The purpose of this study is to compare relationship with friends among adolescents under probation and high school students without any criminal record. A total of 510 respondents (253 adolescents under probation, 257 high school students) participated in this study. Results indicate that both adolescents under probation and high school students reported that they talk to talked to their friends when they were lonely, that they were comfortable when they are with their friends, and that they trusted their friends unconditionally. However, the two groups showed a difference in the place that they meet their friends. Adolescents under probation are likely to meet their friends at Internet Cafe to play internet games, while high school students are likely to meet their friends near their school. Compared to high school students, adolescents under probation had more friends who were expelled from school, who were under probation and who have been previously incarcerated. For adolescents under probation, compared to first time offenders, the repeat offenders were more likely to have friends who were under probation and who have been previously incarcerated. When discriminant analysis were conducted for adolescents under probation and high school students, the two groups can be distinguished by the number of friends expelled from school, number of friends under probation, and number of friends who have been previously incarcerated. For adolescents under probation, compared to first time offenders, the repeat offenders could be distinguished by the number of friends expelled from school, number of friends under probation, number friends who have been previously incarcerated, and number of times their partners in crime were under probation or incarcerated.
The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for preventing the youth from their dug abuse and contributing to improve their health. A total of 1,210 students of middle and high schools in Pusan were selected to answer this questionnaire. The data was collected from March 23 to April 6, 1995. The major findings of this study are as follows; 1) The attitude about drugs of middle and high school students was desirable. By groups, girl students showed more desirable attitude than boy students, and middle school students than high school students. 2) For the experience of drinking coffee, 70.4% of the subjects of survey answered that they have had:62.4% of middle school students and 78.9% of high school students. For the stated time of drinking coffee 59.8% of them, the largest number, said from middle school days. 3) For the experience of drinking alcoholic liquors, 40.4% of the subjects of survey answered that they have had: 51.4%n of boy students and 29.5% of girl students, 23.4% of middle school students and 57.7% of high school students. For the started time of drinking liquors 53.1% of them, the largest number, said from middle school days. 4) For the experience of smoking, 24.8% of the subjects of survey answered that they have had: 37.2% of boy students and 12.5% of girl students, 16.3% of middle school students and 33.3% of high school students. For the started time of smoking 52.0% of them, the largest number, said from middle school days. 5) For the experience of drugs, 6.3% of the subjects of survey answered that they have had. For the started time of abusing drugs 71.0% of them, the largest number, said from middle school days. The kinds and composing ratio of abused drugs were: Timing was 51.4%, bond 20.3%, butane gas 12.6%, thinner 3.8%, methamphetamine 1.9% and mescaline 1.9%. 6) The attitude points toward drugs in case of not taking coffee and liquors, smoking and abusing drugs were higher than the points in case of taking them. 7) The rate of abusing drugs in case of taking coffee and liquors and smoking was higher than that in case of not taking them and smoking.
This poper proposes a manpower cultivation index(MCI) which can be used for evaluating how much a research project contributes for manpower cultivation. The four factors which are considered to influence the manpower cultivation are the number of participated graduate students(research assistants) , the number of graduate students who obtain master or Ph. D. degrees among the participated graduate students in the research project, the number of research papers published by participated graduate students, and the number of graduate students who get jobs. By the proposed MCI, three major research projects of KOSEF are analysed in terms of manpower cultivation. These are SRC/ERC(Science research center/Engineering research center) and RRC(Regional research center) and OBR(Objective based research) . The computed MCls show that the three major research projects enjoy satisfactory manpower cultivation to some extent.
Objectives : This study aimed to improve school health program by investigation of several variables through educational diagnostic factors which influence the level of subjective oral health perception and DMFT of students on the basis of PRECEDE model. Methods : A total of 286 high school students in Busan completed the self-reported questionnaire from September 3 to 28 in 2012. Results : 1. Social and epidemiologic diagnosis suggested that the level of subjective oral health perception of male students was not better than that of female students and DMFT number of the male was more than that of the female(p<0.001)(p<0.001). 2. Oral health diagnosis indicated that once a day tooth brushing group showed lower level of oral health perception(p<0.001) and high DMFT number(p<0.001). 3. Predisposing factor of educational diagnosis implied that more than 4 times a day snack intake group and sweet diet and soda friendly group showed lower level of oral health perception and high DMFT number(p<0.001). 4. Tooth brushing of the reinforcing factors had the most important effect on the level of oral health perception and the number of dental caries. Daily snack intake was the most important effect on DMFT number. Conclusions : The informed consent from each family was the important factor in implementing PRECEDE model. School health program improved oral health care. Oral health program can correct the risk oral health behavior in children and adolescents.
This study investigates the concept of irrational number which middle school students begin to learn for the first time in their learning mathematics. Further, this explores how that concept is being taught, how much students understand that concept and things that students have difficulty in understanding relating to the concept of irrational number. Thus we try to figure out how the concept of irrational number should be taught for the most effective students' understanding. Thus, we want to provide some suggestions for teaching and learning irrationals numbers.
