students who learned with everyday-analog first scored significantly higher than those who learned with science-analog first.
Purpose: To investigate self-esteem according to differences between real and ideal Body Mass Index (BMI) in female college students. Methods: Subjects were 587 female students in Korea. Data was collected by using a developed questionnaire through pretesting. Results: Actual number (46.7%) and actual number (5.1%) of participants were defined as being underweight and overweight, respectively. Nearly all participants expression high dissatisfaction with their body shape. Averages of 1.02, 2.97, 7.81 were revealed for underweight, normal weight and overweight group differences between real and ideal BMI. Those who were defined as overweight exhibited significantly self-esteem than those who were defined as underweight. Conclusions: The belief that body shape is heavier than actually the case may be prevalent among female college students in Korea. This difference between the real and ideal BMI negatively influences self-esteem. Programs aimed at improving body image awareness an self-esteem among female college students are needed.
This study was to investigate the factors affecting drinking Korean traditional beverages and the drinking habits of college students in Seoul. The research was carried out by asking them to drink 10 kinds of traditional drinks. They were composed of 45.5% of boys and 54.5% of girls who were $18\sim21$ years old, studying food related science (63.9%), and mostly (86.6%) living in a nuclear family in collective residents (60.4%) like an apartment. The number of students whose family's monthly incomes were over 3 million won was the largest as 37.1%. Their mothers were housewives (58.4%) mostly aged $46\sim50$ as 47.0%. In the research on the preference of students for the traditional drinks, most of them, 78.7%, showed their liking for the drinks because of their good taste (61.%). The number of students who answered they got the drinks by homemaking was the largest as 39.6%. Most of them, 66.3%, preferred fruit drinks, 19.8% soda drinks, 11.4% traditional drinks and 2.5% functional drinks. 31.2% of the drinks mostly taken at home was green tea, followed by sweet rice drink, Shik-hae. Among the drinks coming into the market, sweet rice drink was preferred in general as 25.7%, and the next was green tea 16.8%, ume drink (Maesil tea) 14.9%, rice tea 13.9%, fruit punch (Sujeonggwa) 11.4%, black tea 7.9%, honey tea 4.5%, ginseng tea 2.5% and jujube tea 2.5%. In the research on 'whether the students had experience preparing the traditional drinks or not', many of them, 62.4%, answered "No". And in the questionnaire asking on 'whether they liked to receive a training on making traditional drinks or not', 87.6% of them showed their wish to get the training. In the question on the reason why the students did not like to take the training on traditional drinks, the number of students who answered that it was complicated and hard to prepare was the largest as 53.0%.

Objectives: The purpose of the study is to investigate the relationship between fluorine concentration within finger nails and the level of dentifrice in dental hygiene students and non-health majoring students. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by seventy female college students living in Daegu and Gyeongbuk that are not supplied with fluoridation from May to June, 2014. Informed consent was approved by institutional review board (IRB). The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of the subjects (11 items) and oral health behavior including number of toothbrushing, duration of toothbrushing, number of mouth rinsing, and amount of dentifrice. A dentist and a dental hygienist examined directly the subjects by the guideline of World Health Organization (WHO). The oral examination included decayed tooth, healthy tooth, and filled tooth. The nail samples were obtained from seventy female students. Results: Comparing the dental hygiene students and non-health majoring students, 62.5% of dental hygiene students used approximately 1300mg of dentifrice and 55.2% of non-health majoring students used 1800mg or more of dentifrice. The non-health majoring students used more dentifrice (p<0.01). The fluorine concentration within nails was $1.9905{\mu}l/g$ in dental hygiene students and $3.2149{\mu}l/g$ in non-health majoring students. The fluorine concentration within nails in the dental hygiene students was significantly lower(p<0.01). Conclusions: The accumulation of fluoride in human body is not fully caused by dentifrice. However, The accumulation may occur due to toothbrushing so that it is necessary to educate the students about the right use of the dentifrice.