This study aims to investigate the effects of foreign students' entrepreneurship on start-up recognition and intention. Due to the expanded policy of attracting foreign students with current Korean wave, it has rapidly increased the number of foreign students in Korea. The number of foreign students in Korea has increased from 50,000 up to 100,000 in 2012. Approximately half of number was resided in Seoul capital, surrounding satellite cities and followed by Kyeongsang, Chungcheong and Jeolla province regions. In this study, we examined the correlation of entrepreneurship with start-up recognition and intention of foreign students living in Daejeon city. The research model was constructed with entrepreneurship and start-up intention as independent and dependent variable, respectively, and start-up recognition as a moderating variable. Furthermore, the entrepreneurship of foreign students as independent variable contains innovativeness, pro-activeness, risk-taking and social responsibility. In the survey, we collected 119 responding foreign students belonging to KAIST, Chungnam National University and Hanbat National University and analyzed the correlations of these variables with 116 significant answers. To validate the hypotheses, linear regression analysis tool in SPSS program was used. As a result of the survey, entrepreneurship components such as innovativeness, pro-activeness, risk-taking and social responsibility affected start-up intention positively. In addition, start-up recognition as a moderating variable affected positively between entrepreneurship and start-up intention. However, it has the limitation to generalize the overall correlation of entrepreneurship with start-up recognition and intention for foreign students living in Korea because the survey was only performed in restricted Daejeon city area. Nonetheless, this study can be useful for understanding the foreign students's trait for entrepreneurship and planning the adequate entrepreneurship education.

Purpose: This research was conducted to identify major factors that influence competency for nursing students in basic nursing skills. Method: Data were collected by questionnaires from 290 first year students in one college of nursing. The instrument tools included motivation for admission to nursing, concern about fundamentals of nursing, perceived importance of fundamentals of nursing, level of active participation in fundamentals of nursing, number of times to use open Lab, Lab class satisfaction, self-efficacy, self-evaluation and student attitude. Results: There was no significant correlation between competency in basic nursing skills and motivation for admission to nursing, concern about fundamentals of nursing, perceived importance of fundamentals of nursing, or number of times to use open Lab. Competency in basic nursing skill in these students showed a significantly positive correlation to Lab class satisfaction, self-efficacy, self-evaluation, student attitude and level of active participation in fundamentals of nursing. The major factors that influenced competency in basic nursing skills for nursing students were student attitude, self-efficacy and number of times to use open Lab. These factors explained 15.5% of the variance in competency. Conclusion: Basic nursing skill practice education programs should be developed to improve self-efficacy and active participation.
During the last a few decades, internationalisation of universities has emerged as an important issue not only in developed countries but in developing countries. South Korea as a fast catch-up country has experienced a remarkable change in its higher education system. This change is largely related to the South Korean government's higher education policy and to economic developmental stages. Against this backdrop, in order to assess the internationalisation of Korean higher education, we focus on international student mobility rather than other criteria such as infrastructure or programmes for international students and faculties. According to the recent statistics, the number of inbound foreign students involved in Korean higher education has increased significantly since 2005. Nevertheless, compared to other OECD and Asian countries, the number of outbound students in Korean higher education is high, whereas the number of inbound foreign students in higher education in Korea is very low. Against these observations, Korean government's recent policies and efforts of Korean universities to improve internationalization are discussed. Finally, some policy implications are put forward.

Reports on population movement(2000-2030) by the National Statistical Office show that the number of elementary school age population will be decreased by 1.4million from 2005 to 2020. It will effect both school size and the policies for school facilities, which have focused on downsizing class as the high standard of OECD nations. As the unfolding evidence is emerging that a number of schools and classes will be emptied out by 2030. This study aims at developing a objective and scientific device for estimate the number of students at future and evaluating the validity of school establishment. In doing so, it explores the relationship between the changing factors and the number of students. It proposes four factors such as the changes of population, the fertility rate, the number of apartment occupant and movement of population. As the result of the statistic analysis on the correlation coefficient, it finds out that the change of apartment occupant has a close correlation with the change in the number of student and has a deep effect on the establishment of school. Finally, it shows the construction of school according to urban developments during 1999-2008 in Incheon Metro-City. This study would help the authorities to expect the future number of student and to restrict overbuilding of surplus classes, finally the reasonable expenditure for school facilities.
The goals of this study are to inquire middle school students' understanding about prime number and to propose pedagogical implications for school mathematics. Written questionnaire were given to 198 Korean seventh graders who had just finished learning about prime number and prime factorization and then 20 students participated in individual interviews for member checks. In defining prime and composite numbers, the students focused on distinguishing one from another by numbering of factors of agiven natural number. However, they hardly recognize the mathematical connection between prime and composite numbers related on the multiplicative structure of natural number. This study suggests that it is needed to emphasize the conceptual relationship between divisibility and prime decomposition and the prime numbers as the multiplicative building blocks of natural numbers based on the Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic.
